After 18 years to did nails ... I decided to charged for glitter or stones or ombre or all nail art and I afraid to charge up and after several videos of Tracey talks of her price. I decided to charge with promotion for the next month after I says the new prices all my clientele! And Now I have no more client to search just a price but more quality ! So I loosen maybe 5 clients maximum ... the speed and price changed my life with YN ! 2 years ago I take 2 h and more for rebalancing and today I did 45 min !!!! That the secret for my increase!!!!!! 1K thanks of YN 😍
You guys have the best and most comprehensive Nail content on the Tube. Especially loving the Biz talk series, very much appreciated! Thanks guys, keep on being awesome!! ❤️ 👍🏽
As someone who isn’t even in tech school yet but is starting to think about their business, these videos are so helpful and vital in respecting my own boundaries and will probably avoid so many headaches because of this great advice!
I charge different prices for different services. My full sets (acrylic, polygel, hard gels) are the same price. When I sculpt or use tips, I charge the same. Gel manicures, dip, and pedicures are different prices. I pretty much agree with everything that Tracy said in this video. I know that my nail art is very specific to me so my clients know what they will be paying with no issues. They don’t know anybody else in the area that can do it so that is a plus. They are not searching anymore once they find someone they like and can do the job. They don’t even ask me what my pricing is anymore because they are used to it. Most of my clients tell me that I need to charge more for my services so guess what I will be doing this year. It’s amazing to have clients that understand my business. I also believe in raising your prices consistently as well. By the time I raise my prices again, it will have been a year and a half that has passed. I think that it is very fair. I also think that clients should be paying for the continuing education that we get to better ourselves and advance our skills. Other professions make more money depending on the amount of certifications they have so it should be the same for us as well. If you are an educator for a brand, charge more because that certification doesn’t come easy. We also need to be making more so that we can set money aside for retirement. We don’t get that in this industry and I just think we need more business classes for nail techs so that we can thrive even more. People need to know how much each service is costing them product wise then time then how much we want to profit from that.
@@youngnailsinc thank you! I have great clients that tell me I'm worth more but I do have my days where I feel guilt because I charge so much more than surrounding salons in my area. But like you guys said in the video, this is something that I have to get past because it is a business. Thank you for such great content on the Biz Talk! I love them all!
I know one girl that does “packages” or combos, she has the folder on her table for the client to pick and choose. So a fill with 2 accent nails with 10 Swarovski and the rest a regular polish is X amount. A fill with 4 different designs on nails is X amount. She made it beautiful like a menu so it was easy for the client and the client would just choose which combo he/she wanted but obviously the tech already calculated the cost ahead of time. It’s kind of smart because we know we’re getting our money’s worth but it makes it easy on the client to choose what’s in their budget. Im thinking of doing the same, but I would loooove to hear Tracy’s formula! Please do a video on that! Btw nice jacket!
tabitha does that and even sends you a pdf example of her prices and rules. i purchased it and it really helped me when i started my pricing. i live in a town where everyone only trusts a select few of colors to do their nails so im still struggling but my work will show them.
15 years into the business and still strongly struggling with this subject. I recently did a little price increase and feel so guilty implementing it. I don't even know why! Thanks for this Trace and Habib!
I increased my price starting April and included pedis to my service (starting May) and I didn’t lose any clients! They all encourage me to increase my prices! So thankful for all your videos that helps me be a better technician ❤️🙏🏾😍
Your channel is incredible! I am taking my nail course in January and watch your videos daily and they are helping me so much! I’m so excited for this career and you guys inspire me 😊
Great subject! I am planning on reopening my studio after being gone for almost 8yrs, I'm worried about pricing! Afraid to start,Don't wanna scare off anyone, but I need to make a living!
@@youngnailsinc true, I just don't want to have the same prices ,I had 8 yrs ago, but,If I dont raise them ,they would be the same prices everyone else is currently using! The difference being, I'm starting all over,I can't BELEIVE that the same salons here still using the same prices, I charged 8 yrs ago!
This such good info. Thank you so much for addressing this. It's so tough to increase with people you've done for year at the same price. You are 100% correct also would like to add... We have a great talent and needed to value ourselves and our craft. Thanks again.
For me i charge by lenght because it's not the same amount of work/products. I have fix prices depend on the length they go for & nail art are extra per finger. It was hard for me to do a price list because people in my area want extra nails but don't want to pay the prices that goes with it. I have 2 years experience i'm pretty good & invest a lot in quality products & classes to perfect my craft. It's still pretty hard to built a clientele but by watching your videos i'm comfortable now with my prices so thank you💕
Great advice on this video. Thank you! I am starting in the nails world, about to finish my Nail Tech studies in Puerto Rico. Here a lot of nail tech's work from they'r house so prices change in the salon and by area, but it kind of depends on if you are new tech or if you are a more experienced tech. At least here. A full set of really short nails, one color can vary from $20 to $25, more colors or art or stones may be $2 to $5 more each.
Bit late with commenting on this, but i have a set pricing structure and it is as follows: Removal i.e gel polish, filing off old product (both cost the same), IBX nail strengthening treatment, then for a manicure (no gel polish included, just clear), gel overlay with 1 gel polish colour, sculpted nails (price vary depending on length and shape, starting at $67), then 3 different set of infill prices depending how soon the client is coming back in and if there is any damage or lifting. I then charge a POA on any repairs, crystals, hand painted nail art.
