Thanks Björn (and Pawel). I have been watching your videos since you started Björn and have been wanting to buy an EV for many years but I didn't really like the look of any until the I-Pace came a long. I went for an hour long test drive last week and was so happy with it (and got 210wh for that hour drive) I just placed an order. Possibly the first guy in Finland with an I-Pace come March. Thanks for all your videos over the years buddy.

@Jayceon Dean Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great work guys, great editing Bjørn a lot of hours of footage to sort out. But the more of these you do the more educating they are for the non-EV owner like myself. Bigger battery isn't always going to get there first!
To me it is about a "standard" journey where you don't have to charge so you can just drive and charge at home (on my solar panels in preference - the UK is joke with charging and the excess cost and stupid - money not accepted and 15 different cards/apps). The next thing is to charge during a lunch stop on a long journey, so you don't notice the problem of an hour stop. This video does show the importance of efficiency of the cars - and a efficient car can catch up over time as it goes further per kwh. For me then it is 300 miles as this solves the above for the journeys I do, but it comes down to personal lifestyle; in the UK the charging network is a joke due to the cost and multiple companies and lack of fast charging. So UK people have to work against the system.
This is a really fun video. Well done you guyz! Maybe I'm crazy but reminds me of the early days of gas-powered cars, all the crazy races, and rallies.
Audi E-tron vs. Renault Zoe pls! Will Zoe´s low consumption combined with 43 kW quick charger beat E-tron running on 50 kW CCS ? In 10°C and above for sure... lack of battery heating ruins Zoe´s performance in cold weather though...
I'll be using a Kia Soul EV temporarily for about 3 or 4 months from December (in the UK) - after that my Kona arrives, yay! Slightly annoyed to hear that the Soul doesn't have intermittent wiper setting. Is that really true? WTH! Christmas trips are going to be interesting... Anyway, thank you so much guys, for putting in the massive effort to do these videos, it's really appreciated. It's quite rare for a video this long to hold my attention throughout, but this one (and the other one with Kona vs. Tesla) managed it just fine.
I have a 30kwh Soul ev and I use it for daily commute into London. Like all ev my miles/kwg is very efficienct for city driving. A lot of us 30kwh Soul ev owner are getting are getting around 6 miles/kwh driving normally without using hypermiling techniques. Thanks for showing me how to use the Soul for Motorway/Highway journeys.
The Jag I-pace is generally less efficient (power in / movement out) but when racing at night the aerodynamics is way better on the I pace. Interesting competition.
Bigger battery not so big an advantage then. I love my 30kWh Leaf :)

Great race! I think a simple video to explain charging, range and the effect of vehicle choice to newbies would be very useful Bjorn. I get it, but explaining the concept to others is difficult!
Someone should make an app to optimize these longer trips based on the car, distance, possible charging speed, cost of charging, etc.. It would tell the driver how fast to drive and where/how much to charge the car to be the fastest.

Thanks Bjorn for letting me know that. I do not like a manufacturer telling me how to use my car. For instance when level 2 charging on my 2017 Bolt, i watch movies and video clips. GM has an update for the infotainment system that eliminates that feature. No one told me from Chevy. I found out about it through forums and YT. I have not updated it yet for that reason. I think the burning question is - what is the Tesla charging experience, right now, against the non-Tesla experience, in Europe?

Tesla's network is far superior right now. If you don't have a Tesla, you need to first figure out which networks you need to order RFID's to depending on which countries you're going to. There's no universal paying standard. Furthermore, most locations only have one charger. So you always have to keep in mind backup options. But of course, that largely depends on where in Europe.
One thing I'm curious about. When you use these chargers do you pay so much per Kwh or is it a flat rate for each use irregardless of how much energy is used? Also how does the cost compare per km to a petrol or diesel car getting 50 mpg?

I filled up my car today. It took 85 seconds. That means I get about 7 to 8 km range for each second of refueling. How many km range per second charging do you get with a Tesla Model S100D? Of course, if you don't travel more than the range of your EV each day and have the opportunity to recharge during night where you park than it is no problem. But if that is not the case an EV is not a good choice.

Really interested to know how much you pay for standard 50 kW charging in Norway at say Fortnum. Is is a subscription scheme or Pay per kWh. Rapid charging in the UK is 25p to 35p per kWh but some companies charge £1 connection fees which make it prohibitive. Then Polar has a membership scheme of about £100 per year and the rapid cost becomes 10.2p per kWh or free at some locations.
You should have tricked him and swapped your KIA Soul for a gas powered one in the same color. Why do you have your headlights on wile you're charging?
Come on, guys... this is a pretty stupid comparison...then again, pretty amazing the lovely Soul was neck and neck! When they come OUT with the new bigger battery, iPace is gonna look really bad! 3 Souls for the price of 1 iPace? Wow!
Depends if you are buying a battery or a car. I drive a very efficient car but I know people who drive cars with 4 or 5 times as much consumption. It is not just the economy that counts. I prefer the iPace.

Kia Soul is for sure the coolest and one of the most efficience car on the EV-market! What a shame for Jaguar when you have a 3times bigger Akku and can not go faster
Because kia not use comfy not more gadgets 😁
Really interested to know how much you pay for standard 50 kW charging in Norway at say Fortnum. Is is a subscription scheme or Pay per kWh.
Rapid charging in the UK is 25p to 35p per kWh but some companies charge £1 connection fees which make it prohibitive. Then Polar has a membership scheme of about £100 per year and the rapid cost becomes 10.2p per kWh or free at some locations.
I can haz croissant instead of popcorn ? Pweez ?
France stronk ! Shiiiieeeeeet, panzer ! Ruuuuun !
You should have tricked him and swapped your KIA Soul for a gas powered one in the same color. Why do you have your headlights on wile you're charging?
Soul 2019 model is going to load 40kwh and 64kwh battery.
If the race gets longer, the Kia will win.
what was the race distance here?
E-tron v Model X. Pretender against the King
recap at 1:09:50
Come on, guys... this is a pretty stupid comparison...then again, pretty amazing the lovely Soul was neck and neck!
What's the next race? Can you do a Model 3 against something soon?
+thomasj2187 Model 3 is not out in Europe yet.
you should do one with tesla model 3 vs the Chevrolet bolt! you will really show all the fud out there what a tesla killer the bolt really is! not!...lol
Saw the Kia recently. The interior was horribly plasticy..
