Panic attacks are so underestimated. I'm only 17 and was diagnoses with panic disorder and anxiety 2 years ago. No one, not my friends or family, really understand the physical and emotional pain I go through during and after every attack. They are emotionally EXHAUSTING! If you know someone with panic disorder, please - for me - help them. be there for them. because no one is there for me. and it hurts.

I know how you feel. Im only 15 and i was diagnosed with panic attacks at the hospital i went to when i had my first panic attack. It honestly is emotionally and physically draining. It feels like the whole room is collapsing in when i have a panic attack. And i feel like the people around me would be laughing at me and making fun of me. So i tell them not to help me when i have an attack unless i ask for help. Do you do that? or is it just me? i had a panic attack 3 hours ago. its really horrible living with panic attacks and anxiety disorder. :(

we create and train our brains to do this ive had panic attacks since the age of 4 yes 4 im 29 now and i can tell you this is true panic attacks are caused by deep worrying or almost obsessivly re living something upsetting and thinking about it in the back of your mind sometimes subconsiously...... Half the time we have no idea what the heck is even bugging us so bad during an attack it dosn't matter really, but it all comes from the mind..... The brain fills its *worry cup* little by little every time you harp on something that upsets you or think about a stressful situation over and over again even if we don't mean to and then what happens is the brain eventually triggers a panic attack because it thinks its defending you from a serious situation with a fight or flight response.
I want all of you who are suffering right now to do this when your having an episode and I KNOW how hard this is trust me but i promise you keep at it IT WILL STOP IT ok tell yourself this is just a panic attack i know what this is and what it does.... And i don't have to be afraid even though it feels gross and horrid IM OK! sit down wherever you are and just start square breathing inhale in for 4 seconds force yourself to hold it for 4 seconds exhale for 4 seconds and keep doing it no matter how hard it is you need to take control and say HEY body your freaking out lets stop this and calm down believe it or not i know it may seem so hard to believe but YOU are in control and your body is just respondidng to stress your ok! you ARE OK and you have the power to stop this YES YOU DO its scientifically prooven! keep trying to square breathe as best you can! and don't be embarassed! your ok! and it will slow down and stop takes a while but you are training yourself to take back control and halt it in its tracks you can do this im living proof =D

I'd rather get punched once a day than have just one panic attack a year. They can be that bad. One incident was right after watching the graphic violence in the last Rambo movie, and I had one WHILE I WAS SLEEPING that night. When i awoke in terror, I lost all my color and strength; it was so terrible that my family thought I was dying. I've only had three or four since, and they only last a few seconds, but they are just horrible. My sympathies to everyone who battles this dreaded beast.

This is exactly how my first attack happened, I was at the mall and out of no where I just felt really dizzy, lightheaded tunnel vision, like I was in danger, and I had to escape, so I calmly walked out the mall, than a few days later it happens at work, now I can't even leave my own room without feeling anxious, I only wished I didn't leave the mall that day, maybe if I stayed I'd grounded my brain wouldn't made me think I was in danger.

paula19762007 I've had panic attacks for ten years now. although there horrible there a good sign it's a sign of fear your body telling you something is wrong and fear is good. But it's how you control that fear is what's needed. like when a balloon pops you jump that's fear that's a panic attack but because you know it's only a balloon popping you don't get a panic attack for 10-20 minutes. So when when you go shop or do stuff that we don't know it lasts longer and that's what us people need to overcome. Normally a panic attack stops if you can refocus your brain or you run away. And I know they say fight it and trust me I try as that way it tells your brain that this isn't to be feared. Try it next time as you haven't fallen over you haven't been rushed into hospital etc so you know it's only a panic so next time just stand there and take the panic talk to it tell it it can't hurt you. Take the buzz that's what I call it as I feel like I'm buzzing of my nut lol use the buzz the panic to feel good say omg this is amazing come in is that all you got etc etc roll with the buzz as much as it's horrible just roll with it just do it once to see do it at home so you feel ok rather than in a shop etc. then your see just how much it didn't hurt you how much less stress you feel. it's all in the mind. easy said than done but when I'm in shop I stand there now instead of fearing it and running because next time I go shop I'll know that that made me scared so don't do it but I don't want to be scared so you keep doing it. It's easy when you actually think about it it's just that we run away because we want it to stop I get that but we should so we tell the panics that I'm in control and your going away as I'm not scared no more. try it and let me know. :)

