Apparently, the official conservation status of the Saiga has been updated YESTERDAY (December 11) to Near Threatened. In other words, the Saiga is no longer Critically Endangered. Thanks to conservation efforts, their population went from roughly 100,000 during the early 2000's to more than 1 MILLION as of 2023.
It's true. I heard the same thing last night. The Scimitar-Horned Oryx got an update to. It went from Extinct in the Wild to Endangered. What a win for conservation irl!
Fun fact: The German name for the wolverine is Vielfraß which means glutton. It comes from an ancient nordic word, fjeldfross ("mountain cat"), which happened to sound like the German word for glutton/someone who eats a lot and can't get enough.
“Phineas, Ferb, i think we what we’re gonna do tomorrow” I wanted to say that i’m gonna buy only for the swans, but then i got this video on my recommendations, now i’m sure that about animals this is one of the best packs
The swans is easily the best part, it makes me hopeful we can get some more birds going forward. Or if development is ending sometime next year then at least we can get some great mods.
I'm from Estonia and I'm so happy that few animals that are in my country are in the pack, it's only 2 animals, but I hoped that Wolverine would come to the game and IT CAME.
I honestly expected a full bird DLC this late into the year and this late into development, but I'm sure glad that they finally aded another neognath bird that isn't a penguin to the game. The last and only other time they did this was in the wetlands pack. After visiting the Parque das Aves in Brazil several times, swans aren't the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of birds that can be kept outdoors in zoos, but I can't argue with how beautiful the models are.
Speaking as a biologist - I find it weird when people say "but we JUST got a boar/pig with the anniversary update" because pigs and peccaries aren't that closely related. True pigs (i.e. wild boar) belong to the family Suidae, whereas peccaries belong to the Tayassuidae. They're definitely related, but it's a bit like complaining about the saiga because we already have the pronghorn.
The local zoo recently built a Sloth Bear habitat, and i have to say the in game Sloth bear looks pretty accurate. It's odd that there's no interspecies bonus, the sloth bear at the zoo shares the habitat with 3 Asian small-clawed otters.
I'm more excited for the swan then I thought I'd be lol 😂 but we need one more animal and the 'fiesty trio' will be completed. We have tazzie devil, wolverine but need the HONEY BADGER!
Hey DeLadysigner, Blijdorp used to have takins! If you go into Google Streetview you can still see one looking towards the camera (at the Himalaya Rock, where the red pandas and tufted deer now live. I thought you might want to know that because you go to Blijdorp often :)
If I wasn't in the break room at work, Id almost be tempted to cry finally seeing my Takin in action in the game. A game has never done that to me before. Did you ever get that email full of Takin info i sent you? Crazy stuff

DLCs are really great, Swan is so beautiful ! But it's been 4 years and I'm still waiting for aviaries and aquariums, I think we have enough land animals.
Im afraid we are really not getting any aviaries and aquariums for Planet Zoo anymore :( This pack was my last hope.. Im afraid that zoo is wrapping up development somewhere next year and I hate to say it.. but I think they might save aviaries and aquariums for a Planet Zoo 2 at some point :(
@@DeLadysigner I was thinking like you... :( This pack was my last hope, I guess they will use it as a sales strategy for the next Planet Zoo game (if it will be the new game) like JWE2. But on the bright side, the land animal roster we have has been strengthened a lot, they would have a chance to focus more on the bird and aquarium theme in a new game. They probably want to spread their potential over as many years as possible, to keep the company alive. Ahh I'm really void, on the one hand, I want to think positively, better mechanics, better water physics, aviary system... On the other hand, years pass, waiting for a new game means at least 3-4 years. I hope what we want will happen in the best way, that's all we can say right now.
We have a wolverine in our local zoo (Pécs, Hungary), though it's a small zoo. He's really cute, and i've never seen him agressive in my 10s of visits, but you can tell he could tear you apart.
Hey DeLadysigner, If I'm not mistaking. I think they have both wolverines and takins at gaia zoo (in the Netherlands) so if you want to see them in real life, you can go there. False. Back in Washington State, USA (where I’m from), there is a zoo/safari park called Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, and one of the animals that live there are wolverines🙂
would love to see more crocodilians like the american or nile crocodiles. Or more snakes like green anacondas, reticulated pythons, and burmese pythons. All very impressive looking animals.
Well too be honest i'am not too excited about the mute swan. I can see them nearly every day i want, because they breed only 200 m away from my home. Sure more birds are great, but i would prefer something more exotic. I am very happy about the Wild Boar and the Wolverines, two animals i missed so far. Sure i could see a Wolverine in a small Zoo not too far away, but its the same as with the Wombat. You read it should be in the habitat, but most of us will never see them.
I dont think I would ever use it myself, but surely there might be some people that would like that! However, there actually already is a www.planetzoopedia.com or something, but not sure if its still being updated 😊

I have no evidence, it looks like they made an entire new rig and animations specially for the Swan, rather than just copying the Flamingo and Crane. If so. That could show us getting more aquatic birds in the future.
A little confused. The Reindeer is still not included in Sweden even though we have around a quarter of a million of them all the way down to the middle of the country and now the Wild Boar is not included either? We have Boar problems reaching far up from the South to the middle of the North and it only says "Europe" with no red mark in Scandinavia at all. The Wolverine is marked as widespread in Norway but barely included in the West of Sweden. Is Sweden even considered a country with wildlife in this game? A bit sad imo. A bit like saying the Moose exist in the upper parts of the US but not include Cananda.
Oh they are but they're not mentioned to live in Sweden. They're even included in Denmark on their region info though. Wild boars are a menace in pretty much all but the northern parts of Sweden but there's not red at all on their region either 😕@@DeLadysigner

In netherlands, zuid limburg, kerkrade in the Gaia zoo they always had wolverines, dont know of they are still there, haven't been in a while

A little confused.
