ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus
I think Kanye west is the least interesting thing about her if u have actually read the book
this is so true
For sure
THAT PART^^
PERIOD
LITERALLY
Love seeing all the men’s faces filled with either discomfort, confusion, suppressed reactions, or even regret like the podcast uprisings mention. I wish there were more clubs or seminars for men to come together and recognize their discomfort toward recognizing or supporting women in being their unapologetic selves, as well as reflect on how they feel when seeing women express themselves.
clock that tea!
exactly couldn't agree more
Not gonna lie, I really pre-judged Miss Fox before. But the more I listen to her, she is so intelligent, real, honest and true. She's not afraid to speak up for women and I truly admire that about her. Young women need more role models like her in order to challenge the concerning standards we have on us in this day and age. Her message is loud and true: to be our authentic selves and not let them win.
She was a very different little-known normal speaking person with a boring fashion style and artwork before Kanye introduced her to stylists and the fashion world. He was still trying to get back with his family then, most likely left her, she was super excited talking about Kanye on Call her daddy but afterwards she tries to change the narrative to feed her branding as a "feminist" saying she was trying to help Kim Kardashian by dating him when in reality took it as the opportunity of her life to get famous.
Her "I hate men, they are the problem" discourse is not empowering, is childish, but she knows how fueling victim mentality in young women gains her likes. The truth is her whole life she has dedicated herself to gain money from men, perhaps thats why she resents them so much.
For sure she is intelligent but I have seen already too many times when she contradicts herself and plainly says lies.
She said "Who knows, I might come out with a mixtape..." then she just debuted a few weeks ago her first mixtape at Charli XCX's Boiler Room. She is such an icon
was thinking the same haha! loved her presentation tbh
Nice job Oxford. A truly interesting person given a platform and invited exchange ideas with brilliant students 👏
They were hanging on her every word.
You must be joking I hope 🙏
😂😂😂
Julia is a true redemption story. Some of us poor girls had to fake it til we made it and she sho did !!!!
Redemption of WHATTT!?!?!?!>!! omg i actually hate you all!!!!
Say what you will. I appreciate an honest person. I personally like her. I think she is funny and apparently her memoir is very interesting. She got this far. Did you?
People have this perception she's ditzy and weird but when you actually listen to her talk she's very honest and interesting to listen to.
It honestly reminds me of so many actresses for decades since the 40’s like Doris day and marylin Monroe studying her mannerisms as well as Dorothy dandridge being a blueprint for the “pretty girl uses a ditzy front is actually very intelligent” reminds me of the rejection of trying to embody a masculine demeanor in order to be taken seriously by men, but rather, like Julia, embrace the “femininity” that is actually seen by men as brainless and uneducated, therefore we know this act makes men feel like depend on men but that’s why they embrace it because it’s almost a satirical diversion and almost defense mechanism that is always going to be very disillusioned by the actual intellect women naturally have when we are interacted with which is already sad we expect not to be interacted with anyway by men or anyone to be honest in a serious approach.
Great interview. Her authenticity and candour never cease to impress me. Look how far she has come, with many odds stacked against her she stands here today firmly in her power, unapologetically so. She breathes so much love and empowerment after everything she has been through. It’s inspiring.
There’s lots of hate and a real lack of any nuance in the comments, but it’s pretty boring to see people express their disdain and disregard her influence on pop culture and her clear talents as a writer, actress, artist etc because of her perceived media persona.
It’s so crushing to hear her say that she doesn’t even really know if any men think of sex spiritually 💔 …also I was expecting this to be way more cringe but, alas, she had some good points.
America
@@ryanalexander3088 is that supposed to imply something, as if you can sum up an entire country with solely a YT comment?
If you want to contest my viewpoint, I welcome that. I’m not entirely convinced or awed by anything she said, but it did exceed my expectations (which were, admittedly, extremely low).
I know, I thought that same thought. I was thinking "Aw, I hope she gets to experience this type of connection one day."
She really should find an artistic, grungy, Kurt Cobaine type bf. She would have a spiritual connnection with that type of guy.
I could listen to her talk for hours. Loved her book. She’s so captivating
Good job to those who asked questions! It is a nerve wracking thing to do
The gum chewing is bothersome but she’s amazing and love the book
Lmao I actually love it because I can’t stand the sound of people’s dry mouths and desperate slurping of water mid-sentence at these types of events 🤣
Oxford this is amazing !!! We need women like Julia to pave the way
Imagine higher education being accessible to all. My heart aches when i see students in prestigious universities.
It is, in many countries ;)
Comments did not pass!!! You all feed into this and you don’t even know it. She’s a huge representative for us grimy girls who lived in small apartments and fought for our individuality and hated the “clean” girls who had
What’s a “grimy” or “clean” girl?
what are you saying lmao
I agree ☝️ she represents so many girls who are different and stylish , I love her and her music taste is sick 😻🖤🖤🖤🖤
a lot of comments are dismissing julia super quickly. i'd bet they didn't listen to a single response from her. it's a massive shame seeing someone so vocal, experienced and clever being looked over just because she doesn't fit into archaic standards of intelligence. she's great ❤❤

@@XOXO______lmao you don’t know shit but I guess you give Kanye good head. She had an insane childhood that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Your psycho fave is a short phase of her life. A mistake 💀
I could listen to her for hours ! Thanks for inviting her, her biography is amazing :)
This was healing to hear
15:01 all of the mens faces have me dead
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😅😅
As a proud Angeleno and valley girl I have to say-- KROQ is native to Los Angeles! Not NY
People in the comments are really showing their upper/middle class bias right now.
