Alhamdullilah I converted to Islam 40 years ago and I was the first from my family to do so. I know my family line all the way back into Slavery on both my Father and Mothers sides of the family and all my fore parents back to Slavery time were married Alhamdullilah.
ka1257 - Alhamdulillah! That’s beautiful. Allah Subhana wa ta’A’la (Most High) is All Knowing. In His Wisdom, He ta’A’la Knew a portion of His servants would be born from zina (fornication - having relations and not being married). I’m in NO WAY condoning it, however a multitude of converts came from unlawful behaviors, hence the reason, By Allah’s Permission they saw the need to change those behaviors for something that was better and therefore heard Allah’s Truth and accepted Islam as a way of life, Alhamdulillah. For the knowledge you have regarding your family histories on both sides and none were slaves, Allah is Akbar (Great). Those who don’t know anything about their ancestry on one side, in no way shape or form diminishes the Light and Wisdom of Allah Most Great. I pray your family members are Muslim, righteous doers and they will be blessed to be like the generations of Abraham and his descendants when they promised Allah to worship only Him and His Values....May they be protected from being like Abraham’s progeny who had all the worldly knowledge and goods but neglected worship of Allah Alone and His good....no matter the good they had, they lost it in the end due to their turning away from righteousness or Right Guidance, Amin. There is a great beauty in being a slave. When African Americans were slaves we sure stuck together more and took care of our families tier in some cases. Not saying we should be slaves or have such a mentality now, but sometimes in not having much, it helps one to establish a form of humility and understanding that you need Allah (God) and your reliance upon God be 💪 much like our dear prophet Yusuf (May Allah’s Peace be upon him). He was a slave for a time and gained much knowledge, wisdom and humility during those years. So many stories of slaves in Islamic and American history regarding the obstacles slaves have overcome, the virtues learned and how they became successful. And that’s just in the life of this 🌍; only Allah Most High, Truly Knows the numbers who have made it to Paradise. May Allah make us all, regardless of how we came into the earth (cause He ta’A’la can do and change all things), of His Righteous slaves, relying on Him Alone, effecting that good into the 🌎 and May our actions be witnessed by the Qur’an for us and not against us, Amin!♥️
@@latifahnapier8311 AsSalaam Alaikum I only mentioned this because if the negative comment that Imam Shadeed quoted from the Suumalie brother who said most African Americans are born from Zenah. And actually the majority of my forefathers were in captivity or slavery yet they came down through the generations as married couples. This is a favour from Allah to me and not something I take credit for.
ka1257 - Alhamdulillah! I was just trying to say, either way we come into the world, all is a favor from Allah. Either there is Favor from the beginning or a way to His Forgiveness along the way til the end. No love 💕 loss!
Our people are the Muslims. The non-Muslims are not part of our people in Islam. They are outsiders who have nothing to do with us. Unity in Islam is based on ‘Aqeedah (creed) and imaan (faith) and Tawheed (Islamic monotheism). We unite upon Laa ilaaha illa-Allah. And nothing else. Whoever unites upon tribalism, nationalism, or skin color or ethnicity or race is not a Muslim. The Prophet literally said that with his own mouth.
Abdelkarim Karim You missed the whole point, brother. It’s not about nationalism or tribalism; it’s about JUSTICE and speaking for the oppressed be they Muslim or not. As Allah says, “O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do” (Quran 3:135).