I remember my first panic attack vividly. I was riding in my friend's car. First I felt the pins and needles in my fingers and lips. Then I noticed my heart beating hard and fast. I started to feel light headed so I started forcing myself to take deep deliberate breaths, I thought it would calm me. However, the tingling and light headedness increased. I panicked, I thought, "I'm dying. I can't breathe or think. This is how it ends."
I urged my friend to pull over. He did. I got out and lay down in the grass on the side of the road. I don't know why I did that. With the symptoms increasing, my 1 thought was, " I don't want to die on the side of the road. If this is it, I want to die at home."
Stumbling, I got up and asked him to get me home take me home as quick as he could.
10 minutes later, with the symptoms still going strong, I was home. I literally jumped out of the car and ran into the house. I shouted to my mom that I thought I was having a heart attack and to call the paramedics. I collapsed to the floor. I asked for water. I took a drink and actually felt an improvement. With the phone in her hand, I quickly told her to not dial 911, that I felt a little better. I got up and went to the sink. Ran my head under the tap for several minutes, splashed cold water on my face. I then went back to the living room and sat down. As I felt it starting to pass, I broke out in a cold sweat and was shivering. After wrapping myself in a blanket and drinking more water I slowly began to feel normal again, but I couldn't stop shaking for quite a while. Shortly thereafter I fell asleep, as I just felt exhausted and drained.
I thought I was dying, I mean seriously about to die. I have never been so frightened in my life. The 'gun to your head' analogy is a perfect comparison, I thought I had only moments left to live.

My dad, helped me through an attak by taking me to the gym to work off the energy, eventually I got worked up again, but that moment of calm was worth it. If you find yourself in a state of utter worry and fear distracts you from doing a simple task go outside, get fresh air, preferably somewhere quiet, go for a walk/jog, seek comfort from a pet, hold ice cubes in your hand and recite a song even a christmas carol till they've melted.

I wish this could show truly the sheer horror you go through when experiencing a panic attack! Walking around? Really I have to sit down. I get this horrible aching feeling in my chest then my heart goes really funny. Sometimes it can go really fast but sometimes it starts off me feeling like it's going too slow which causes me to freak out which then makes it go fast from panicking. I feel sick & dizzy like I'm going to faint. My hands & feet get pins & needles in them & then clench up. My head goes all fuzzy. I start shaking all over like I'm really cold. I try controlling my really fast breathing with some techniques I have learnt but you never feel like you're getting enough air, you just want to take in as much oxygen as possible which could then cause you to pass out (too much oxygen in your body). You feel like you're having a heart attack, that it's either going to pop. You calm yourself down too much, you feel that your heart will stop. You think you're going to die! After my first one I couldn't stop thinking about it like it said at the end of this video. I have panic disorder now. It's taken over my life!! I have to take beta blockers & am going through CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). I can't sleep at night & even if I want to I'm too scared. It's a really terrifying thing to experience.

I've been having panic attacks for years. I was alright when I realized it was a panic attack. But lately I've been having panic attacks almost everyday. I can feel something uncomfortable in my chest. I can't stop thinking about it and last time I had a panic attack, I had a numb (shock) and all of my body parts can't move. I can barely grip my hands. The doctor told me I'm just fine and needs to do some workout and get rid of my stress. I can't even workout because I would get panic attack if my heart is beating fast. Now I can barely sleep at night, I can barely breathe sometimes and my chest keeps feeling uncomfortable every freaking day. This is just making me more stressful and there's not way to get rid of this. I'm just 21 years old and this is really difficult for me to deal with.

I am 20 and have the same symptoms as you. They have put me on depression medication but that isn't even my concern. It is my anxiety that is holding me back. I always feel like I am going to have my heart beat out of my chest when l lay down to sleep. My anxiety gets so bad, everytime I feel some strange pain or weird sensation in my brain I freak myself out and tell my self its a brain tumor or signs of an early stroke or internal bleeding, etc. It is ridiculous. It is wearing out my mind. I'm too young for this.. But it does help me feel somewhat better knowing people have the same experiences knowing that it is only a panic attack. Anyone have any advice or tips? Or even just a simple chat!