I love how you guys break it down and make it simple to understand and apply. I have struggled lately with pricing moving from Dallas where I could charge a base price of 65$ or more, to Oklahoma City where ppl have a heart attack if their nails are 40$ or more. The salon I am at charges $20 for a basic full set of acrylics with regular polish and 15$ extra for gel polish. I went from making 1k or more weekly to making 3-$600 weekly and I’m so ready to throw in the towel
Oh no, so sorry to hear about that struggle. For sure understandable given the scenario but give yourself awhile to adjust, just like you had to do in the beginning you are re-building now so it will take time.
i'm learning to become a nail tech on the side and tho i do love the other nail channels here, yours has really offered invaluable information--that isn't just technique and application--that doesn't seem to come up elsewhere. for whatever reason it's a "touchy subject", despite the fact it's how you make your income?? but thanks for the insight!
I just love you guys! It so important to have this knowledge, as a nail tech. I did exactly what you said charge 5-10$ more and my clients do pay and they are not being weird about this. 60$ CAD for full set 40$ CAD for fill and Extra 5-20$ for (nail art) no matter what But the thing is that, yes i do make money BUT im a BAAAAAAD money manager, like i spend the money that I've earned on other things and not investing it in my business. I want to find a way to try and manage this but it's not a success yet! Please if you have and video or if you can make one it will be SOOOOO HELPFUL 😭❤️ I look you guys as my mentors for my business and i know that you have some solutions for this! Thank you for your knowledge and i will forever be a supporter ❤️
I love the way you break down pricing in your How Much videos and this video was very helpful to hear general business advice for nail techs that include pricing structure. I have one particular product in mind that I am having difficulty pricing out. How much do you charge for Mani-q in a pot under gel color? Thanks in advance!
I LOVE that you guys were in Reno!!!!! I wish I had finished school so I could have been there. The young nails team really motivates me to want to go back and finish so I can finally have the business I've been dreaming of. I took a class at Gemini nails back in 2016 when I had just started school and pricing questions were even popular then. It was an OPI acrylic class and gel polish class. Loads of nail techs that were there hadn't changed their prices in years and they were struggling financially. And there was even one guy who did the most amazing airbrush work and charged $25 for a full set and the airbrush design. 😱 I'll never ever forget that. Totally scary to think such talent was going under paid.
@@youngnailsinc even if the YN Team isn't back for a while, when I finish cosmetology school I'll be sure to head down to socal to take classes with you. Its such a pleasure learning from you via RUclips, I can't wait to get hands on experience in from you guys! 😊
I would love to hear more about offering looks. What might that structure look like? Starting with examples of more simple sets and maybe having a couple more options that grow in intricacy with set prices so they have an idea of what they are paying for a certain look, maybe?
Yea that would be one way to do it, like a look of the week or something then have like different colors available or something along those lines just so clients have a visual of what they are paying for
I live in Poland and in the salon where I work price for infill is 80 PLN (common price for the city where the salon is). With that price come gel polish and easy design on 2 fingers. Everything extra cost 5 PLN up depending on how hard something is to paint or how much time it consumes. I think it's a great deal for me to practice art and also for my clients to have a little twist in their mani ;)
Because of this series i started charging for glitter and art and what a difference I have a basic price for just acrylic, additional for shellac on top and then a separate charge for glitter and art so when someone asks how much a set will be i can work it out and tell them. Plus i now actually make money off my glitter. for someone who maybe has bitten nails and just wants them to look a bit nicer its not too expensive cause they often don't want full glam nails, just something natural so its not very fair if they have to pay the same as someone having full glitter etc. So glad i put a structure in place ☺️
Hey Guys, I think your advice on pricing is spot on. I'd love to see more of your presence in Toronto Canada in terms of training, products, & shows. Gotta tell you, I'm totally jealous of those techs who have easy access to your training & products,💞
We have about 7 distributors up there that typically offer education. You can locate distributors at youngnails.com under "resources" "locate distributor"
I absolutely LOVED this video! You have helped me understand how to utilise my services and products and earn a profit at the moment I earn zero profit. Like a lot of many ladies and gents who comment or will be commenting, I am so afraid to charge what I really should be charging. It seems ‘drastic’ to me, but in reality it is not. As Tracey says like a pizza if you want the full shebang then you have to pay for all those extras. I just have no idea how to start and where to begin. I’m frightened to introduce a new pricing system I already have base prices for certain services without any art or bling added. I charge a set price for a set of art on top I have never charged per nail, this is what I’m scared of doing. Some of my art is very time consuming like an extra hour for what they want and if I changed it to each product used, how many stones, how many nails with glitter I fear for my life I won’t have any clients left. Even if I make it clear, the quality of the product, more time spent and the intricacy of the design, I know in their head they will be thinking omg I can’t afford that now. I am so scared. Xxx
You don't have to price point exactly as we say, but definitely charge more for added work, keep in mind it is not our job to budget for our clients. The clerk at the grocery store doesn't say "she can't afford milk for $5 I'll just charge her $3." No the price is the price and that is what they chose. That's why its nice to have cheaper items on your menu like a solid color gel polish is less than all the art work. Then it is up to the client which they would like to purchase.
Hi! Thank you all so much for your biz talks, I love them so much and learned a lot from you all. You talked about not doing different prices for tips versus sculpts, I personally enjoy using sculpts better than placing on the tip and then having to shape it (ultimately twice or more).. Do you ask the client what they prefer or is that strictly a nail technicians preference?
