    I was in the Canadian Reserve Army in the 1970s and felt very comfortable with this rifle. I fired many rounds and never had a jam, but I can't say the same for the Browning Hi-Power. We would fire on targets up to 600 yards and generally got good hits.
    Carrying it in the bush with extra rounds and packs was a lot of work, especially during 10-mile runs. We used to say we could shoot through brick walls with the 7.62mm.
    Cleaning and disassembly were straightforward, with left to right and right to left to reassemble.

    FALs are also one of my favorite rifles. On the PARA you are using in the video, it looks like the gas regulator is fully forward, up against the gas block/front sight. That setting is the HIGHEST pressure setting and sends the maximum amount of gas to the piston. The action tries to open too soon before the brass can fully shrink back. Many people misinterpret this as TOO LITTLE gas and it's exactly the opposite. It will create jams just as you were having. In all likelihood the gas bleed is completely covered by the regulator which it should not be. Take a look at the manual and it will describe the entire procedure for setting the regulator. Great video.

      Alright so the principal is the same then between AR10’s and FALs. I had issues with my AR10 due to the overpressure and the rifle being over gassed. Now that I look at it and how the rounds were just barely spitting out, that bolt was moving back way too fast! Thanks for commenting!

      @@SabertoothDefenseSystems The principle is the same as in they're both gas operated, if you look down from the top at the gas adjustment you can see the hole where the gas bleeds off and understand what it's doing when you adjust it. More of the hole visible = more gas bleeding off, no hole visible = no bleed off

    Excellent review. Had a few during my service as a conscript with the SADF in the 1970s-80s, as long as it's well maintained and kept clean it will get the job done.Thanks.

    I bought a DSA FAL Cold Warrior about 8 years ago and upgraded the rear sight to a standard type and the pistol grip. She shoots about a 4 inch groups at 100 yards and I have never had any issues with the rifle. I have hit out to 600 yards with the iron sights with no problem. Once you know how to set your gas system the rifle just runs and runs. Easy to break down and clean. DSA also was very good for extra magazines as well for the parts I upgraded with and I think they do a great job keeping this rifle around for folks to enjoy.

      Great points indeed. I also think they do a good job keeping the platform alive and well!

    I have a heavy barrel,a standard barrel and would really like to get a para …I’d rather carry a standard barrel FAL over my AR 15 or AK 74 …the right Arm of the free world….great video!!

    Fal's are great guns! I have the younger litle sister, the Imbel IA-2, also in 7.62. Pretty
    much a FAL... same magazines, controls very similar, and so on. And believe it or not, despite the 10 inches barrel, recoil is just like the big FAL.

    2:56 - 3:15 Yes, it is sad, but unfortunately, for whatever reason there are a lot of people who will jump down someone's throat if they make a mistake about something with guns like this (especially if it is about something relatively unimportant, like some obscure "factoid" that only a history nerd would care about).
    Good concise review. I don't think these rifles will ever get as popular again as they once were, but hopefully they will stick around for a while yet to come.

    Great vid. I purchase a DSA ParaFAL two months ago directly from DSA. It took five weeks to get it and went I got the rifle it did not eject the emty casing and it came with the wrong features. I sent it back to DSA and they had two replase a couple of parts to get it to work propertly not mention that it took them four weeks to shipped it back to me, it was scratch up in a few parts on the lower and up receiver. DSA does a terrible job with the QC of their products and with the repair process. I do not recomend DSA.

  • @maceelliott3150
    @maceelliott3150 3 месяца назад

    There’s definitely a break in period with this rifle.
    At around 500 rds you can polish the contact points in the receiver, and switch out the trigger reset spring with a lighter spring.
    May also have to swap the bolt hold open pin with another that has proper length & angle, depending on if you have any issues with rounds popping out of the mag and into the receiver upon reloading w/ the bolt back.
    Another 500-1000 rounds after that, and a couple gas adjustments, it’s a reliable beast with a 4lb trigger pull.
    DSA’s “trigger job” is hit or miss, but you can have them do that as well before they even ship the rifle to you.

    Can you possibly make a video showing how to "take down" (field strip) this FAL. It appears close to the DS Arms SA58 Improved Battle Carbine 16" which I just purchased but, didn't come with a manual. I can find zero videos that demonstrates field stripping. It's truly a different animal that older FAL's.

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately I’m trying to stay away from breakdowns as this platform will most likely flag a new video if there’s any assembly or disassembly. Their rules are ever changing. That being said, Forgotten Weapons has an older video on the Para FAL and he shows a breakdown of the rifle that would probably be helpful to you!

    Its F.A.L. A 3 letter acronym like C.I.A and F.B.I. etc. etc. etc.

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  9 месяцев назад

      I’m sure it is. It’s referred to as both FAL and F.A.L. In Brazil they said it as if it was a word not an acronym. Either way, the rifle rocks.

    How was field stripping it and cleaning it? Mine had issues going back together, and had to take it to a gunsmith to figure it out, because DSA gave a poor manual for the para FAL.

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems

      It took a little bit to figure it out just because I was new to field stripping the FAL type rifles, but after a bit of practice it wasn’t so bad. Just a very different platform. Cleaning is a piece of cake though

    En Argentina sean echo varias actualizaciones del Fal pero el Fal Carabina el cual seria, sino me equivoco, el modelo SA58 OSW, debido a su acortamiento de longitud de caño y en cal.7,62, para controlar su retroceso se le adherido un freno de caño, ahora bien, según comentarios de personal militar esta version en uso urbano, despejando edificaciones, es imposible aguantar o soportar el ruido o estruendo que hace su freno de boca, dicen que los disparos dentro de edificaciones es insoportable poder utilizarlo... esta version es algo que yo no lo comparto, porque desde ya un calibre 7,62 en zona urbana no es optimo no justifica su uso, pocas municiones, calibre que en fuego automatico no se lo puede controlar, el freno de boca por un lado ayuda y por el otro hace que el uso sea insoportable, para mi no reune condiciones favorables para ello. Saludos
