Thank you, everyone for your generous comments and show of support! We are dedicated and doing our best to make this happen but, of course, we need your continued support! A great way to help, besides donating, is to share news of this project with as many people as possible. Please, spread the word and help keep the spirit of 2D animation alive! THANK YOU!!!
You definitely have my encouragement, praise, and support! 2D animation is what keeps me going to achieve my animation goal, especially with Disney!!! So never give up, and neither will I!
James Lopez Animation I've spread the word about it through a journal on DeviantART, but also shared my own opinions on the whole thing since there are things about it rubbing me the wrong way, but I'm also encouraging others to support you. If you wish to read the journal, here's a link: fav.me/d7xtpk7
I read your journal I think you're full of it. why do you LGBT people seem like you have to get offended at everything. that's for the skinny waist corset for a really big back then. as for looking pretty and youthfull look at every single female character ever animated. if you don't like it don't donate but don't try to entice others not to donate just because it rubs you the wrong way.
People, seriously, if you love Traditional (Hand-Drawn) Animation and you want to preserve it for future generations. I highly encourage all of you to spread the word about this and please donate! 2D animation MUST stay alive for generations to come!
As someone who loves animation both 3D and 2D, I can't wait to see this. I can't wait to see how slick and smooth the animation in this movie will be. One thing we don't have enough, modern 2D animation.
I've always loved hand-drawn 2D animation, there's a very charming grace and fluidity of movement that computer-made animation either doesn't or can't match. When it's mixed with modern computer-generated backgrounds like you've shown here, it can produce some spectacular results. I think my favorite shot in this video is where we see the villain (it's not said, but come on, he's got the sunken eyes, twiddly mustache, and wicked smile, he's obviously the villain) spinning around in his chair snapping his pocket watch at 1:42. The way he turns and kicks his legs has that very same charming, hand-made grace, and his office is so meticulously rendered, with golden sunlight reflecting softly off the brass of the dextop, it's a stunning little snapshot of what's to come. I only wish I had more cash to donate, I sincerely hope your airship gets off the ground, my good sir!
You could be richer than you are right now if you learned how to live without paying any taxes [like I learned] and learned to eat only once per day [like I learned] and learned how to generate your own electricity.
+KaRue 3 Yea well Miyazaki retired and even if they do come out of hiatus it won't be the same without him. The films they have released without him in production haven't been rated as well.
I support people like you that are saving 2d animation, I am personally tired of all cgi productions, I know every single animation film requires a lot of effort in whatever medium it is done, but nothing is as good as a film done in traditional animation... It's one of the greatest human artistic achievements
I would love to see this become a movie! I'm a huge fan of steampunk and there isn't many steampunk movies let alone steampunk movies that look like as beautiful as this sneak peek! 2D animation is the one animation that holds a special place in my heart.
I'll do my best to spread the word. Anyone who grew up with 2D animation would definitely love this, especially of this quality. The story is absolutely amazing as well, I really like how the the two main characters (I think) are polar opposites yet I bet they'll work great together!
Because James Lopez said that he didn't want to have Disney involved because he wants to have this idea to himself, he's tired of doing other people's projects.
And frozen didn't help with its billions of dollars at the box office. I unfortunately don't think there will be a future of hand drawn animation in disney.
YES PLEASE! We need people like you to bring traditional animation back, please, bring back my childhood! CGI movies depresses me, there were some good ones but it's getting tiring, yeah, Incredibles was great, but traditional animation kept me at the edge of my seat, I knew that an actual person drew the cartoon, CGI lets you know that a computer did it, personally, traditional animation feels like an art to me, I can feel the presence that the artists drew that by hand, even through software, they still did it by hand, we can't let the traditional animation industry to die, please be my hero and bring them back. If this comes to theaters, I am soooo going to watch it and enjoy every single minute of it!
