Not a single other 80's/early 90's singer was able to maintain and keep his voice the way Jani did... sounds like '89. Unreal. So sad that he left us. A huge loss. Rock In Peace, Jani.
People in posts try to convince me Robert Mason does the Jani era vocals justice . No disrespect to Robert but just no he doesn't. Jani had a unique voice never heard a sound alike singer like with other singers sound close to Jani . Robert was great with Lynch Mob . And to me Warrant ended with Jani's death period . They were all damn good musicians and should have changed name but guess no one would show up ! Anyway the people try to convince me and I listened and just doesn't sound right. If they are making a living and keeping Jani's lyrics alive then hes not really gone . God Bless RIP Jani Lane !!
I agree. Mason was/is GREAT in Lynch Mob. Tangled In The Web for example, his vocals on that song are amazing. Very talented singer. But he really is NO fit for Warrant. They just sound like a very good cover band now. When it comes to Jani, again, I agree. There's NO sound alike singer out there. Not even one. Jani was Jani. One of THE most unique and recognisable voices in rock history. You can hear him one or two words and know "yup, that's Jani". There will never be a second voice like Jani's. He was really blessed with that voice. Such a great tone and texture. Warm and full, yet raw and extremely powerful. And a huge range. And Warrant... well, they'll never sound like Warrant again, without Jani. They sure sound GREAT, but they don't sound like Warrant no more. They should've changed the name, for real. Oh well, I get that they just wanna make a living. It's the music BUSINESS after all... RIP Jani. Never forgotten.