It's all they know
oh my god, she went to England
She finally met natural blonds and redeemed herself with the blond community.
She’s a masterpiece
Refreshing and thoughtful
literally mother is mothering
the working stoned reminds me of those 60s movies like 'billy jack'
The fact when the audience asked for something to think about, her response ended with “just be really proud of yourselves” wow just wow
Wisdom and creativity galore. ❤
She nailed this. With great care, humor, and candor.
Love Julia Fox so much, she's such an amazing role model.
The posh accents are so jarrring
She's an interesting individual that has so much positivity to share with the world.
I absolutely adore this woman, Julia keep up the positive energy and you truly are a strong woman!!!
that normalization question was such a good question
I like this lady. I don’t know much about her, I just saw her on a Vivienne Westwood post - I look forward to hearing more of her perspectives 👌🏼
i love her so so so much
She is very intelligent and interesting. And honest. I hope they find the right vehicle for her , as far as career.
I came into this blindly but I have goosebumpe listening to her now
love julia
it is really mother of her for only being her iconic self in front of Oxford students. queen.
She seems funny, sweet and down to earth.
sex can be a commodity and intimacy is scared.
She’s so Julia
NICKELBACK!?!?! she’s my queen… a true, honest QUEENNN
15:10
❤
So awesome to hear her talk here
This is incredible
Love Sophia, Coppola” The Virgin Suicides”
KROQ was based in Pasadena, CA
The was really refreshing she has such a great take on life wow
She’s a wonderful person
She’s so fucking fierce. So intelligent strong unique and beautiful
Love her😂
Love her
The audience is just as intelligent, interesting, and beautiful as the interviewee.
she’s so julia
She’s so intelligent and I love her sooo damn much
Uncut gems is one of her fav films… I couldn’t even get past like 30 min 😂
Out of all the things she discussed that’s the most interesting thing you can think to mention? 🥱
I’ve seen 3 interviews of her she truly is an interesting person she’s so much more than the girl that dated Kanye
Loving the gum
if you are chewing gum I need a piece.
The outfit is killing me 😭
Is she wearing maison blanche by yannik zamboni
"Karma is super real". Love that,x
im just obsessed w her
she's a goddess
Right now women are killing it ❤
I love her ❤
Love that outfit!
Gum chewing
I love Julie Fox but chewing gum come one ;)
britney used to do that in the earlly 2000s is a bit of a thing to show she is working class. it's coded
I would ask her what it was like being Josh Safdie’s muse for Uncut Gems
She's a trip!
slay
This is my friends❤❤
Talk about ⚪️ privilege LOL. I love Julia down but I cannot 😂
White privilege is real but she ain’t it lol. Her family is insane and she was homeless a bunch. Her brother was literally arrested for trying to make firearms recently. But go off lol
Why is she chewing gum while speaking on the mic?
It wasn't grainy. You need translation for C2 English.
slaaaaaay
big up to the woman who pushed about pornography>>>>>
Hi, Julia. How do i load a syringe?
what lame questions
Megan Fox’s mom! Jk
Is she chewing??
she's quite the intellectual!!! who knew
Gum chewing, really?
😂
Whats wrong with
A puritan using the comment feature on youtube, really?
it was nicotine replacement therapy ❤
Really. Shock horror.
Are these real human beings?
LMAO!!! Just say what you mean dude😅
Wtf did Julia Fox get an invite for 😂
And yet here you are
I guess you don’t have a bookstore in your city
tbh it’s just the student union so it’s like people can come listen in their lunch break if they want
she wrote a book bozo
Chewing gum though 😑
Why chew gum during an interview ??? 😩 😣
It is so unfortunate that Julia Fox is apparently adorned by these young women as she is certainly not a role model I would ever want my daughter to follow. Julia Fox is terribly narcissistic and self absorbed with little credibility from my personal POV.
Sounds like you’re raising your daughters wrong Michael
12:00 Kanye
"Wait, can you repeat that, it was super grainy - it was the mic not you..."😂 Damn right it wasn't the questioner, but guess what, it wasn't the mic either....
I like her. But would like doctors, scientists and more prolific artists to be our role models.
Can I ask why?
@@ViajandohaciaAdentro
*May I...
There's plenty, maybe you should expand the kind of media you consume so you can see them?
@@delilahsimmons1842
I thought Oxford was the _gold standard_ when it comes to academia, science...
But apparently you're right: I should seek for that kind of content elsewhere.
@@mv848a bit unintuitive to assume that one of the greatest universities would limit new and unique perspectives. What is academia without the exploration of opinions from people from all walks of life, even if you might disagree?
What a ding-a-ling!!! 😂…😢
that porn response.. feel bad for someone who can speak so much and understand so little
Why are we listening to a celebrity's views on these subjects? Who cares what she thinks, she's not the go to expert on these subjects is she?!! Jesus Christ what's happening!!
Conversations without supporting data are rather intellictually depressing.
She’s a memoirist though so like what do you expect?
why?
she does art and acting. what does she need data for?
This isn't a debate, why would she need to cite sources?