This looks so amazing. Characters, scenery, machinery, art, everything. I'm super excited for it. 2D animation needs a revival. Even though there are some CGI movies I enjoy, I'm sick of seeing it everywhere while 2D animation is left in the dust.
Goodness, this looks incredible. Not only do I love that this is hand-drawn and 2D, the characters look great and there seem to be a few awesome female characters! I am so down for those tutorials too, sign me up!!
YES! This looks absolutely incredible! It's so sad that a young artist like myself, who grew up watching those very movies you helped draw, and that inspired me to draw - and someday animate for a career - is now a dream that won't come to pass because 2D drawn animation is a dying art :( This looks incredible - your style, the characters, the idea- Ahh I'm excited already! I was about to go to bed, but now I have to draw some more. Thanks for being an inspiration and goodluck on your project x
I am happy to see that people still take on the art form of 2D , fantastic work and i wish you the best of luck. from what i can see from the animation in this, it looks fantastic and i hope you are able to take it further with this project and the tutorials you are on about.
This would be a wonderful feast for the senses! I think I speak for many when I say that we'd love to see a traditional 2D animation with these characters, this story and, last but not least, *steampunk!*
James Lopez, I give you my support on this project beyond 100%! Steampunk is one of my absolute favorite things in the world, and having it put into animation makes me very happy. The first time I discovered steampunk was through a Japanese animated film called Steamboy, and was directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. It is my favorite film and it is what got me into becoming an artist. I have been waiting to see something like Steamboy again, so I pray that you get all of the support and funding that you need to make Hullabaloo a reality. Good luck, Christina Ammel
Oh My God, I didn't even knew about this. HOW DID I NOT KNOWWWWWW Hey James, besides my breakdown, I just felt the need to come here and say to you that what you're doing is a true inspiration for me, because I'm going to study Classical animation and concept art at Vancouver Film School, and to see that the future of hand drawn animation there's still hope is just inspiring and amazing. More than inspiring and amazing, I'm not very sure how to put it. I think people are forgetting the beauty of 2D animation and how it's wonders are eternal. CG animation is beautiful too, of course, but for me, we can't compare. The old Disney way of animation it's remarkable and without a doubt, it will still be here 100 years from now. That's the kind of animation we can see over and over again and never get enough off. Seeing this really gave me strength and hope. Sometimes I wonder... Where's the magic? ... Thank you for what you're doing. You're an inspiration to us all, and that's why I'm taking the Classical Animation program. Really, thank you. Hope to see more of this. XOXOX
I wanna see this become a movie! I want this to help bring back the art of hand-drawn animation! Don't ever quit on this! You want to make it happen, and you're gonna do it! Even if it takes you years! Look at animators like Richard Williams and Phil Nibbelink. Williams spent 28 years trying to get ONE film done (The Thief and the Cobbler if you're wondering) and sounded like he was persistent in getting it completed. Nibbelink wrote, directed, and animated one film all by himself (Romeo & Juliet: Sealed with a Kiss). The film may have been a flop but give him credit! I'm just saying that you should take all the time you need if you want to get something like this made, and that you should be persistent on what you want to be completed. Be creative!
This looks amazing. I found it randomly because I was interested with that animation style that reminds me of Disney. Right when you said you had worked for them, it makes sense now. I really like it, I'm looking forward to seeing more. Keep up your great work!
Donations for tutorials is a win for everyone. This definitely looks like a good indie film, and I wish it success. I love 2D animation, which I guess is why I feel so alienated in my 3D animation class. Long live 2D!
I would just like to say THANK YOU!!!! I REALLY hope that 2D animation comes back becouse I just LOVE the artwork so much I really hope this works out and becomes a thing
OMG ITS BEAUTIFUL !!!!! I hope this becomes something beyond this clip, I MISS these styles of cartoon. I want to share my love of cartoons with heart, style and story that I GREW up loving.
Im so happy this is coming together, ive been feeling sad that there is no more traditional animation and no one noticed or cared but seeing this makes me super happy! If its really successful it might even bring this format back. I cant wait!