If you prefer doing sculpts, it is perfectly acceptable to only offer that service if you are self employed. If you work for a salon that offers both tips & sculpts, you can ask what your client prefers, but make sure you charge the same & that they understand the benefits to sculptured nails (they are custom shaped exactly to their nail & are not a “one size fits most” tip, acrylic bonds stronger to the nail than glue & a tip will, building a whole nail with acrylic is stronger than having the layer of plastic underneath).
I feel my pricing structure is on point...now granted I've been doing nails for over 15 yrs. By my second year I was charging $70 for a Pink n White or Color Acrylic French Set..fills were $45 and back fills were $55...then of course trends expanded and so did my services. As of Jan this year I gave myself a raise based on my skills increasing. Which means I attended continuing education classes and pushed myself in the area of shaping.. acrylic marbling...ombre..glitter fades...Swarovski crystal designs etc.. Now I had to take a cont. ed class on tips because I am a Sculpt Tech but I wanted to be able to offer tip services (in a jiffy) as well as sculptured nails. Reason is I enjoy McDonalds pricing structure if I want to be frugal I can get a small caramel frappe $2 plus a breakfast sandwich for $1 and I'm not breaking the bank but I still have the option of going for a pricier combo a la carte n Oreo Mcflurry...a parfait..etc...you get my point...with that type of pricing structure..as a client I'm in control of how much I wish to spend without face to face embarrassment because I can't afford the service...I wanted my client to have pricing options depending on their budget that month...so I can do a short tip set with gel polish in 40-45mins=$38..of course though I am an upsell queen so...yeah and my clientele is predominantly sculptured freestyle set girls which sets the trend for new clients being referred to me they typically book on my app what they see on my client who referred them...it's an art! jazzitupnailshairmakeup.booksy.com Check out my pricing and lmk what you guys thinks Habib and Tracey...love these videos!!
Wow I feel grateful for your advices although in Mexico the prices are pretty cheaper than 60 dls 😂 I am just starting my business and yeaaah I feel the fear of losting clients if I say the price but I need no break that fear wall Thank you guys 🙏
This biz talk made my day😊. In the process of increasing prices and i keep procrastinating! I’ve been doing nails since 1992 so my clients have been with me long. I’m alway saying “don’t worry about it this time” with nail art because it used to be simple stuff. Now that more nail art is in and more detailed i no i need to charge. I’m loosing money between the extra time plus the purchase of glitters ect. , but don’t wanna hit them with a big increase and they leave to go to a “walk in place”. they have been so loyal for years. Help lol. If i now charge $50 set and $35 fills without art what would you suggest for new prices and art? And i use all Young Nails products! Only 2 other brands of gel polish. Clients are getting a quality product. 😊
I would increase by $5 like said in the video, then just a couple dollars here and there with art. Don't be afraid of odd prices too like a fill at $40 + 1 design on ring finger = $43 again it won't seem like much more to them but it will make a difference for you.
Thank you so much. Yes this video answers so many of my issues. I’m just gonna have to jump in and go for it! A lot of my clients are getting at least 2 nails per hand of art. I always charged more for gel polish but you include 1 color. So i incorporate that and charge art and they won’t feel so hard hit. Is that a good idea?
yep! And just letting them know before or while making a decision. I think the thing that frustrates clients most is when they think its going to be one price then the bill at the end is some huge surprise! If they know ahead of time and are agreeing to the cost then that's their decision.
Ok thank you. Oh yes definitely don’t wanna hit hard that’s why im nervous and never changed for art. My clients are only used to $1 increase every couple years lol. and i freak telling them that lol.
i would love for you guys to go over how much you should be charging for swarovski crystals! i feel like blinged out nails have hugely surged in popularity, and theres so many ways people charge for them
I’m so glad you put this out today. I’ve been trying to structure my pricing before I open my in home studio. My question is would you still charge the same for in home as for a studio rental? I’m the only nail tech in my town that sculpts with forms so I can’t use the pricing structure as other salons for tip overlays.
Also how much more should you charge for a French tip? I saw in another “How Much” series that had the French tip that Tracy said $5 per nail. But what about a full set?
We actually are planning an upcoming video on full set smile lines for this very question. The home studio question is kind of depending on the setting and your clientele
I looked at salons prices within the hour from me and compared my product cost and how much extra I would make if I was priced the same. Then determined if I need to charge more or not. Also I charge for art, glitters, length etc. Also harder as the salons near me say they do gel but really it's acrylic they are using.
Thank you for your input on these topics, so helpful! I really want to get to Anaheim to take your course on Acrylic/Gel overlays, but I don’t have the income yet, but one day....
Such great advice. I have always used the structure. I am also a hairstylist and makeup artist so I have base prices and add on prices for all of the styling I do. I also recommend looks or create looks that I may have as a special for a time. I'm in NYC so I make sure that all my prices are commensurate to the market :-)
Figuring out your pricing on acrylic or gel full sets, being say starting at $60, assuming they are a set length, how would you charge if a customer wanted those nails really long? How much extra would you charge for the extra length? $120 per set?
I love the idea of a flat price for one glitter no matter how many nails they want done ... it makes it simple for everyone to understand. Also the markup for glitter makes a profit even with just one glitter x10 nails so it’s a win/win 🤗💕 I love the logic in your thinking 🤓
i have that problem, 😭 so little by little im sticking to my prices and some clients are more than fine with my prices and about 2 persons havent come back... i feel so good charging accordinly and even if they dont leave me a tip, its ok because im still getting what im supposed to...
