How much time do you spend (on average) writing your part and then rehearsing it?

I will often play a song for quite a few hours while writing parts. Mostly I start by just sitting down and jamming along with the song doing a simple beat. As I start to feel other fills or beats in my head I try them to see how they sound. Mostly this just sounds terrible haha. But it allows me to experiment with different ideas. Once I decide on the parts I want to play I will rehearse those parts for a couple more days until I feel like I can play them the way I would like. I usually end up refining the parts a bit during these rehearsals. Then I will film/record. Sometimes this is very quick, and others it can take a couple hours, depending on the complexity of the parts and how well rehearsed I am. Thanks for the question! :)