Great iniciative!i hope this movie can achieve the daylight and brings a lot of success. i will share and divulge this project as much as i can!! May the traditional animation "disney-style" make a comeback and doesn't go anywhere!
I am studying Animation in The Netherlands. And a love 2D animation. This is soooo cool and a great concept to give 2D animation a push, because it's almost a dying art. I love the Steampunk style and the concept. I really want to help!!!
Thank you for keeping the spirit of 2D animation alive. I look at Disney movies now and all I see is generic CGI, especially the character models, and it honestly makes me sad. Disney has always been a pioneer in animation and sadly it's stuck in the same place as other animation companies. Ever since I watched Paperman, I've been hoping that Disney will transition into a fully integrated 2D/CGI style of animation but it seems like they're making no effort to go into that direction. But I see the work you've done on Hullabaloo and I'm amazed. It's beautiful and lends itself well to both mediums. Please keep up the good work! :)
Finally! Its so refreshing to see a 2d animated movie! To be honest 3d animation may be is nice sometimes, but it simply will never be able hold a candle to the beauty of traditional art. I look forward to see the outcome of this project.
Really like the concept and Steampunk style! I support you and I really looking forward how this is gonna be as a movie. 2D is really a work of art and like the combination with the 3D machines! Wish I could help with the progress.
I'm not an animator, but I always liked 2d handraw animation, is probably my favorite style (even tho I like digital animation too XD). This project looks awesome, hope I could see a full movie of this concept or something like that.
I'm spreading the world to my friends in virtual worlds Second Life, etc. where there is a large steampunk community. I wish you well in producing the piece.
This is great animation. I hope they bring in some new talent to voice the characters but to stay true to the characters. Hand drawn art is the best type of art. My older sister went to school a few years back to become an animator herself to draw hand drawn animation. She told me how hard it can be and how much time it can take out of an artist that and it can be very hard. It still is better then cgi art because in cartoons it can be very hard to create the smaller details or it can bring textures and colors. A good representation is Totoro on their old movie where every scene looked like a painting a real piece of art to the newer version where the CGI decimated some of the details.
Sinceramente los apoyo con este proyecto me encanta la animación tradicional suerte con su proyecto y si fuera por mi tendrían todo mi dinero ya que el steampunk me fasina
This is exciting! I love steampunk and recently i have really been trying to learn how to animate! (my parents dont have a lot of money so they cant get me classes, but im trying with online free tutorials.) I love 2d animation, i cant wait to see this.
OMG!! it's so awesome! i wish i have the money to donate :c i really love 2d animation and i'm glad to see projects that try to keep it alive... i hope you get all the support you need and finish this amazing project... good luck!
*THIS NEEDS TO BE A THING THAT HAPPENS!!!*
*WE'RE 100% FUNDED!!!*

