Four Lessons from the Southwest Airlines IT Failure and Meltdown

  • The US-based Southwest Airlines had an unmitigated disaster during the 2022 holiday season. Over 13,000 flights were cancelled, which will reduce the company's fourth quarter earnings by anywhere from 3% to 5%.
    Some of the biggest problems were not weather-related - they were IT related. This video outlines my assessment of the four lessons we can takeaway from this mess and apply to our digital transformation and IT initiatives.

    Sky Solver was developed in house, so it might be an issue with application development and its processes. Could save a huge amount of time and money if the application was rejuvenated to a Cloud service. As always, thanks Eric for the video.

    Worst than Southwest Airlines mistakes and short-comings is the fact there isn’t a Led Zeppelin picture sitting above Def Leppard and Boston right now! 😤 Def Leppard is the Quickbooks of ERPs and Boston might be an IFS ERP. Led Zeppelin is Oracle or SAP. Top tier my friend. Let’s represent some Zeppelin in your next video. 🤘🏽🎸