I have two tier pricing for my art : simple art such as stamping and glitter is included with new design(i want everyone to enjoy nail art and it advertizes for me while my clients wear it. Second tier complicated art i charge extra that is art like character faces, specific glitter placement art that takes me 45mins to a hour to complete. I show all my clients what the differences in my simple art and complicated art is .:)I also get even the most reserved clients to try nail art at some point because i always share new art techniques and supplies. Always updating :)It's fun to have pretty nails and my clients personalities come out in that freedom:) My system is you want more u pay more but even if u are basic pricing u do not have boring nails...well unless u want them 😆
I absolutely love watching your videos. I am currently a student and I feel like these videos have taught me more than school has lol. Anyways, my question is would you charge extra per colored acrylic?
Yep. Charging for all additional items, even if you are only charging a couple dollars. It will add up for you, and as long as you explain to your client along the way so the decision is theirs to make if they want the additional items at cost.
It's always said that you don't want clients picking one over the other due to pricing. It's done based on the clients needs How do you know the difference in what a client needs other than allergies? Is it just based on what type of design they want or is there like a specific reason you choose who gets what?
Great advice! Always love your content! I am currently working on price restructuring, so this comes at a great time. Do you feel there is a best time of year to change pricing?
I have a question In the Netherlands people are quite cheap aka 60 euros for nails is a go no for most clients. I got my certificate in August and opened my salon in October. I ask 25 euros for a new set polygel including nail art (just gelpolish art so no 3D stuff) For a refill I ask 20 euros For babyboom I charge 5 euros extras on both services Next year I will keep the same price except for longer nails since its more products I'm using. What's a decent price for a beginner?
Hi guys I'm from South Africa and still learning so I'm slow take 3 hours on set of nails. So to get some clients do nail.art for free and also don't have a big variety of art and still don't have that confidence yet how can i better my time and confidence.I don't have the money to buy more polish and glitters I just buy the basic.
Start by timing yourself then making it a goal to shave off about 5 min over the period of the next couple weeks. As for art get creative with what you already have, doesn't require a ton of product to create beautiful sets, but definitely don't give art away for free. Check out our videos here online to work on speed and confidence, we have videos on both!
Q: What questions or criteria do you use when determining whether to use gel or acrylic on a client. I work with both and other than application and removal I feel like there isn’t a lot of difference. I mean depending on the design ( boomers or transparent effect) why would someone be a better candidate for one over the other.
Like Tracey touches on in the video, sometimes someone with extremely bitten nails or "ski slope nails" do better with acrylic to start because it can actually cast the nails helping them grow. Some people have allergies to acrylic so sometimes gel can be a better fit. It is our jobs as techs to be thoroughly educated on all mediums so we are able to provide what is right for each specific client.
Can you explain if a person needs a fill but wants you to remove all the old products and give them a completely new nail design, is the same as coming in w/ no nails on, s charging for a new set & take down is appropriate since you're not just doing a fill
If you are completely removing the old set and re-applying, you would definitely charge for the removal and full set since this will take more time and is an additional service on top of your full set.
I raised my prices jan1 buy $5 across the board...it was a long time coming. What pushed me over the edge was someone who did nails that I knew was charging more than me. We worked together at one point and it pushed me to do it. I did not lose one client. It was a good push. For nail art, I charge a kind of different system. For 2 nails, anything stamping, one stripe, hand painted is $5. Then I charge $2 nail if more than 2 nails. Which usually is $20 extra when I am done. My clients tell me what they want, and I tell them how much. Sometimes, ok a lot of times-they say just do whatever...Then I say how much do you want to spend? When your open with them, its easy, then they trust you. After the young nails class, in Reno-I am going to raise my nail art prices from $2 to $3. Which was the only one I did not raise. The holidays are financial bonus $ times!! Thank you!
The client will pay it if they want your work ! They know the salon across the street won't be able to achieve that look they want . So they won't care tbh 🖤
I had the question of posting your pricing menu on your instagram? Not only to notify in person but letting your customers and potential customers know. Let them know ahead of time. I love these talks as well it has definitely opened my eyes to more of what I will need to be successful.
Hi guys! Great video! When is the best time of year to raise your prices? I’ve heard October - because it’s right before the holidays. Is this true? Or should you raise them based on demand or something else? I haven’t raised my prices in 2 years (which is how long I’ve been in business in my private studio). I’ve been thinking about this topic lately so this is right on time! Thanks! -Christina
I would agree sometime post summer, but pre holiday season. Summertime can sometimes naturally be a slower time because of inconsistent schedules, kids home etc. but people almost always want nails done for special occasions through the holiday season.
Hi guys grate video, I live in Dallas Texas I do dipping powder I use to work an a salon and now I’m going on my on, how much should I charge, salon charge $40 for a regular set
I agree with what you guys are saying and having it simple seems so much better- I like the pizza example that says it all 😂😂. Tell me tho what would you charge say for a pink and white fill? Same as the full set?
Nice video as always ! I kinda charge per minute but it lead me to charge upon art technique. I do 3 levels of art, and go to 30€ upcharge every level. Like glitterfade, ombre, effect like chrome or unicorn, anything which use one more ingredient is the 1st level for +30€. 2nd level is medium level like marble, or a mix of chrom nails and glitter nails.. or dry flower or embedding materials in nails (more difficult) its +60€ and last level is high level art like character drawing, complex mix and match. How do you think about that ?
