I love this song's metaphors. As a HAM Radio operator this song has that feeling when you are trying to make DX contact and you can hear the other person but they cannot hear you. Soon there is just silence and you just have to move on. I'm most likely channeling too much of my experience into this, but the lyrics of this song are enchanting to me.
I couldn’t agree more. She is one of the most under-celebrated musicians of our time. She’s incredible and has written more songs than you can imagine - many have been co-written with others and many have been played by other artists- you’d never know it was her unless you wanted to know who wrote the song. She’s just amazing. If you haven’t checked out her album called Puxico, listen to it! My favorite song on that album is called “Cairo, IL” 💜💜💜💜
