    Here is the departure from Van Nuys, but we aren't going to Florida...we're going to New York! White Plains that is. We got two shout outs from ATC on this flight. Unfortunately, the first one was after the camera was shooting time lapse, so I missed it. The second was perfectly captured. I hope you guys enjoy!

    Shaun and Jon, you guys are the most professional pilots I have ever seen. You take your work seriously. I am an old has been with 1800+ hrs that grew up right under Victor 267 between ORL and Pahokee. We had a nice grass strip there and I used to fly a Super Cub, 210, Aztecs, and a Grand Commander so I know what I am talking about. I used to fly into Ft Lauderdale Int before they discouraged small aircraft. I have even landed there on 9 L when it was still 9 L in front of a DC 10 right behind me and was asked to make mediate turn off to the left ASAP! (Was going to "Red Aircraft") I was a young student pilot then. Ah, the old days. I have also been in and out of Laud Exec many times.
    I never have liked flying "Commercial" and I am sure that I am not alone but I would fly and feel VERY comfortable with you two ANY DAY. You guys KNOW what you are doing and do it in a PROFESSIONAL manner. Thank you for making these videos as I look forward to each one and have watched several two or more times.
    I do have a question. No matter which seat you are sitting in, L or R, does the one doing the flying get to log the time as "Pilot in Command"? Thank you and take care.

      I also love the way you guys look out for traffic in low altitude congested airspace. When one of you is busy with something and has to look down or look away, you ALWAYS tell the other that you are doing so that the other can concentrate on traffic. So many people rely on TCAS and maybe miss something.

    My favorite video so far for nostalgic reasons. Spent most Saturdays a gr Van Nuys airport as a kid at my stepdad work. Worked at The Jet Center and worked on Gulfstreams (hence my total love for them) Then you flew over my hometown of Palmdale, Ca and my childhood home was in the picture to include AF Plant 42. My whole family worked there too. Sadly I have transplanted to the Lansing, MI area, no where near the aircraft. Keep up the great work! Love the videos.

    ATTENTION CPL SUBSCRIBERS: It appears that our favorite Gulfstream IV is finally back in the air and on to new and exciting journeys. Jon & Sean dropped it off on March 25 for some routine maintenance, required inspections and a couple cool upgrades. I'm showing it left the Gulfstream facilities in Georgia this weekend and is finally back in the air.
    Jon & Sean ---stay safe up there gentlemen.
    Francine --- don't let them get away with anything.

    I have sent many flights to HPN but have never seen it, SO THANKS for showing me. Very cool. Nice editing and tunes. Lets see the Turkey sando next time.... Oh and maybe brief the approach a little slower for us in TV land! Love the Channel.

    Thank you for the videos. For a person who spends a bit of time at the back of an aircraft in the cheap seats this has been very educational. Just listening to ATC & gaining a bit of insight into how it all works & how professional everyone is about their job will make me feel a little bit more comfortable about my next flight. Unfortunately I'm in Australia so not much anybody can do about the 13 & 14 hours flight legs I get to enjoy. Do either of you ever plan on flying the bigger commercial planes? I hear Emirates are short of A380 pilots

    I love it when the controllers are fans of the channel and give you guys a quick shout-out. These last couple videos show the wide range of Pilot & Flight profiles. Anywhere from countless inputs & nonstop information management all the way down to those “non-event” flights we all hope for.
    Francine-it would be awesome if you got a RUclips account so you can comment on these videos and interact with your FANS!
    Jon-We would love to hear from you as well. Maybe you could tell the “Story of Sean the Pilot.” What made you hire him out of Flight Safety in Dallas over other candidates. There must be a couple funny stories that are fit for this medium.

    "Why do they do that?"
    It was your first call to the center. TRACONs and ARTCCs have very different environment with regard to airspace. So while the TRACON made an automated handoff to the center, he may not have known which sector received it. Sometimes, in different configurations, you only clip the sector's airspace and you've already been handed off (internally--you'd never know about it) to the next sector. You were climbing to FL190 (if I remember) and you may have been high enough already to go to the next frequency to get a higher altitude.
    There are all kinds of possible reasons, few of which seem to make any sense in the cockpit. None of them are "oops"es.

      We figured it was something like that. It's not a big deal, just a bit of an annoyance...thanks for the info though!

      Texstar77 Days at least he wasn’t using an airsick bag. I’m sure that Shaun was extremely sensitive to his friends condition and didn’t do anything sinister - like wave the turkey sandwich under Jon’s beak.

    The quick frequency change was probably due to a sector being split that is usually combined up, or had just been opened. The tracon may have just used the frequency that was in use when the sectors were combined.

    PTSD, waited for them to ask you guys What are you doing?! And ask that you film all clearances now, so we can yell back at them w/you when they act like you've gone off flight plan..j/k, and I am in no way bagging on ATC, as 90% of them are absolutely great, and at times very helpful and fun to deal with. Was unusual too, as while I didn't fly down in that corridor much, always heard good things about the people in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas. But it can happen anywhere. Hope your flights were smooth after this, although was a bit surprised you had to go to Teterboro after that long flight, without a sleepover at least.

    • @CorporatePilotLife
      @CorporatePilotLife  6 лет назад +2

      Indeed...it can happen anywhere. But as you said, the vast majority of the time, ATC does a fantastic job taking care of business.

    Francine, I would recommend a Seagram's Ginger Ale (regular Seagram's, not the diet kind) for John - this flight. Seagram's Ginger Ale has less sugar, more real Ginger. The only pop (soda) I drink.

      Gary Olafson oddly enough, when my tummy is upset, a beer settles it right down.

      Vernors, also known as 'Michigan Penicillin' used to have the highest real ginger content of any ginger ale on the market, although since new companies have bought them several times in the last 20 yrs. who knows now, but that used to burn through any food poisoning/stomach upset out there!

      niceguy217 I'm a Schweppes guy myself........doesn't bite as much as some ginger ale. A fresh stalk of ginger will also cure what ails you. Suck on it and feel better in 5 minutes. We used to carry it on boats.

    • @niceguy2171
      @niceguy2171 6 лет назад +1

      Schweppes is good too, but that bite is what burns through the nasties in the stomach that ail ya ;) And most certainly on a stalk..or piece of ginger, that was my mothers go-to in stomach upsets in all of us kids, and it really does make one feel better, even if you're not feeling to bad.