I don’t do a lot of glitter or chromes, I tend to get asked to hand paint the art. Like hand painted bunnies this year, or hand painted tattoo letters, or characters. Sometimes on all 10 nails. It can take an extra hour to and hour and a half to hand paint all 10. I do not know how to charge for that kind of thing. Per min is hard because I don’t want to set a timer and feel rushed to save them money. Sadly I have a second business where I paint art dolls and I charge per order via detail, and difficulty, and they aren’t cheap, but to charge for nails is so damn hard to figure out for me. For hand painted pieces. It could be a full set of Santa and 4 reindeer 10 nails (one character per nails) or 10 nightmare before Christmas characters. It’s the how to charge I am so stuck with, so I end up doing it for next to nothing if not nothing. I’m making a new menu to be in place July 17th for my two year anniversary surviving a car wreck. I need to implement this in my new menu.
Absolutely need to be charging for that, not only does it take time and money but so much talent! Maybe you can charge by finger or character like 1-2 = said price vs 8-10 = said price etc. Or upon level of difficulty like minimal artwork vs extreme hand painting etc. Try asking some other hand painting artists to see if they have good advice as to how to break it down.
YoungNailsInc, thank you. When I do a set of dolls I charge $150. People buy them all year. Ornaments I charge $80 and up, and they fly off my store. But nail art, it’s so temporary (even though it’s work for me) that I feel guilt, almost like how do I place value on it. It’s a real shame. 26 years as a tech and this is where I am stuck at, and I can preach pricing to other techs all day. Awful.
@@youngnailsinc Thanks after 14 years in Nails I am starting up again after a 4 year break and I will charge for art. glitter was always free. I don't know why.
Hello. One thing I struggle with is fill pricing when a customer got a permanent design on the initial set. Do you file it down to a thin layer of acrylic and start the set from there or do you require a soak off each time? How do you price each?
Fill and design change should be priced differently than just a basic fill. As for design changes we always file off not soak. If you start with a thin clear or natural base you just file down to the base layer and re apply.
Well what about us just beginning? I’m confident but I’m still new and learning and my work may not look as great as someone who’s been in the game for some years. How can I set my prices but not be way over my head with beginner skills? I want to build clientele without running them away with my prices.
The information would still be the same, always wanting to charge for art and additional items. Your base prices would just start out a little lower, then once you realize you are getting fairly consistently booked, increase your base price by about $5. When you're starting out offer deals like free art on your first set or something, that ways you get a client and they know that was a 1 time price. etc
What I don't get with the glitters is, if you use only one glitter you use the same total amount of glitter as if you used 3, the glitter is just more dimensional but it's not more. Maybe I am overthinking, but maybe making the price proportional would make more sense.
I wish this could be implemented in the UK, but people just won’t pay it! They see something on insta & they think £30 & won’t come back if you charge more because they can go to places that do have £25 flat rate! I tried it & lost almost all my clients x
Are you guys pretty strict when it comes to your clients being on a 2 or 3 week rotation? Im debating on being more strict about that because as im sure you know, when they wait too long more lifting takes more time to deal with.. also a salon owner asked me if I charge those people more because of the extra work and time it takes.. but at the same time I know people cant always come every 2 weeks because it can be hard on the wallet.. do you recommend me being more strict about a set rotation and weed out the ones who cant pay to come so often? If not, would you recommend charging more? Thanks!
If someone chooses to extend the appt time out that can vary because all nails are different some clients can go 2 weeks and need a fill when some can go 4 & have the same grow out. I would say it's on you to access the situation. There is a difference in a fill & a full re-balance when it' grown half way down the nail and the product placement is completely off. You know then you have a lot more filing, shaping and product used, therefore taking more time. So I'd say you guarantee your work for 2 weeks, if they decide to go longer and something breaks they would also be charged for any broken nails.
This definitely true ! I use to feel bad to charge client when they wanted add ons . But you have to think if the salon across the street is charging that for a shitty ass set wth I look like not charging it for a bomb ass outcome ! YOU HAVE TO GET OVER Not CHARGING FOR ANY ADD ON .
Hey guys! I was wondering if you could possibly do a video on clients who don't confirm their appointment but still show up and get angry. So basically all of my clients know that I confirm a day before their appointment it's nothing new. So the last couple of weeks I've had two clients not confirm their appointments even 30 minutes to an hour before their appointment. And which then I would message them saying that I would have to cancel their appointment since I did not get a confirmation from them. And usually I would either book someone else who have wanted that appointment or I would go do Banking and what not. So what ends up happening is they would still show up and expect to get their services done. And their excuse was they don't go on social media, even though it would say they were on like multiple times that day. And then they get mad at me for canceling their appointment. I mean i can't just sit around and hope that they come to their appointment. So I guess my question is how would you deal with clients like that? And was I wrong to cancel their appointments without knowing if they were coming? Thanks ☺
Unfortunately these are frustrations of this career. Luckily with text reminders and messages it's like a written confirmation. Policies must be made mandatory and enforced for clients to understand they need to follow them. This is how we make a living. So as Tracey has referenced before it needs to be an open conversation with clients that your policies are A,B,&C and if not followed they will be removed from client list. Let them know that there is an appt confirmation that is required prior to appt and if not completed you will not expect them at said appt. Cancellation fees always help this scenario as well. Again an open honest face to face conversation to be had.
can you make a video on how not to mix your business with family how giving them a discount or them coming in for free services can affect your business I’m struggling with that right now with all the expenses I have or underestimating how much I charge them feeling I need to take them when they want and me feeling bad saying no I feel like a lot of people in this industry deal with that I curious how they go about it.. thank you 🙏🏽 love you’re products and videos btw 💕
Look if Tracey was my nail tech I wouldn’t care if she ambushed me with a new pricing structure at my appointment I’d pay it just because it’s her and her work is well worth it
I just started my nail salon. Tomorrow is my very first working day. 1 client in. YAY. I only work with the natural nail and gelpolish. So i have steady prices for 2 or more colors. Nailart, soakoff service. First i thought... soakoff service is for free, it’s a gift service from me. But later on i tought, nope i have to pay for that soakoff products to. Let’s make a good and steady pricelist so my clients know what to expact from me and the services i do.