Alhamdulillah one of the most beautiful straightforward lectures I've ever heard we need more imams to speak for the voiceless. I love this brother he is 💯
Roland Hamid Pride in one’s ethnicity or genealogy is exactly what the prophet Muhammad came to get rid of. But people will never learn. And the Messenger of Allah said this in a Hadith. He said that his people would never abandon pride in genealogy.
@@abdelll9737 can you explain why Abu bakr Al sadiq and 'aisha radiallahu anhu were experts in the science of genealogy if there is zero value in learning it? Why did the salaf Learn this science if it was asabiyah? Why did Umar ibn khattab during his caliphate he wrote to bani ghassan a Christian arab tribe which was a vassal of the Romans. He told them we share a similar ancestry we are arabs and he asked them to ally with them against the Romans. Why did Umar mention they share the same culture, language, traditions etc if the Quran and the prophetic Sunnah forbids it. No harm in taking pride in your history, culture, traditions as long as it within the bounds of Islam. If I say my country is superior or my culture or my people this is asabiyah. The brother never said that.
This is a powerful lecture! We as African Americans need to collectively come together for the greater good of our people . We need to start Islamic schools, banks, and community centers. He is absolutely right about the Islamic schools. They don’t see our children. Our children are completely invisible in the Islamic( Arab/Pakistanis) schools. Bottom line they don’t want us there. We need to change Muslim family. We need to stop begging at the feet of these immigrants when these same groups don’t give a damn about us . Allah knows Best. In order to make changes in the black community it has to start with US!
Subhaanallaah I'm from Columbus, Ohio and my kids growing up going to the predominantly Somali infused schools. Where almost on a daily basis my children were told by somali children that they weren't real muslims because they were African American. And so I taught my children to ask them what was the prophet mohammed because hes not Somali
As a somali, I went a predominantly Arab school throughout my elementary and high school years, and many of those kids would ask me why are you a muslim your not a Arab. Hey, I was a kid, I had no answer for them but that continued for years. So my point is kids are brutal to each other, there is no limit to the hurt they can cause to other kids, and teaching your kid to answer back is a good way of putting confidence in your child. Jazakallhu khair
@@QueenRhaenyra waa'yaak I also grew up In a dominantly pakistanian an Arab school And was treated and told the same. May Allaah Preserve and increase the muslims Aameen
Abdi Then, what is your reasoning for teenagers and adult Muslimun who say they read Qur’aan and the ahadith, and the Tafseer of the Qur’aan? Those who attend the Masaajids and participate in the 5 daily prayers daily? Those who have attended the Universities of Islaam abroad in Saudi ‘Arabia, Sudan, and other parts of Africa and Asia? What about the Somali sisters whose parent tell them that African Americans are not fit for marriage? Yet their daughters marry Mushrikeen, Kaafirun, or having no belief? I agree with u sister...I've witness racism amongst Muslims alot in my 20 yrs of being a Muslim. And dont get me started on the subject of marriage between different countries Ya Allah it is sickening....I remember I(AA) was in the process of marrying a Somali girl from Canada. Her family was in agreement and we had started planning the wedding. A week before our families were to get together, her father who was in Somalia at that time told her "if you marry him I will disown you from the family!" She called me in tears on my way to visit! I pulled over on the highway because I couldn't see the road through my tears....I never saw her again! Her mom said it was because I didnt speak Somali language? We (brown Muslims) go through the same thing. And nobody has it worse than the Muslims in the Middle East who are being outright slaughtered by the kuffaar wholesale. It’s the age of deception and confusion that was prophesied 1400 years ago.
Abdelkarim Karim Since it is apparent that you’re not actually familiar with systemic oppression, generational mental and physical torture, and a TOTAL severing from ones roots and culture. Please allow me to briefly educate you. Clearly you do not know what it is like to be born in a society that has created and maintained laws that keep you and people of your race, in a positions of fear, disenfranchisement, and servitude. A system that’s been in place for CENTURIES. A system that will execute human beings who look like you, your brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers, solely because they didn’t “comply with the officer” or because they were “looking suspicious”. Again, a finely tuned system put in place for CENTURIES. A system that has gone unchecked by MILLIONS of people who immigrated to this country; people who’ve benefitted from the literal blood, sweat and tears of my Black and Native brothers and sisters. Yet, we rarely ever see any type of major political or social advocacy from the same people, who again have benefited from our oppression and suppression. I could go on but I’ll just recommend a couple of books that will aid in your US history education. The People’s History of the US-Howard Zinn and The New Jim Crow- Michelle Alexander. Let's be honest African American muslims made it possible for islam to be practiced in America single handed! Here is an example: most foreign muslims in America are just trying to fit in. Just look at how fashionable wearing a big beard is today!? I will say that that comes from our brothers in Philly during the early 2000s. Before that most foreign muslims shaved their beards off unless he was the Imam of a masjid. Now it cool...even the Christians jumped on board.