*OH-KAY!!!*
I love how I keep seeing you wherever I go : p
It's happening!

James Lopez Animation I've spread the word about it through a journal on DeviantART, but also shared my own opinions on the whole thing since there are things about it rubbing me the wrong way, but I'm also encouraging others to support you.

Good sir you are awesome! I am so so happy you are looking to give steampunk this look! Good luck to you, comrade.
I read your journal I think you're full of it. why do you LGBT people seem like you have to get offended at everything. that's for the skinny waist corset for a really big back then. as for looking pretty and youthfull look at every single female character ever animated.

Magnificently, superbly said, ma'am/sir. You've verily spoken my thoughts.
ryarod Yea verily!
Give this guy money! Give it to him! Now! ALL OF IT!
why dont you
TheHelldrik If I was as rich as Trump, I would support projects like this one.
You could be richer than you are right now if you learned how to live without paying any taxes [like I learned] and learned to eat only once per day [like I learned] and learned how to generate your own electricity.
I don't hate cgi, but I'm getting tired of seeing it everywhere. I want to SE more hand drawn animated films.
Yeah spirited away the cat returns ponyo, howls moving castle, the wind rises and and
About that comment I made a mistake.
KaRue 3 Unfortunately they closed though. :(
+KaRue 3 Yea well Miyazaki retired and even if they do come out of hiatus it won't be the same without him. The films they have released without him in production haven't been rated as well.
+KaRue 3 I doubt better. Their films are solid timeless classics. But I could see new directors making some good stuff there in the future possibly.
I support people like you that are saving 2d animation, I am personally tired of all cgi productions, I know every single animation film requires a lot of effort in whatever medium it is done, but nothing is as good as a film done in traditional animation... 2D animation is the one animation that holds a special place in my heart.
Yes please. You've got my support as a life long fan of 2D animation.
I'll do my best to spread the word. Anyone who grew up with 2D animation would definitely love this, especially of this quality. The story is absolutely amazing as well, I really like how the the two main characters (I think) are polar opposites yet I bet they'll work great together!
YES! WE'LL MAKE OUR OWN 2D STUDIO! WITH BLACKJACK AND HOOKERS!
You can't beat the hand drawn aesthetic. This will be a great contribution to the world of steampunk!
Why the hell is Disney not funding this? Hullabaloo looks epic it could be SO freaking huge!!!
I'd watch it.
Because James Lopez said that he didn't want to have Disney involved because he wants to have this idea to himself, he's tired of doing other people's projects.
And frozen didn't help with its billions of dollars at the box office. I unfortunately don't think there will be a future of hand drawn animation in disney.
Because Disney got rid of its 2D animation department after it sent Winnie the Pooh to be released on the same day as Harry Potter.
FanOfAnimation but i loved that winnie the pooh movie!
Keep on contributing, my fellow 2D animation fans! The more James Lopez gets, the more "Hullaballo" that he can create for all of us! :)
YES PLEASE! We need people like you to bring traditional animation back, please, bring back my childhood! One of the reasons Disney was so magical is the amazing 2D hand-drawn animation. One of my complaints in new movies. Thanks for keeping it alive

Oh yes. This is gold. Just got wave that you've reached your funding goal! Congratulations!

from what i can see from the animation in this, it looks fantastic and i hope you are able to take it further with this project and the tutorials you are on about.
This looks SO WONDERFUL!!! Thank you for sharing your skill and passion with us!
You guys should make it a television show!! :D
You can count on my support! Also, THAT HAUNTED MANSION WALLPAPER/MEMORABILIA, OH MY GOD
This would be a wonderful feast for the senses! I think I speak for many when I say that we'd love to see a traditional 2D animation with these characters, this story and, last but not least, *steampunk!*
James, you really deserve this idea to be your own. I am really excited to see where the project goes! I love Steampunk!! :D

Revenir aux fondamentaux... vous faites un travail magnifique, quant au choix du Steampunk... MERCI !!!!
Omg, I'm loving it already; this has to happened! Would love to see it all finsihed! I miss hand drawn animation; I grew up watching it.
Oh My God, I didn't even knew about this. HOW DID I NOT KNOWWWWWW
Hey James, besides my breakdown, I just felt the need to come here and say to you that what you're doing is a true inspiration for me, because I'm going to study Classical animation and concept art at Vancouver Film School, and to see that the future of hand drawn animation there's still hope is just inspiring and amazing. ... Thank you for what you're doing. You're an inspiration to us all, and that's why I'm taking the Classical Animation program.
Really, thank you.
Hope to see more of this.
XOXOX
Wow I wish I had enough money for the $500 goal. It would be amazing to learn animation from someone who used to animate for Disney
This looks really cool! I hope this becomes a cartoon series!
Wow the animation looks so gorgeous. Can't wait until the animation is completed.
I work on a lot of websites where I can spread the word. I too am a fan of the classic 2D animation and would love to see this come to life.
Just had to come here after the first episode was uploaded. So glad to see it come to fruition.
Congratulations James.
I wanna see this become a movie! I want this to help bring back the art of hand-drawn animation! Don't ever quit on this! You want to make it happen, and you're gonna do it! Even if it takes you years!