It's crazy how much goes through your mind during a panic attack. I had one 2 weeks ago in a supermarket and felt really dizzy. My brain played out this scenario where I would pass out, bang my head on the floor and die. I was so scared I could barely move.

+Mr. Cat Honestly...I'm so very happy to hear that. Last night, I felt totally fine...and got up to go to bed. I've dealt with anxiety and depression all my life...but have _never_ had a legit "panic attack." But last night...out of nowhere, I felt like I was going to pass out, extreme shortness of breath, heart palpitations, felt hot and cold, started sweating....it freaked me the hell out. I honestly felt like I might die...so I called my dad just in case he had to dial 911 for me. As soon as he answered....I started just sobbing and couldn't get a word out for a good 5 minutes. For the past 24 hours I've self-diagnosed myself with A-fib, stroke, heart failure, etc etc.
I just can't believe a panic attack could be AS BAD as I felt. I truly thought I was going to die. But after talking to my dad, 10 minutes later....I felt fine. It was very weird and scary. It's comforting to know others also think they're having a heart attack. I sure hope it wasn't some heart problem....but still, I had _no idea_ panic attacks were _that_ bad. So scary...

It's the worst feeling to have a panic attack while your heart is racing and shaking thinking your dying or if your thinking your blacking out and not knowing what to do. The way I deal with it is by going outside and walk and count step by step (look down at your feet count how many steps you take) and i will talk to myself about what am going to do at work or something about my day or i will talk to my husband (which he knows what i go thru he is such a great support) a love one about anything to be distracted while having panic attack or anxiety attack (i know it's not easy but try it because it will least make you less think about what your going thru). Take deep breaths and i will tell myself this is a process and it will go away. Don't look on the internet about symptoms of dying IT IS NOT TRUE REMEMBER YOU ARE A HEALTHY PERSON! Don't look up on anything about it cause you are HEALTHY 🤠. I love you and u will get thru it and look I am still here going thru the panics attack but most importantly I am here and healthy and more strong. So are you! Am sorry 😞 what you are going thru but whoever you are u will be okay i promise remember Jesus loves you and so do I ❤️. Stay away from caffeine, coffee, energy drinks and unhealthy fast food is what normally cause the panic attacks or anxiety attack especially from depression. Take care of yourself don't over think it and don't blame yourself when someone says you are worthless when you are not because it's a blessing we are able to see the sun 🌞 in the morning and be a happy person towards negativity. I hope this help calm your anxiety or panic attack while u read this my beautiful friend. Take care of your self. John 3:16

    I actually have anxiety
Because I’m 14 and in my school I have a time out pass for when I get panic attacks daily so when I use it I go to this special place in my school called the hub and it’s a room with sofas books and staff that have had training with anxiety, depression ect
My last panic attack was yesterday and they were there for me they told me to take deep breaths they gave me some water and because I had a panic attack of going into one of my classes they got my work from my teacher and let me work in the hub
I love my school they help me so much

I always think I'm going to die. Dying is not my fear of panic attacks it's where i'm going to be. I pray everytime I get a panic attack. Never fails each time I think this is it, now this is a heart attack. I pray to GOD and ask for forgiveness and wait for me to die. I get them mostly at night time. Worst feeling is that I can't seem to believe that i'm going to see the light of another day. no matter how many times I get them I don't see panic attacks I see death right around the corner.

One thing that helps me when having a panic attack is breathing in a way that forces my heart rate to slow down. I breathe in for four seconds, hold it for four seconds, then breath out for four seconds. This causes my heart to slow down very quickly. I also had to quit drinking coffee and start drinking a lot of chamomile tea (which binds to the same receptors as Valium). A cool shower can reduce anxiety a lot also. Sadly, though all of this is helpful, it doesn't solve the problem completely and I also have to be medicated. Only medication has truly given me my life back. I hate feeling like I have to permanently be on medication to have a normal life, but it is what it is.

