It might help you to read a bit about the sunk cost fallacy - where we persist with something suboptimal because we have already spent resources on it (eg watching a boring movie until the end because you paid for the ticket). The money you spent on the palettes is gone, so keeping them just because you spent money on them doesn’t help you to recover the cost. Even if you sell them on a reselling site for 50% of the original value (and I’m sure you could sell some for even more than half the value), you will still be in front of where you are now. Just something to think about if you don’t find yourself getting use out of these palettes and are tempted to keep them just because of how much they cost.
Totally agree! This year I decided to sell everything that I don't like and I don't want to pan. Sometimes it takes time to sell something, but honestly it's worth it. There always will be someone who would buy makeup for a lower price (even if it's not new), and that's a great way for me to get my money back 😃
Not only the sunk cost, it is preventing you from using make up that you really like. Why use subpar makeup products when you own better make up in your actual collection? The money is spent and if you continue to use it, you are wasting other beautiful palettes in your collection. They will expire like food. Keep the good stuff and use it.
Now that you have identified the palettes that don’t suit your needs, please show them to the door. You can do it. I believe in you. Just imagine waking up with a cup of coffee and being excited to create an eyeshadow look with palettes that are amazing.
Awesome video idea. There are tons of palettes I would trade back for full price value but I buy most of my stuff on sale so if it’s not much money I don’t mind having the products.
I love doing this but one step further and see the patterns of makeup I buy but don't end up using or enjoying. For me, I tend to experiment with drugstore products but especially for complexion I've learnt I want to try a concealer or foundation a couple times in different lighting to test for colour match and wear time. So I'd rather spend three times more on a product I can get a sample, than one I have to pick out from a tester.
I would give back the Colourpop Uh-Huh Honey palette in a heartbeat! The pigmentation just isn’t there and the shadows disappear from my lids immediately. 🤦🏼♀️
I wish I hadn't bought the Isamaya palette. I've realised those dark cool tones are a bit much on my smaller hooded eyes, and I'm probably just not that good with eye makeup but I struggle with the formula. I don't feel like some shades last even with double primer that keeps my other shadows on like cement. Some of the normal shimmers barely do anything and I will say that the two dark mattes blend like a dream, no patchiness and they last but it's all too dark! I'd use a lot of the lighter shimmers and toppers as one and done but, like I said they just don't last for me. I am probably using it wrong but for £95, it's too much effort for little payoff.
I bought tom ford coco mirage and was like girl you crazy. Its 115 Canadian. That is the only one I have and now he doesn't make it and to be honest its great quality so I intend to pan the whole thing someday. I know what you mean though for the price you want to make sure that it works for you. The ones I am donating to my school drama department honestly are the ones I want my money back on. So I figure the kids can use them and I don't have to stare at them!
What a fun video! I agree with the picks that I also have but I keep them for like 2 shades. Melt Mary Jane for example I LOVE Gaspar because its like a cool green/brown grungy matte.
@@marietollett8323 That is my first and currently the only one ND palette I own. I heard all the good things about the brand and waited for a more colorful colorstory to try it. I have magnetic palettes that I can depot them to, but I'm considering just forwarding it to a friend, cause I don't want to throw all the mattes. It's just taking me some time to get use to the idea cause it was so expensive.
This is such a great video!!! I have many that I would trade for my money back. Most of them I have to my daughter!! Unpopular opinion but I would trade the Persona Identity palette…just didn’t like it.
Some thoughts: 1. I find r.e.m. beauty packaging so ugly, and i can NOT in good conscience support Ariana Grande, so...all their products are an easy pass for me. 2. Tom Ford is like most other luxury brands: the products are often lower quality for the price, particularly eyeshadow. Same is true for many other brands of this type, such as Gucci, YSL, Givenchy, Dior, and Chanel. You're paying for the brand name. Period. 3. Pat McGrath lost any hope of my business when she went after other brands for the use of the word "Divine". How entitled and presumptuous can a person/brand be?! Sit down, sis. Thank goodness UD didn't try to protect the word "naked", and Nars didn't try to protect "Orgasm". Some things should just be left for everyone. 4. I recently just got ND Zendo and Bronze palettes. Love them. No regrets at all. 5. I'm dying to try Uoma beauty. 6. I've been waiting for the right color story to try Unearthly. I think the recent Rudo Rwaamai and Vitality palettes might get me. 7. I love Melt, but the overly weed-themed products get nothing more than an eye roll from me. I'm not a prude by any means, and i don't care about MJ, but enough is enough already. Cringey and lame. 8. I want to try BPerfect, and each of the Carnival palettes are interesting individually, but after so many, it's like...boring. 9. NONE of the Kards/Jenns will ever get my money. They are nasty con artist scammers with no soul. Ick. 10. I love CP, but some of their products just didn't live up to my expectations. I don't have the palette mentioned, but after watching this, i'm glad i skipped it. Great video; would love to hear about more products, maybe different categories?

OMG you're in MN?! Me toooo! 😊🖤

Ooohhh i like this video idea! I may have to do this some day 👀

Good to know! I've always wanted it, now I don't feel like I'm missing something anymore 👍
@@KaimiInc. You’re definitely not missing out! 😊
It was 36 degrees in SD two days ago, eek. I bet Minnesota will be cold soon!
The Tom Ford palette you have has the regular pressed powder formula which definitely isn't worth the money. His wet dry formula is much better
I got my zendo from boxy but I mixed the shades from other midi nd palate (sunrise) and I enjoy now
I would take back ND Zendo as well. I can and do make it work but it doesn't excite me.
I like the REM liquid eyeshadows and lipliners!

Love the concept of this video. I am going to go through my collection to see which I would give to the makeup fairy just to torture myself lol
I’m interested in the total cost… how much did you spend on them? How much money would you have gotten back, if you could? 🤷🏻♀️
I would get rid of - Huda Lilac Obsessions
ND pastel palette
Certifeye Tropical Wonders and Affinity and BB age of opulence
Natasha Denona Triochrome. I like the multichromes in it, I don't like the mattes. I'll use it cause I have it, but I think it's definitely overrated.
Would you consider adding the multi-chromes to another ND palette that you like so you could get more use? 💛
