Yet another great and helpfull vid on the d5 , your efforts are appreciated as always and hopefully look forward to a engine mount vid as both my mounts are shot also on my 2002 s60 d5 with 187k and still going strong , love these cars
8 years later Mine IS nowadays on 182.000 and same problem 😅, one question, when you say vacuum you mean negative pressure right?, i am still learning english, and how they interact with the boost controller?, i got a limp mode trigered the other day accelerating at the hightway, i think It was because of one of this two cause It trigered bost controll valve + cps Signal too high which i dont know about yet i checked timing and it 's alright, thanks a mill beforehand i am watching many videos of you and other lad named spanner to keep Up with the s60🔝
Hello, I have to say your video's are so very helpful. I think i have a similar issue, so going to but a pump and do the same test. I'll post the whole issue in the forum. Thank you again Ben
No problem. Whilst you're waiting for your pump, see my latest video which shows a temporary fix if your mounts are knackered and you can use the same trick to see if it helps cure your boost loss.
+SiRobb well my mounts are leaking, but very slowly. going to test the tcv next, as per your lastest video. did you have a video on injector choosing and re assembly. again thank you for the time you put in making these videos they are so very helpful. Ben
+Ben Charlton Hi Ben. I've created a video play list for all my (nearly 50) car videos and injector removal and replacement is near the bottom of the list. 👍
I have a feeling you like the Volvo S80 D5 as much as I like my Volvo S80 D5 very well built & on long journeys it's quite economical at 58 MPH there's a sweet spot around that speed then put on cruise control 👍
Great vid Rob. I have a S60 D5 2.4 TD which splutters and judders at low revs (it’s fine after 2000 revs) had numerous diagnostics done and every time I get the same result, no fault codes so not sure what the fault is. Thus my question, could this be a vacuum issue?
Jay Southall Hello Jay, did you get the low rev sputtering sorted? I just bought a 2.4 D5 and the whirl flaps (of is it swirl flaps, can never remember) is shot. I understand they augment low rev operation. Did you get those checked?
Great video tutorial Si, but why do the engine mounts need to be “vacuumed” ? Could you blank the pipe off and fill the mount with silicone or something else, just can’t get my head around as to why they designed them like this?
This style of mount provides additional damping for the D5 although it isn't used on every car model and D5 version. Every type of mount deteriorates and needs changing at some point so there's no real difference.
Hi Rob, I have the same noise problem. I have changed the 5 engine mounts (D5 185hp) and my car continues to vibrate and make the noise. Both engine mounts (corteco) have vacuum ok. What else should I check?
What is the solution to these vacuum assist mounts. I have these mount installed in my 08 buick enclave which started vibration at lower speed and it appears the mechanic crushed the front line while installing condensing unit. Can i replace all three with after market that does not use vacuum?
Hi Rob, I think I have shot mounts front and rear. What are the consequences of running with shot mounts for a length of time? Did you notice any performance benefits when you replaced yours?
me again Sirobb. ..Did you get genuine Volvo vacuum mounts??? I bought "Impergom" at around £50 each changed them April 2016 and jyst tested them and both are F##CKED!!
Great vid.
I just blocked of the pipe and gone for a non vac engine mount. Was alot cheaper
I am a bit late to the party, but a very helpful video for me to test my mounts on my recently bought 2011 XC90
Excellent camera skills. Such a clear and helpful video, superb! Thanks.
Another top video, thanks. I've got to do the engine mounts on my S60 as they are also shot at 250,000 miles.
Great work Rob, so helpful. Thank Ou.

Mine is also a 2002 on 186000 so your S60 sounds like it's had a very similar life.

Air con high pressure sensor any videos on how to change it plz
Have you tested not yet fitted pad? Is it possible that pad will keep the vacuum only when load with heavy weight?
Hi, when I carried out the vacuum test exactly as shown I got oil come up the tube, any ideas? Thanks.
SelectLettings The oil seals inside the vacuum pump are failing.
How much vacuum pressure should this mount hold?
As you can see on my new mount testing video, it should hold 20 in/hg no problem.
@@sirobb thanks for replying. That's helped me out then as mine can't hold 15 but can hold without dropping. Sounds like a new one needed.
Hi Rob, I think I have shot mounts front and rear. What are the consequences of running with shot mounts for a length of time? Did you notice any performance benefits when you replaced yours?
Did you changed your mounts? If so where did you do it? In a volvo serwice? How much did you pay for it?
I've bought the mounts and am doing it myself so it's costing me around £170.
A dealer will charge around £400.
I checked my mounts they are ok but i have vacum leak from brake booster :(
Is the same on the 2009 v50 d5 engine. ?
No, you don't have them.
@@sirobb how do you teat vacuum pressure on 2012 D5 xc90.
Hello,
