These perfumes are generally called eetr. There is no spirit (alcholic) content in it. It's made with the oil based content. Because in Muslim's the perfumes having based content made with spirit(alcohol) is forbidden to be applied to a body. It's haraam to use perfume containing alcoholic content. But because of it's oil content it last for more time than the spirit content perfumes. As because spirit evaporates faster in air as compared to oil so that's why oil based perfumes are more long lasting as compared to spirits based perfumes. I hope you understand Chris my friend

Easiest way to find a good attar shop is to visit a locality near to a masjid nearby in your city. Very high chance you get good collection there as well.

Attars are better than that of alcohal based perfumes. Attars are alcohol free and 100% pure. But I perfumes 20-25% fragrance is used with 75-80% alcohol.
