I respect your opinions but I can not buy into your claims. I have this exact crossbow and I shoot the quill with a 100 grain Swacker. I have got a complete pass through with that set up every deer I have killed. In fact with the same arrow set up I killed a black bear at 24 yards with a complete pass through and it was down in 35 yards. Again, I respect your opinion but you’re missing out on shooting a great crossbow.
Yee Haw, I always like seeing different perspectives on an item even though I don’t agree with much of what you said. The Excalibur Banshee, 308 Short, Grizzly and Griz2 all shoot about the same speed and they are fantastic deer hunting crossbows within ethical hunting distances. With the recommend 350 grain it’s a complete pass through every time as long as your shot placement is good. With 400 or more grain set ups it’s just as good and possibly a little better. BY the way, the 308 Short and Banshee are probably the two most sought after Excaliburs and there is a reason for that.
Excal Ibex (175 lb pull without a cocker) with 265 grain 20 inch firebolts and 150 grain head gets 290 fps with a 415 grain total projectile. Pass-throughs on all quartering towards shoulder shots on big northern deer. Original Excaliburs are key. Groups these bolts 5 shots into a clementine at 50 yds.
Man I sure am glad I bought this 308 Short from you. Major tack driver like you showed in your other video on it. And what I've done is replace all the Quill front aluminum inserts with 110gr brass inserts. So now with my 100gr Innerloc Carnage broadheads I'm shooting 425gr total weight still plenty fast and punching bullseyes every shot. Really looking forward to getting full pass throughs on deer with it this fall! Yeehaw don't let this one experience put you permanently off of Excalibur. You can buy an Axe/Mag 340 from Wyvern Creations, get their heavier arrow upgrade, and you'll still be shooting faster than your 308 did with the light arrows. And you'll pay less than you did originally for the 308 Short. Tons of guys like Andy Hite have proven the 308 Short is DEFINITELY good for deer. And never believe when a manufacturer says you have to use their arrows. There are so many heavier with better FOC options out there. Or replace inserts like I did with your old arrows.
Hey there bubba. I'm glad your enjoying it. Yeah I had called Excalibur n they said they didn't sell inscerts for it so that's why I felt stuck with it. But if they come out with a compact one and one that doesn't shoot anything shorter then a 20inch bolt and it weights 300gr then I may consider another one but want shoot n e thing with what short bolts n e more.. I'm happy your enjoying it bubba..
@@yeehaw2720 Excalibur is never going to go away from the 16.5" arrows. That's what all their new for 2020 models shoot. I definitely wouldn't let that stop you from considering them though. 3.5" of shaft only contributes to about 25 grains. And just cause Excalibur doesn't sell heavier inserts doesn't mean you don't have easy ways to get 16.5" arrows that are even heavier than most 20" arrows. There are tons of affordable options. Wyvern Creations, Borkholder Archery, South Shore Archery, heck even your local archery shop can build you 16.5" arrows that'll weigh well over 400 grains with a 100 grain broadhead. Or do like I did and buy heavy inserts on Amazon. The 16.5" arrows that Excalibur micro's shoot are literally a non-issue. Actually if you have 2 arrows the same total weight, one being 16.5" and the other being 22", the 16.5" is actually more likely to get a clean pass through because it has less shaft length to drag through the animal and the same amount of kinetic energy. A 16.5" arrow also has less flex for the same shaft diameters.

We had hogs move in on our property and the coyotes have gotten pretty bad in our area too. So with both of those we think that’s pushed our deer out. We killed 25 deer of our land last season and this year we have only killed 10. Good luck with the fishing and if you make it to the woods this last few days of deer season good luck. Hey there the jackal I'll be honest. That now never gave me a problem don't look at the price when going to get one bc someone sees a 200 crossbow n there like I ain't getting that cheap thing.. that thing was all someone could want. Limbs as alittle wide and I didn't care for the red dot scope.. center point I didn't like the scope.. that scope was junk. And the stock just make sure you put tape around the end where your comfortable with it. It's adjustable and sometimes clicks into place so besides that there both crossbows I'd shoot. My brother just bought one and he's well happy with it..