BLM is a gay organization that uses the disposability of black men deaths to forward their own agenda. I tis a trick bag to receive allocation of funds from liberal whites. Read up on the founders of the movement and their objectives. Also they prohibit heterosexual black males from being apart of the organization. Black Americans don't support BLM a coopted organization.
A somali brother put out a video that stated he don’t care about AA and the death of George Floyd. And he also stated he care more about using miswak them African American people and that’s what Shadeed is addressing. ASA, My brother i have to disagree with you on one point. Immigrant Muslims come here with no knowledge of what African Americans History is, The countries they come from have no respect for their own citizens, have no respect for their own Life. They come here looking down their noses at people, who in fact have open up doors for them even to be in these country. But you know what. It's our fault as African American. We have yet to read and follow these Quranic principals for our selves, We are quick to follow someone from another country, Yet we don't establish our own Business, schools etc. We are always trying to fit in with other people who don't accept us or appreciate us and the struggle it took for us to get we we are.
This brother also made the same derogatory and disgusting generalised remarks about somali sisters but he's quick to latch onto a video of a brother and somehow connect it to the wider somali community as having that same thinking its mental gymnastics at this point🤭.The other thing they could bring up is marriage which to that I would say a somali family would deny an African American or any other race white/turk etc for that matter its not racisim or anti-black focus on your own communities.
ASA, Imam warith deen Mohammed (RAA) said the exact same thing years ago. The African American Muslims who are not associated with Imam Mohammed(RAA) are finally catching on to what he has been saying. Stop Copying other peoples Culture.
Obviously he doesn’t think so. But to answer your question brother. Not only is it haraam (forbidden), it’s major major Shirk (polytheism). It’s like if the Quraysh asked the prophet to concede and compromise a little and to hold elections with them whether the prophet Muhammad was in the right or whether the Quraysh Pagans were in the right. To vote and decide whether Allah alone should be worshipped or whether we should be tolerant of other gods and allow the worship of Hubal, Laat, Manaat, ‘Uzzah as well. As that would be the proper democratic thing to do. Imagine voting in the time of the prophet to keep Islam inside the houses of the Muslims and make public life completely secular so as to not offend other religions and atheists etc. Imagine voting on whether Allah’s divine laws should be implemented or manmade laws. Exactly! Just as that would have been outrageous and polytheistic and Kufr Akbar (major disbelief in Allah/apostasy on the spot), so too is it major Kufr today. Allah’s laws do not change because we are in modern times. What applied in the time of the prophet regarding ‘Aqeedah (our belief system) applies to this day until the day of judgement. Allah alone can create laws and there is no debating or voting or discussing whether Allah’s laws should be followed or not. The mere suggestion that it should be up for debate is an act of apostasy.
Try to not make every thing Halal or Haram because most things are not haram. All most all haram things are very clear. Look at voting good vs bad effects and choose the right thing that fits your time and place.
@@abdelll9737 What you said is wrong. Voting will never make a person Mushrik. People are not voting to determine who to worship. By the way, If they vote for who to worship, still it is not Haram or Shirk. I vote to worship Allah and if somebody vote to worship an idol it is up to him/her. I will still worship Allah. No shirk here. Sometimes people will vote in their home to know where to put a dinner table!. Some cities will vote to elect somebody who make traffic law. How about 2 candidates who run for presidency of a country: one of them wants to make a war against another country to steal its resources and destroy its people and the other competitor wants to do only sanction against that country. 50/50. Your vote may determine if you will choose an oppressor or a killer. You have to choose one of them. I think you need to read about our prophet and his companion more. I suggest to read the first Ayat from Surat Alroom and its reason for revelation= sebeb Alnozool. Also surat Alanfal and its tarsir which showed you our prophet wait till Ansar agree. The same applied to Uhud where Ansar wants to fight Almushrkeen outside Alamadeena and our prophet wants to fight in side Almadeena. The prophet respect voting and fight outside Almadeena. Let the one who teach you aqeeda teach you about the prophet first. He is not Harsh, He is simple, He asked question, He accept opinions, he is the mercy for the universe.

In my opinion Omar Suleiman has been one of the foremost in being outspoken on several platforms and/or lectures to discuss the rights of different minority groups, especially African Americans. Not sure as to how he became involved in the LGBT stances or marches, but is it fair to call him out and not in the same breath question as to why ANY Islamic speaker, Imam or otherwise are not speaking up about what is happening (besides this talk), in this current killing and protest of George Floyd. Honestly speaking from time to time, you’ll hear an Imam, speak against the injustices in a khutbah or two, (not saying that Islamically speaking according Shariah that there must be), but I rarely see and/or hear any Muslim scholars, Imam’s or leaders walking and publicly standing up against these killings. I believe it is a lot of layers to all of this, some of which you have mentioned. Nonetheless I feel that to call out one Imam, you must call them all out in standing up for what is going on in the African American communities, immigrant, African American or otherwise. I just feel that out of all the imams/daees (student speakers of knowledge) famous on social media platforms who have spoken up and out for justice specifically for The African Americans, Omar Suleiman has been one of the☝️that comes to mind. Not saying that a collective Islamic movement in standing up for what is happening is necessary (it is supposed to be part of our religion and what we practice to speak out and stand up for social justice for all) and I don’t know Omar personally, however if we could get a platform/talk started, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were invited to join - I would not be surprised to see his presence.

