- Want to know how I built my Robie House (Retired) Architecture set without breaking the bank? Watch this. I am responding to a comment from a viewer who really would like this set but is worried about cost. Comment and let me know if you have any suggestions I didn't cover.
Such excellent advice. This is a really beautiful set, one of the best in the architecture line in my opinion and it is worth the patient effort to get to the final product at a reasonable price.
Thanks. This was a test of patience. I think the process was just as fun.
Great advise this is a awsome looking set . I managed to find someone on ebay to sell me this set with instructions for 200 dollars i was surprised cant wait to build it. I love you videos
Wow! That looks s a steal at that price. I really enjoyed the process of collecting the pieces. Still have a few to collect.
Hi there, thank you for the inspiration and great idea for building a retired set. Just ordered the first lot of bricks for my Robie house build. Cheers.
Thanks! Really glad it helps. I rally enjoyed the hunt. There are also people in Lego groups who can print the name piece for you. May be cheaper than getting one on bricklink. Happy hunting.
2023 and I got the set for 230 including shipping without the name plate. He didn’t mention it, but the lego website’s pick-a-brick has almost everything you need for most sets, especially sets like Robie house, which uses almost entirely standard bricks. And the nice part about The lego website too is that it will save you greatly on shipping costs and if you spend enough, shipping is free. For almost every piece in the set, it was 180. For the pieces Lego didn’t have, it was 50 with my shipping costs and research to find sellers that had more of what I needed to keep shipping to a minimum. I’ve built many sets like this. I’ve got almost the entirety of the skyline series including discontinued ones like Chicago, which I got for half its unboxed price, including name-plate, and I built the creator Taj Mahal for 300 with a lucky e-bay find and the aforementioned websites. It’ll take you a good month or two to get it all together but when Robie house is going 350+ with shipping and the sets like Taj Mahal running a good 500+, it definitely makes it less of a sticker shock to have these cool art pieces.
Really liked this comment. I find that the hunt for the pieces becomes part of the fun. Really liked putting this together
Great video. One of my favourite architecture set. 😊
Yeah this is a great set. A re-release would be pretty cool.
I like how you signed off with the final phrase, "Play well."
Thank you.
Great advice. FLW really was an artist. We did a walk through of a home in Wisconsin based off his designs called House on the Rock.
Thank you. I always wanted to visit House on the Rock when I lived in IL. Unfortunately I never even made it to The Robbie House.
I'm a big fan of bricklinking sets over time. Just about finished with the LEGO House that I started a couple months ago.
My brother was collecting the architecture sets just back before I got back into them. I had bought a couple for him for birthday/Christmas presents. I almost got him the Robie House a couple time, but couldn't quite afford it at the time. I wish I had gotten other family members to chip in and get it for him while it was $200.
Yeah this was such a fun process. Took a couple of years but it was fun. I still have a few pieces to pick up.
Love the Architecture and City-Line series.
So do I. I don't have a complete collection of the architecture buildings but I have all the skylines. Really like them too.
I really enjoy parting out smaller sets like this. So far I have payed out the DeLorean and Mars Rover, both from the Ideas line. Total all in four those 2 are just around $100. The DeLorean had the expensive pieces with the license plates and Flux capacitor, but so worth it. I just finished on the Bat Pod and the last shipment should be in today or tomorrow. Can't wait!
I really want to do that for the Mars Rover. First though, I have to finish the Robie house. The main entrance and the top floor windows still need to be finished.
@@AFOLCyril I used the part out function on bricklink. Out of those 2, the Mars Rover was about $35 shipped.
Like with any hobby that can be very expensive, to buy pieces when affordable is a great alternative to finish any project. Cars, planes, trains and boats fall under the same criteria.
Good video review...
Right on! It’s almost like a game of patience.
Congrats for 200!
Thanks, it's exciting.
I bought this set 9 years ago at a boarders in Lahaina, and it’s still in its sealed box. I’m shocked to see it going for over $600...wow!!!
You got this 9 years ago and never built it? I’m impressed by your ability to resist building it.

Thank you! Just waiting for that special moment to add this build to something to go with it...
Really think this is a good way to do it too if you're in no hurry!
yup. impatience is expensive
Thanks for the advice.
You bet! Thanks for the support. Now that we are at 200, next giveaway will be soon.
And if you can afford to spend ~$250 at once you might be able to find it in FB marketplace. Takes about 45 mins to check every major city in the US. I managed to get the deal of the century and get mine with a box, instructions, and all the pieces (albeit some broken because red pieces snap) for $50!
WOW!!! That a real stroke of luck
AFOLCyril really was! I was also able to get the Sydney opera House (Huge creator set) for $100 from the same seller
What’s the store in Connecticut that you used to buy bricks?
Bricks & Minifigs in Southington. On Queen street.
Cool video,I saw you from Facebook
Hey, thanks for the support.
You got 200 congratulations 🥳
How many bags in box please?
I really don’t know. If anyone does, please drop an answer. If not, take a wild guess.
Great video, very much enjoyed it. Have you, or are you tempted to build an impression building like the Chrysler on Rebrickable?
Nothing from Rebrickable yet but I'm gathering the pieces to complete the span of my London Tower Bridge.
You’re a Very Likable Fellow.
Oh wow. Thank you.
Amazing set and how you got it!
Thanks for the inspiration for the video.
I had to do this with sungnyemun. I’m not spending the money for the nameplate though.
That set is one of my goals actually. I'll add the name plate if I can find it relatively cheap.
I was able to buy a Robie House on eBay that was in bits (no box) for $250 and I was able to get missing bricks direct from Lego for $20. I was lucky it did have the name plate
250 is a very good price. Post a message in the Lego Architecture group on Facebook. I’m sure someone can make one for you. That’s how I got mine.
How do you get the brick list?
Lego archives the instructions on the website. You can also find the parts list on bricklink.com. Happy hunting.
@@AFOLCyril thanks for the info
dibelakang ada berapa koleksi nya
18. Thanks for watching
I got my Robie house for free
WOW! That's cool. That's a $250 gift at least.