Yee Haw27 awesome glad to hear that and thanks for your opinion and what kind of bolts and broadheads do you use with the jackel I’m thinking about using the pile driver bolts and the swacker broadheads like you Chanel please keep it up and thanks for your response
@@theamputeehunter2074 we used the head hunter bolts that it came with with the jackal. With the sniper 370 we used the pile drivers.. so on both we used the what they recommended n came with.. jackal we used 2inch rage and the sniper 370 we used the swacker... Both 100 gr Broadheads
Yee Haw27 okay sounds good thanks again
Yee Haw27 okay sounds good thanks
Have you ever tried a camx 330
Did you get rid of banshee?
Yes sir
@@yeehaw2720 what you shooting now?
@@stevenhicks815 back to Barnett.. I don't believe I'll buy any other bows I believe I'll just stick with Barnett's
@@yeehaw2720 I got a excalibur mag 340 I bought last year love it, then got a grizzly for 75.00 couldn’t pass up that deal then got a bulldog 400 a month ago couldn’t pass that up. Love the Excalibur
@@stevenhicks815 well that's dang good.. I would shoot Excalibur but there arrows (bolts) are to lite. I shoot a 100gr broad head so my bolts have to be atlease 300grs And Excalibur only makes 200gr bolts. From my pass experience I have shot the lite bolts with 100gr broadhead and couldn't even get a pass Thur even at 20 yards. If I could get a set up with Excalibur with a stock 300 gr blot then I would but with that 308 banshee I couldn't get a pass Thur using the 16.5 and a 100 gr broadhead.. that's my only down fall with Excalibur..
Good review. Thanks for sharing. Honest information from experience is the best.
No problem bubba thanks for watching
Great review yee haw rage makes a 150 broadheads it's on eBay
Thanks for sharing your input.
I'll have to take a look at that.. is it the 2inch cut...
Just checking in on ya. You haven’t been posting and videos. Hope all is well.
Hey there bubba yeah I'm doing well. The spots I was hunting this year they happen to start cutting woods out and it really screwed up hunting season.. however I have been just to see if I might could get luckly but nothing this yr bubba.. I just recently started fishing but the fish is really like on locked down Im guessing bc of the cooler weather but I appreciate ya checking in tho bubba
Ah man that stinks!! Our season hasn’t been very good for us either. I’m in the upstate of SC. Our deer have disappeared. Before season came in we were getting tons of pics. I’m fixin to head to the woods here in about and hour. We have rain moving in tonight so this is probably gonna be my last hunt. Hope you and your family had a great Christmas and hope y’all have an awesome new year.

Hell, id love to buy it.
Get some better broad heads I shot a 219 lb field dressed buck Oct 17 used my excalibur grizzly matrix 200 lb used 16 inch diablo bolt .completely passed through.
I'll take that Excalibur Banshee 308 short off your hands, I'll pay shipping. My daughter could make good use out of it. Thank you.
I have one for sale!
you are a blaming the bow for a broadhead issue......just use a heavy mechanical broadhead....da
Esperience is not a word
Swap your crossbow for my Banjo!
Excalibur makes 150 gr xact
Yeah but there fixed blades ain't they.. they don't seem to fly right with my crossbow
@@yeehaw2720 no I'm sure they are expandables, the bolt cutter by excalibur is the fixed blade and as far as your arrows or some call them bolts, look up south shore archery and give Jerry a call. He costom builds black eagle executioners or the spinal taps tell him whatcha got and he'll build it to your spec's. Just trying to look out for ya, hate to see you lay down your excalibur just for that I love mine!
Good video... But OMG just get to the point
You are so wrong sir! You really need to do more testing!! Confused!
We can have our own opinion.. I've experience this 1st hand so I no..
and i've got a fixed blade that will shoot darts at 100 yards
If anybody is interested I have a brand new banshee 308 still in the box for sale!
how much?
