A lovely tour of the garden. I'm pleased to see your Wisteria is flowering OK. Mine has been decimated this year by Woodpigeons for the first time ever. The latest video on my RUclips Channel shows it. Apparently it's becoming a bit of a problem with these birds. P.

@@gardenerscottageblakeney1316 They started eating the flower buds as they started to grow in the Spring, maybe the beginning of March. I've never had it happen before but apparently it's something that seems to be happening now. My wife and I went to Sissinghurst Castle in Kent recently and I mentioned it to one of the gardeners there and he said they had the same problem but not to the same extent that we've experienced this year. I don't know if there's any connection with the now lack of Oilseed Rape being planted or the fact, certainly here in Kent. that Ash trees are very late coming out this year. Apparently sparrows, according to what I've read on Google, will also eat the flower buds. We don''t have any sparrows. I've tried all sorts to try and deter the pigeons but nothing worked. I think the only thing that would have stopped them would have been netting but that wouldn't be very practical. Or shoot them but where I live that would be impractical. Also, not for the first time, they've been eating lots of the leaves on some of my Honeysuckle, Mint Crisp in particular. Oh happy days! P.

That makes sense thank you for letting me know luckily they did not eat ours but we do still have a living ash tree that is slowly dying so they may still be treating that . We had wondered about removing the ash but maybe we should just leave it in view of what you’ve said . Your right there is hardly any rapeseed this year whereas in previous years there has been lots. Is it just due to the wet spring or a change in what farmers are growing I wonder

@@gardenerscottageblakeney1316 Farmers aren't growing it so much now as they're much more restricted in what chemicals they can use on the crop, in particular for the control of Cabbage Stem Flea Beetle. Also because of the very wet Autumn last year a lesser acreage was planted.
