After substitution, we'll cancel the same way and get "sec theta + tan theta". In order to make it the reciprocal and change + sign to - sign, we will divide AND multiply with sec theta - tan theta. And after using trigonometric identity in numerator we will get RHS

It is always recommended to move from more terms to lesser. On left side there are 3 terms in numerator and denominator whereas on RHS, we have only 2. So converting 2 terms into 3 will need some kind of manipulations, most of the times.

If you replace 1 in numerator then you will get tan+sec and if you replace 1from denomerator then you will get 1/tan+sec

How can we do it if we substitute the value of the 1 in numerator