Congratulations! Yes always be clear and upfront for all the prices, its the best way, and client will always be happy to know the why and what. Best of Luck!
Hi guys love your products and channel I charge $30 full set acrylic or gel with gel polish, fill $ 28, dip $25 on natural $30 on tip, $25 gel manicure, $15 regular manicure, $5 shape, $5-$10 length, $5-$10 art per nail, $5 matte gel top coat $5 crystals up to 10pc now my question is what should I be charging for different shapes of crystals and quantity and same for the Swarovski crystals price and quantity for regular shapes and different shapes also should I charge for gel polish over acrylic and how much hope you can help I do charge $5 above the actual price in my area for acrylic set everyone change $25
Usually 1 gel polish color is included with service. Special shapes and lengths are usually an additional $5/$10. Stones if they are quality usually start around $3-$5 for a couple and more like $10-$20 for full nail
YoungNailsInc thank you for replying I do charge for additional gel color $5 each but wasn't so sure what to charge for Swarovski crystals for few or a full nail
Good morning i am curious because I am just starting out and my goal is to target women who can't afford salon prices. So with that being said I wondering if I am doing this right?? Full set starts at $20 and fills start at $15. I know that is really cheap however again im targeting the women whom came afford the salon.
That would definitely be it's own avenue, and admire what your intentions are here, but then you have to consider where will your funding come from? That would barely be enough to cover products let alone your rent, bills etc.
@@youngnailsinc that is true, as of now I am using mia secret, however, I also have ordered 2-42 pc acrylic sets off of Amazon. I know that I need to use better quality products as i said I'm just starting out. I am trying to get involved in doing video blogs on the test and reviewing other products from other companies and promoting for them. I do have a meeting next week with a possible company that I would like to promote. I would love to do a test and review on your product and promote it to my clientele and audience. For me just starting out I have a pretty good clientele and audience on all my pages and I just started a youtube channel. Check me out on fb, or on here @iidslovelynails. My email is jessicaiid2192@gmail.com
I’m struggling with this so much 😭 I was going to go to that Reno class but I couldn’t afford it at the moment ☹️ Anyways. I just started at a salon. Ive been charging $45 for ANY SET plain set, rhinestones, nail art. And same with fills. Reason why I’m scared to charge extra is that I love applying rhinestones and if I charge for them they’re no longer going to want them 😓 Im so bad at charging sometimes I’ll be like ehhh $40 is okay after just soaking off nails and applying art 🤦🏽♀️ Gosh help me lol I get told my prices are cheap for the stuff that I do. I guess like most people I’m scared that I won’t get any clients if I up my prices 😓
I too love applying rhinestones but was afraid to charge. I fixed this by making little rhinestone bundles of different sizes and quantities, and having them priced and visible to clients. Ex: half bundle $10 (covers half a nail or a few on a couple nails). When people know what they're getting for their money they're more comfortable paying for it. My clients have gotten used to what I charge for rhinestones and now I don't have to keep pre-made bundles out they just know what the price is now and I charge for it.
@@Adii29pink7 I put them in small baggies or clear mixing jars with a price sticker on them. I liked the clear jars best because they're easier to display and stack in a pretty pyramid with price on the bottom.
So happy to hear about your success! Congrats!

Always charge your worth! Especially when you are fully booked and your clients are already encouraging you! Clearly they know your worth as well!
@@youngnailsinc ml
Very interesting, sounds like a great option.
tabitha does that and even sends you a pdf example of her prices and rules. i purchased it and it really helped me when i started my pricing. i live in a town where everyone only trusts a select few of colors to do their nails so im still struggling but my work will show them.
@@omegaalexis296 do you have the link where I can purchase it too???
Thank you all so much for this!!! So helpful
15 years into the business and still strongly struggling with this subject. I recently did a little price increase and feel so guilty implementing it. I don't even know why! Thanks for this Trace and Habib!
Haha don't feel guilty for charging your worth!
Live this! You set your prices based off of how much respect you demand and deserve!
Always!
I increased my price starting April and included pedis to my service (starting May) and I didn’t lose any clients! They all encourage me to increase my prices! So thankful for all your videos that helps me be a better technician ❤️🙏🏾😍
Congrats!

You can set your prices, and always offer deals!
Absolutely!
Love y’all biz talks helps so much
For me i charge by lenght because it's not the same amount of work/products. I have fix prices depend on the length they go for & nail art are extra per finger. It was hard for me to do a price list because people in my area want extra nails but don't want to pay the prices that goes with it. I have 2 years experience i'm pretty good & invest a lot in quality products & classes to perfect my craft. It's still pretty hard to built a clientele but by watching your videos i'm comfortable now with my prices so thank you💕
That's awesome good for you!
