As an older veteran of the U.S. Navy I am so proud of the mostly young men and women on board these ships that are doing a fine job in the service of my country. Thank you Norway for welcoming them.
Many of my friends are from USA. They have adopted the "have a party before x-mas with the boys" Get a good meal and some drinks and have fun.. 10-15 every year. It is a mix of USA and Europe.. Think we had a french dude as well once.. Just a nice evening out. And from what was on the news. Some people serving on that boat already had friends in Oslo .. and had.. a good time
Thank you very much for visiting with this great ship. Many were afraid when all of these sailors were going ashore in Oslo, but they all behaved in an exemplary manner and were great ambassadors for the United States.
To our Norwegian allies and people of such a beautiful country. Thank you for being so welcoming and friendly to our military personnel. Its means so much.

Fun fact the Titanic could sit on the deck of the aircraft carrier and they could still put jets up along it and it wouldn’t even cover the entire length
Yes the arsenal of freedom indeed. We the US can project massive amounts of force anywhere in the world because of this and so much airlift capability. Can everyone remember the gulf war and other engagements? 🇺🇸
Fun fact.. all the stores took dollars as payment when it visited.. Especially the pubs :) I was out and bought a few for them. And they normally dont even take Euros. @@bdanielcal4608 The joke is America invading Norway for it's oil. The US wouldn't do that to one of it's allies, but has been known to do so in the middle east.
Back around 1972 or so, we escorted the Enterprise to Pearl Harbor. You don't really appreciate how large carriers are at sea until you dock next to one. Don't know what their crew complement was, around 5,000 or so I think. It took forever for their crew to walk the gang plank to enjoy liberty - a steady stream of hormone-driven young guys looking to spend some money at the local bars.
Tusen takk. Den er ikke redigert, så litt hakking er det jo og en hund som står og hyler, men alt som skal til Oslo kommer svært nær land her på Fagerstrand.
Name one of these ships at last after E. B. Ely! The first man ever to start on a plane from the deck of a warship deserves the honour of his name adorning the stern of a carrier!! ♍👍
I understand your sentiment. However, in recent history the US catrier fleet is typically named after former presidents. In fact, all but one, are named after politicians with the only exception being the Enterprise. That said, there is a planned Ford class carrier that is to be named after Doris Miller, who went full send baddass during Pearl Harbor.
Absolutely not. Currently the US is the only country with the manpower, technology, and materials to build such a behemoth. That shit cost $13B right there!! And we got 10 more 😂
@@Jumpman6352 an ally of the USA, you know the Vietnamese very little. If they were to go to war today against Vietnam, even with recent weapons, they would lose again.
The US Navy has the second highest aircraft count in the world. The first is the US Air Force. Not to mention they’re always accompanied by destroyers and other battleships along with 2-3 nuclear powered submarines. All equipped with the best technology in the world. You ain’t shooting shit. They’ll intercept whatever and you won’t get a second chance to fire again.