I do miss this type of animation so much, was my childhood
I'm sold. Good for you and everyone you're working with! I'd love to see this on the big-screen or anywhere else
Two female protagonists in a steampunk world.
I am completely on board.
This looks INCREDIBLE!
Ahh the art style is my favorite! I love steampunk & 2D animation. I'm very excited to see this finished :)
This looks amazing. I found it randomly because I was interested with that animation style that reminds me of Disney. Right when you said you had worked for them, it makes sense now. I really like it, I'm looking forward to seeing more. Keep up your great work!
Wow, this team is shenanigans (in the best possible way).
This is awesome and you seem like a really cool guy. Definitely supporting it.
This looks SO promising!!!
This looks insane! Love steampunk and really want more stuff like this to become a more prominent genre :)
You definitely have my support!!!! This needs to happen and quick!!!!
2D Steampunk...this will be extremely fascinating :D
Im so happy this is coming together, ive been feeling sad that there is no more traditional animation and no one noticed or cared but seeing this makes me super happy! If its really successful it might even bring this format back. I cant wait!
This looks amazing~ Can't wait to see a steampunk style animation.
When my fantasy novel is done and probably published. I would love to sell my story to them, which I'm hoping would be good enough to re-revolutionize 2D animation. They'd have to make 2-3 feature length films out of it though, 1 would just be impossible.

Alec Wilson Thank you for your understanding.
Yes you are right!!
***** I'd love to, but I don't want any plagiarists getting the chance to listen in on this conversation.
Yes, that's true.
This looks really good. Thank you for doing this.
ok, this is the definition of art
Absolutely, GREAT CONCEPT!!! I will spread the word!
I love it! I hope disney gets on the bandwagon for this! This film could save the company!
I really like what i see, looking forward to seeing it finished. keep up the awesome work
"Hand drawn animation is slowly becoming a dieing art"
FACTS
I can't wait! This will be amazing!!
This project looks amazing! I've kicked a couple of dollars to the project and will certainly spread the word.
And I am drooling over your Haunted Mansion room
This looks amazing so far I don't know why Disney isn't funding it I and many other people I know would love this, good luck :)
The idea is lovely ! I think it's a real shame that Disney's moving away from the 2D films ; I find them much more appealing than the new ones.
Awesome! Great idea and wonderful artwork!
this looks absolutely amazing~! Ahh 2D animation is wonderful~!
That moment when you find something amazing and realize it has existed for two years without you knowing. That was this morning.
Hope fullly, this project will be success. Especially, if it's going to become feature film, that would be great! The series also cool too.
Keep the Art form Alive :) Looks great !
This looks AMAZING!
Let's hope this will be a thing! I'd love to see it!
Love this. I really miss quality 2d animation.
Great iniciative!i hope this movie can achieve the daylight and brings a lot of success. i will share and divulge this project as much as i can!!
May the traditional animation "disney-style" make a comeback and doesn't go anywhere!
this is amazing!
This is so cool I love steampunk and animation and I think it's so amazing he's doing this
I love this idea! Good luck! My best to you :)
Ahhh OMG SOOO COOL I falling in Love with HULLABALOO ♥!!!! Thank you James!!!!
I am studying Animation in The Netherlands. And a love 2D animation. This is soooo cool and a great concept to give 2D animation a push, because it's almost a dying art. I love the Steampunk style and the concept. I really want to help!!!
it looks
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you make it happen
I believe in you

My older sister went to school a few years back to become an animator herself to draw hand drawn animation. She told me how hard it can be and how much time it can take out of an artist that and it can be very hard. It still is better then cgi art because in cartoons it can be very hard to create the smaller details or it can bring textures and colors. A good representation is Totoro on their old movie where every scene looked like a painting a real piece of art to the newer version where the CGI decimated some of the details.
Still here.
Waiting.
Patiently.
Me too buddy :)