Got it, thank you for sharing, and congrats on your new journey!
So true, thanks😙 i did also increase my price and no one is complaining. Thanks to your advice👌
Awesome congrats!
Bit late with commenting on this, but i have a set pricing structure and it is as follows:
Removal i.e gel polish, filing off old product (both cost the same), IBX nail strengthening treatment, then for a manicure (no gel polish included, just clear), gel overlay with 1 gel polish colour, sculpted nails (price vary depending on length and shape, starting at $67), then 3 different set of infill prices depending how soon the client is coming back in and if there is any damage or lifting. I then charge a POA on any repairs, crystals, hand painted nail art.
Love it, thanks for sharing!
Happy you are enjoying it
I just love you guys! It so important to have this knowledge, as a nail tech. I did exactly what you said charge 5-10$ more and my clients do pay and they are not being weird about this.
60$ CAD for full set
40$ CAD for fill and
Extra 5-20$ for (nail art) no matter what
But the thing is that, yes i do make money BUT im a BAAAAAAD money manager, like i spend the money that I've earned on other things and not investing it in my business.
Lol! yep that is always the struggle! "treat yourself" right? haha Thank you for sharing.
Another great vlog with lots of nuggets!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Such in important topic. Money is just one of those things that can make people uncomfortable to talk about.
Totally!
Under paid for sure!! Hopefully we can come back for a class that you can attend
Totally! That's great!
Sounds like you've got it dialed in! Nicely done.
Thank you guys! I have learned so much today. Thanks again guys!!!
❤️❤️
Luv the knowledge and advice in these videos- so excited to use your products!
Thanks for the support!

Love the way you put it! And congrats to you on your success !
Wow I feel grateful for your advices although in Mexico the prices are pretty cheaper than 60 dls 😂 I am just starting my business and yeaaah I feel the fear of losting clients if I say the price but I need no break that fear wall Thank you guys 🙏
A small increase won't hurt them but it will definitely benefit you.
My clients are only used to $1 increase every couple years lol. and i freak telling them that lol.
i would love for you guys to go over how much you should be charging for swarovski crystals! i feel like blinged out nails have hugely surged in popularity, and theres so many ways people charge for them
for sure
How much should you charge if you’re a beginner ? love ❤️ young nails
If your work is quality you shouldn't undersell yourself even if just starting out
Thank you for your input on these topics, so helpful! I really want to get to Anaheim to take your course on Acrylic/Gel overlays, but I don’t have the income yet, but one day....
New classes every month! Would love to have you
Such great advice. I have always used the structure. I am also a hairstylist and makeup artist so I have base prices and add on prices for all of the styling I do. I also recommend looks or create looks that I may have as a special for a time. I'm in NYC so I make sure that all my prices are commensurate to the market :-)
Perfect!
Absolutely
i have that problem, 😭
so little by little im sticking to my prices and some clients are more than fine with my prices and about 2 persons havent come back... i feel so good charging accordinly and even if they dont leave me a tip, its ok because im still getting what im supposed to...
Exactly right! Never good to expect a tip because then you are disappointed when it doesn't happen.
Always updating :)It's fun to have pretty nails and my clients personalities come out in that freedom:) My system is you want more u pay more but even if u are basic pricing u do not have boring nails...well unless u want them 😆
This is perfect! Love this!
Man I luv y'all so much! I'm saying up my coins to come there to get training.
yes!! can't wait to have you
I attended the OWC earlier this year. Best decision I have made!!! You will love it!
I absolutely love watching your videos. I am currently a student and I feel like these videos have taught me more than school has lol. Anyways, my question is would you charge extra per colored acrylic?
Yep. Charging for all additional items, even if you are only charging a couple dollars. It will add up for you, and as long as you explain to your client along the way so the decision is theirs to make if they want the additional items at cost.
plz can we have tracys formula on what to price things x
We'll look into getting this episode written out
It's always said that you don't want clients picking one over the other due to pricing. It's done based on the clients needs How do you know the difference in what a client needs other than allergies? Is it just based on what type of design they want or is there like a specific reason you choose who gets what?
As usual you right 👍👍
Great advice! Always love your content! I am currently working on price restructuring, so this comes at a great time. Do you feel there is a best time of year to change pricing?
Post summertime, before holiday season.
how many ml (millilitres) monomer is taken out in dappen dish every time? on an average. thanks
I have a question
In the Netherlands people are quite cheap aka 60 euros for nails is a go no for most clients. I got my certificate in August and opened my salon in October. I ask 25 euros for a new set polygel including nail art (just gelpolish art so no 3D stuff)
For a refill I ask 20 euros
For babyboom I charge 5 euros extras on both services
Next year I will keep the same price except for longer nails since its more products I'm using.
What's a decent price for a beginner?
Hi Tracey
You charge how much for gel polish set on natural nails ( mani.q or go time or slickpour) ?
Usually about $35-$45
Hi guys I'm from South Africa and still learning so I'm slow take 3 hours on set of nails.
This is my favorite!! 🙌🏻♥️
So good
Q: What questions or criteria do you use when determining whether to use gel or acrylic on a client.
Thank you!
This sounds just perfect! Nicely done.
Thank You!! @@youngnailsinc
Do you include nail polish or gel polish in fullest or fill? what about length?