Is Voting Haram?
Its definitely not a good idea
@@khalidibrahim5362 I agree, whicb is why I avoided saying it is haram in my answer, nonetheless I say its not a good idea to ever vote

He shouldn't calm down, but he needs to know that most Somalis dragged Saeed Ragea and that guy named Abdi on Facebook through the mud for what they said. He seems unaware of the unanimity of Somalis opposing these guys, and I wish he knew more, but he doesn't need to calm down.
@@JetBlackAir Also somalis are black. We are not any different than African Americans. We have gone through the same systemic anti black racism our African Americans have endured. There suffering is our suffering because we are both black and Africans

@@mrhassanali3297, I know. I took time to get to know the ones around me in Atlanta, and found they were actually nicer to non-Somalis than to each other, even. They weren't sell-outs and they weren't against us. Sadly, though, because of Saeed Ragea, Shadeed doesn't know about this.
That's what you get for following the Arab Muslims , looking for the approval of the Arabs . Later you will find the urgent need to separate from the Eastern Muslims . For some reason they seem to think that they owned Islam . and in this , they are sadly mistaken. Little that them know , Allah sent us The Mahdi ,the last messenger of Allah . We as Moorish Moslems bow to no one but Allah, the day should come when they will bow at our feet .That time , has come .
As salaamu alaikum. (I didn’t listen to the entire lecture yet....I had to comment at 17:25) - I believe I understand what point you’re making Shadeed Muhammad regarding the selective activism. But let’s be fair; why are you coming for Omar Suleiman? I could be wrong....I’m open for comments. As an African American woman convert to Islam, I watch/ listen to a variety of Islamic speakers. May Allah Most Merciful guide us all and may we be conscious enough to hear, hearken and act upon His call,, WHOEVER we are, WHEREVER we are, Amin!
The Blackman is GOD!!!! & They know it.....its just that we still continue 2be among the sheeple
If the black man is God why are we going through these issues? You are really ignorant
What is this shiekh and somali community?
Your dividing the Ummah.your Somali beef sounds like personal problem.
The somalis aren't angels.single person or few can't represent the Somali Ethnicity that are almost 35 million population which are natives of 4 different countries in East Africa."Djibouti,Ethiopia,Kenya, Somalia"
He said that mess publicly and he gets checkd publicly
Blame sh said raage he said uttered a very bad statement that hurt the imam so badly even though he apologized but the damage was done if you listen to him keenly (1:12:00 he said I don't talk to this people meaning somalis because of what said rage said.
@@abdullahisalat7287 You are wrong. Shadeed muhammad said he stopped talking to African American brothers who internalized the ignorant statements made my said rageah about African Americans being a product of one night stands. Do you know some african American brothers messaged Shadeed Muhammad saying they found nothing wrong with Said Rageah statements. Some of them were actually close people to him. He never claimed he stopped talking to the Somali community but rather his own community who found nothing wrong with Said Rageah ignorant statements. @@mrhassanali3297 my contention is he gave a lecture in Kenya speaking to a somali audience but he felt the need to mention black Americans? In Kenya you have Muslim women engaged in sex tourism but he speaks on people living on another continent. It seems he wanted to push a personal agenda. There are many issues in Kenya Somalis and non somali Muslims in Kenya have. If he does speak on black American issue do the research the empirical data says only 8% of black American children are fatherless. If he said single households the moms have primary custody there is validity to that but it is a nuanced discussion that has many layers. This premise black fathers abandon their children can't be supported by empirical data even Dr. Tommy Curry thoroughly debunked these lies which black feminists and liberals whites came parroting.
They the store owner did offer to pay for George Floyd funeral
Once again you have missed the point
8:17 let's also not forget your comment about Somali women in public I can only imagine what you say behind close doors... so much hate. You are both acting like high school boys instead of community leaders. Very shameful. Majority of the Somali community sees African American muslims equal my friends and I welcome and take new african American muslims under our wings and treat them like family. Yet you decided to completely disrespect the Somali women because you were hurt about his ignorant comment... WE HAVE BEEN ON THE STREETS NIGHT AND DAY PROTESTING SO AGAIN YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT NOT STANDING WITH THE AA COMMUNITY IN SOLIDARITY smh
Youre not African American your opinion doesnt count

I don't think he was slandering somali sisters, he was simply stating to brother Sayeed that there is also bad apples amongst somali women, use them as an example instead.
Stop the ‘assabiyyah. It is rotten to the core!
@@modougaye1000 it was definitely a slander And the way he apologized after word said he meant every word. Clearly he has a huge disgust for Somali women and he used this opportunity to get it out of his chest.
