Great video! My Cat is on engine number two so many more miles of fun to come. I have had an issue where it revs freely, idles nice etc... However when you roll on from around 3K it stutters and spits a bit of black smoke until about 4/4.5K where it picks up and revs cleanly all the way to redline. Carbs have been rebuilt all mixtures are set as the manual states. Fuel level is as close to manufacturers specs as I can get them. I'm at abit of a loss now. Wondering whether you've ever run into something like this before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Have you ridden it since this video? And thank you for the detailed series, I just bought a used 98 yzf needing a carb clean, haven't ridden mine yet to see if 2nd holds. ended up watching this to see what worst case scenario looks like to emotionally prepare lol

How do you identify for the second gear issues for me right now Is that as soon as I hit power band on the bike it wants to kick the neutral from second gear then occasionally it'll just clunk and hit neutral from 3rd and 4th could this be a cause of too much oil?

No that isn’t because of to much oil. That sounds like a transmission issue. Won’t know exactly what is wrong until you tear it down