I started having panic attacks when I thought a cyst in my pituitary gland had burst and would kill me. Which sounds silly now lol. I was afraid to be anywhere on my own after that and it took me ages to leave the house. I still don't like to be without my phone but if I start to feel a panic coming on I can push it away and stop it from taking over. I feel so sorry for people who still suffer from panic attacks, it's a horrific experience :/

I've had severe anxiety for 6 years and have gone through rough patches of my life where I'll have one every day. Except, with my panic attacks, I cry and cry and cry until I can't anymore. It sucks, it really does. And id know better than most people. But it does get better, believe me. Panic attacks are scary. But once you recognize what they are, what's causing them, and ways to slow them down or stop them, it gets easier. And having someone who is aware and can help you when you need always helps. Don't be afraid to get help if your anxiety is becoming too much.

Maybe I was overthinking that I’m gonna get another one again. Maybe is because I DO have a lot on my head. Stress is another thing I’m going through and with this whole pandemic and everything going on around the world-it has me very panicky as well. I never have these attacks at home. If anything, I’m calm and feel safe. It’s only when I’m outdoors. 😔

Is there somebody in your family or friends that understand your sittuation? If there are people that understand you.. Just ask somebody that goes outside with you so that you don't feel alone and just stay talking to them and tell what you feel or draw the line if it's to much. Just don't draw your line to far. Just do it your way and your speed. And it will be fine eventually i promise you ❤️ and maybe finding help from a specialist is a good thing. Im here for you ❤️❤️

I get panic attack every single time I see, hear or smell vomit or feel nauseous myself. It is taking over my life and I don't know what I can do about it. I have thrown up only once in my life which was 6 or 7 years ago. If someone near me vomits I either get a panic attack and feel unable to breathe or move or I get an adrenaline rush and run like hell out of there, then I get the panic attack after that. It is so horrible and it makes me afraid of being in a relationship or having kids or everything with kids in general. I always find myself planning sort of an escape route or somethin if I am in a place with lots of people. I mean any of them can vomit and I am always prepared to bail out. I'm tired of constantly worrying and it is affecting my social life. What to do? D:

This has actually brought me to tears because it is so so accurate to how I've felt for the past two years. Breaking the cycle seems pretty much impossible. :(

I started seeing a therapist for the third time in my life this year. For years I wanted to go to the doctor because I thought I was having a heart attack or something. Then it would go away. When I left home for the military and had time to think, I realized that I was probably having panic attacks. My current job makes me feel that way sometimes.

As I'm thinking for myself omg this is a panic attack, and its all my brain. So I left school, had some fresh air and went home, started thinking about good things and appreciate life, and i lay down in my bed, and slept for a bit, when I woke up I went for a jog. helped alot!

i deal with it as best as i can when im at work i run to the bathroom and cry sob for a few min then talk to myself and suck it up wipe my tears and keep at it as best as i can.
i dont take medication i allow myself to feel and deal with it.
i can honestly say there was days where i couldnt get outta bed.
but i look back at my days of my deepest depression and think of how far ive come.
its a feeling i cant control nd wish i didnt have to deal with but my life is wonderful and i focus on the positive and to stay distracted.
im sorry for the ppl that cant shake these horrible feelings but there is always something better to come.

Long story short. I had my first panic attack on thursday. I thought i was having a heart attack or worse was going to die. I did feel like fainting/lightheadedness. Paramedics and Doctors all said i was fine. That night i couldn't get rest due to the fear of dying in my sleep or stop breathing. These past few days i've been really anxious from the minute i wake up to sleep. So i know how some of you feel. You are not alone. Don't let it control you. Embrace the fear! Thats how you beat it!

Me personally I meditate, I focus on my Chakras and try to keep moving, the idea of the video is actually what happens and although it's hard to control yourself during a panic attack thats the key, learning to because the reality is it becomes fear so keep moving eat well embrace it and one day you will be able to free yourself from it, it's a mental attack you are not in any danger!! There is HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!

It is amazing just how many people suffer from this debilitating issue. I use to have anxiety problems until I decided to seek professional advice. I found a great program which breaks the panic/anxiety cycle and stop the fear setting in.
