FUNNY THING: Frederick Law Olmsted JR, son of Frederick, in 1911 designed the original plans for the city I live, Torrance, in and again in the early 1920's designed the Malaga Cove Plaza, in Palos Verdes Estates, just in the next town from me. The Malaga Cove Plaza and surrounding area, it is said, remains one of the most beautiful urban locations in the South Bay to this day. Ollie, this was the first video about some of the history of the UK that had, somewhat, of a tie-in to where I live. Thanks for another interesting watch.

In Liverpool it's common knowledge (or at least among people I've spoken to) that Birkenhead park was an influence for Central Park and (I believe) the first park in the UK created for and given to the workers of a city. It's still a beautiful park today and I didn't have a clue that the bridge was the last in the UK with the original wooden design. Can't wait until next time I go there. Thanks for the information as always so interesting and detailed.

I am from (living in) Liverpool on the other side of The River Mersey to Birkenhead,.
Being 57 and having relations in Birkenhead & Wallasey, and relationships with women there as well, I only have one memory of being in the park with my relations in the early 1970s ... Its time to get on the ferry with my bike, and take a good look at the place!.

Great Ollie...the ruling (political) class today could do worse than think about the 'mental-health' of the workers, not sure a new park would be enough these days though. I've walked through Central Park back in the 1980's, indeed, it's a like a little bit of gentle countryside in the middle of a concrete jungle. Hope you're keeping cool, all the best!

Really? I do hope so, it wasn't too good in the 90's when I last saw it, I now live in Manchester and have done for many years now, the place really does deserve better than what neglect it had years ago.
It is the Worlds first proper public park and so has great historical significance and should never be allowed to fall into ruin.
Similarly I see Everton in your name there which brings me to Everton FC or moreso Goodison Park which is the Worlds first ever purpose built football ground.
For that reason alone Goodison Park should never be allowed to fall into ruin or be demolished and/or re-developed, Goodison Park must stay where and as it is for historically significant reasons.

Why is it? There is nothing wrong with Cymraeg, nor is there anything wrong with any of the other Gaelic languages of The British Isles.
I'm curious why you believe it to be bad, I'll admit that it can be awkward at times, and always difficult for non-speakers but it isn't bad really.