One color is included in the cost
I would like to see more done to help mobile techs as a duo to the salon setting
good feedback thank you
The client will pay it if they want your work ! They know the salon across the street won't be able to achieve that look they want . So they won't care tbh 🖤
True that
I had the question of posting your pricing menu on your instagram? Not only to notify in person but letting your customers and potential customers know. Let them know ahead of time. I love these talks as well it has definitely opened my eyes to more of what I will need to be successful.
Happy you are enjoying them!
YoungNailsInc Thanks so much!
Also , what if the client is in for a fill and wants to change some nails to a permanent design(enacapsulated)?is it still$5 per design on fill price?
encapsulated would start at $10 each and yes a clip off and redesign would be an additional charge
Hi guys grate video, I live in Dallas Texas I do dipping powder I use to work an a salon and now I’m going on my on, how much should I charge, salon charge $40 for a regular set
$40 a set sounds reasonable for dip.
I agree with what you guys are saying and having it simple seems so much better- I like the pizza example that says it all 😂😂. Tell me tho what would you charge say for a pink and white fill? Same as the full set?
If it is truly just a fill about $60 if it is a back fill or re-balance something closer to $80
YoungNailsInc thank you 😘
Nice video as always !
Sounds like you've got it pretty dialed in
thank you that would be awesome it would help me alot love watching your channel thank you so much
You're welcome!
Tips are so much easier than sculpture.! I feel like sculpture should be more.
True
Awful.
Haha totally know what you mean there
Omg you guys come to Reno!!!!?!
We have before, we love Reno!! Actually we vlogged it once: ruclips.net/video/41RiJ038-Yg/видео.html
Love the $5 per glitter.
would you do the same for say stamping $5 per stamp?
Probably like $3 - $5 per stamp
@@youngnailsinc Thanks after 14 years in Nails I am starting up again after a 4 year break and I will charge for art. glitter was always free. I don't know why.
Damn, I remember back in the day when a full set was $20! 😱😁 It's gotten so expensive, so glad I'm just doing it myself.
For sure
Does length change the price ???
Extra long length yes.
@@youngnailsinc Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Do you charge a fee to file down to the base layer?
do you have a graphed of prices for all of the things you are tell us
not yet haha
Well what about us just beginning? I’m confident but I’m still new and learning and my work may not look as great as someone who’s been in the game for some years. How can I set my prices but not be way over my head with beginner skills? I want to build clientele without running them away with my prices.
The information would still be the same, always wanting to charge for art and additional items. Your base prices would just start out a little lower, then once you realize you are getting fairly consistently booked, increase your base price by about $5. When you're starting out offer deals like free art on your first set or something, that ways you get a client and they know that was a 1 time price. etc
Ok. Thank you! 😊
What I don't get with the glitters is, if you use only one glitter you use the same total amount of glitter as if you used 3, the glitter is just more dimensional but it's not more. Maybe I am overthinking, but maybe making the price proportional would make more sense.
Great video
Thank you
I wish this could be implemented in the UK, but people just won’t pay it! They see something on insta & they think £30 & won’t come back if you charge more because they can go to places that do have £25 flat rate!
I tried it & lost almost all my clients x
That’s really too bad, we aren’t as familiar with pricing there. I’m sure @youngnailsUK could get you some solid info on this subject
How much would you charge for stones? Would it still be $5 on any amouny of finger?
Generally speaking around $3-$5 per or like $20 for full nail
@@youngnailsinc thank you for your input!
Truth!
I forgot to mention…tracie i ❤️ your hair like that!
Thank you!
Great video once again! :)
Thanks
I love the pizza analogy and use it often!
So good!
Will add it to our suggestions for sure
Look if Tracey was my nail tech I wouldn’t care if she ambushed me with a new pricing structure at my appointment I’d pay it just because it’s her and her work is well worth it
LOL
Thank you thank you thank you 💗💗
Welcome welcome!
How do you figure out how much you’re making per hour as a booth renter?
Factor in all your costs as in rent, cost of product per service etc, then subtract that from what you charge
YoungNailsInc would you be able to give me an example? I don’t understand at all :(
how much do you charge a modle
A model you use to practice? It varies depending on your schedule. Sometimes it can even be cost of product.
@@youngnailsinc thank you xx
Tha k u so much for this info needed this
Welcome!
So would a glitter set consisting of 3 glitters be $105.00!?
Full set ....$90+$15 so yep.
If you are getting a fill with 3 glitters it would only be
$60+$15=$75 with Tracy’s pricing
Which is a good deal for both the client and the Tech 🤗
That's so great and very kind of you. Best of luck to you!

I’m struggling with this so much 😭
I was going to go to that Reno class but I couldn’t afford it at the moment ☹️
Anyways. I just started at a salon. Ive been charging $45 for ANY SET plain set, rhinestones, nail art. And same with fills.
Reason why I’m scared to charge extra is that I love applying rhinestones and if I charge for them they’re no longer going to want them 😓
Im so bad at charging sometimes I’ll be like ehhh $40 is okay after just soaking off nails and applying art 🤦🏽♀️
Gosh help me lol
I get told my prices are cheap for the stuff that I do.
Love this advice. Such a great solution a win win for both.
Amanda Carter-Jeffries that’s not a bad idea!
How would you display your bundles? And would you just write down the price right next to them?
@@Adii29pink7 I put them in small baggies or clear mixing jars with a price sticker on them. I liked the clear jars best because they're easier to display and stack in a pretty pyramid with price on the bottom.
Amanda Carter-Jeffries love that idea! Thank you so muchhh!!!!
