Love the inside tech information about how to operate an open wheel sprint/midget this is great information for a spectator gives me a little more info about what it is that I'm watching Thanks 👍
Hey Tmez you should start a podcast because you know how to talk to a camera and unlike most of the media people for dirt track racing like dirt trackr and other you know what your talking on the technical car setup, rules, experience, ect I enjoyed this much more than the other media guys that talk about dirt track racing thanks Tmez hope to see you in Australia soon come over for the whole summer till chilli bowl next year
I love hearing the tech side of the cars. Being going to races over 50 years and pretty much know when a car doesn’t have the right setup. My ex husband ran modified stocks and my middle son ran go karts and sprint car. Keep it coming. Good luck at the Chili Bowl 👊
The guys at Engler told us at PRI last year there’s a company out of PA (can’t seem to find them now) that makes brake controllers. Said it’s quicker to control the brakes than to play with ignition, spark, timing etc. So when you see a brake rotor glowing on lap 3 of a feature, you have a good indicator of why it is. And that everyone has done it forever but nobody speaks of it.
I’m loving the extra content. As for the rule changes for the winged cars the cockpit adjustable shock is pretty significant. And cheating at the chilli bowl has been going on for years.
Could do a midget 101 video explain all the in car shock adjusting on different track types along with maybe some other adjustments for different situations. Lots of young racers that need to learn these things. Theirs not hardly any informative videos on racing setup and Maintance, etc...
I love your technical insights...although you speak in language anyone in racing can follow, I get the impression you also know WHY it works. Thanks Tmez!
Thank you Thomas for the reply to my comment on racing Aust. My view is from a spectators perspective, that is where we differ. Cheers, have a good xmas.
Your content is fantastic always wanted to drive a dirt car. Never got to my dad used to run back in the 60s 302 GMC six-cylinder and a 32 Chevy coupe. Never got to do it so I get to do it through your eyes.
How much does traction control really work on dirt when you're pretty much spinning the tires all the time? Does it make an excellent handling fast car perfect? Does it aid with changing track conditions versus finding the groove with moisture?
Hey man... Good video... So do you think the change that High Limit is making with the adjustment knob in cockpit is really gonna help all the guys like yourself, Bacon, Pursley and whoever else moves to HL from USAC? At least in the first part of the season, I know all you guys are smart and the rest will figure it out as time goes by. I live in Oklahoma so I am really trying to get everything lined up so I can come watch all week at the Chili Bowl...really looking forward to it!
I read the new rules and don’t see anything mentioned about weight. There is mention of tubing requirements, which will add weight, but there doesn’t appear to be a minimum weight requirement.
How much time would you say traction control gives you over a lap??if you weren’t the best driver say would it give you an advantage?or does it really only give you an advantage if you’re a pro?
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’d love to see some stuff about midget setup in general. Also some in depth car anatomy videos would be super cool.
I dont understand.??? What do they use for a reference speed? Is there a speed sensor in a front wheel or something? Traction control needs a referance speed from an unpowered wheel.
You dont even need a different box. One the davis boxes is about the size of a quarter, is internally mounted in the ignition box and ran by bluetooth and gps.
I was a part of a pretty successful dirt late model team that ran a national touring series for about 10 years (2000-10) and traction control an many teams used it. I felt that it had some advantages but it wasn't as dominant as some thought. The biggest issues in dirt racing is the cost. It needs to be controlled as much as it can. Our budget on a national series in 2005 was 225k for the year. One of my friends who still runs nationally says its over 750k now.
As Cale Yarborough once said, "if you aint cheatin, you aint winnin". Its always been an arms race between the teams and the officials. Money is the factor too. I would like yo see ZERO cockpit adjustment in midgets and sprint cars. Driving a wing car is hard enough without another thing to play with. You would think with midgets being a more entry level series they wouldnt have them to keep costs down, but they do. It is what it is.
TMez I have been attending the CB since 2002. I’ve always been a fan of you, and Critter, etc. you are on the short list of people I would love to see “accidentally” end up in the M main and destroy the Alphabet soup record. I’ve been hoping it would be Johnny Murdock but I just don’t think he’s going to do it.
Traction control is hard to police as it can be buried in ignition software. It has been around for a long time. (read late 90's) One rule I would like to see is the McIntosh rule where if a guy blatantly nerfs you out of transfer position he gets tossed out! The economics of Midget racing makes zero sense to Me.
@@shaunwhatley7235if they’ve migrated towards the direction of drag racing it’s tied to a sensor on the driveshaft the counts how many revolutions it makes compared to the engine rpm and it’s just another line on the graphs they look when data logging
Series need to switch up their tech officials every 4/5 years to stay on top of what you guys are doing. Ideally you would get a crew member to switch allegiance. Not a fan of any in race adjusters. I'd rather guys figure out how to go fast with what they got.
Well if they would quit hiding it in what's suppose to b a legal USAC box traction control should've never have been into sprint car racing don't lie about the traction control either cause this is the reason you wouldn't tell me what kinda box that was on you're car if you need traction control to win you're not a racer you're a cheater you don't need any specific guy to do it just someone who knows how to get into a computer an just look at the programs on it I'm just a hillbilly an I could find it within 20 min
Just wanna say 10 minutes with TMEZ is a great segment
Tech Talk with TMez could be a great new segment... Im all for it! Great stuff.
You and all the rest of the dirt track racers are the true heros and the best drivers!
Love the inside tech information about how to operate an open wheel sprint/midget this is great information for a spectator gives me a little more info about what it is that I'm watching Thanks 👍
Glad I can help you get a better understanding of what you’re watching!

I really like this idea. Getting some insight on things most of us would never know is awesome. Perfect idea for these Indiana winters.

I like this video format. Just hanging out in the office, and giving your perspective on the latest news. I hope that you do a lot more like this.
Nice shoutout to gas city speedway! Good looking sign. 👍
Yes Please MORE Tmez tech talk . Stay safe and have a great Christmas !!!
That Grant RMS news just casually thrown in there
Kinda not shocking, really didn't run that well on the midget side

Great video! I love hearing the insides how you think of adjustments with shocks!

Great job explaining the new rules. See you at the Chili 🌶️ Bowl. 👍🇺🇸🤠
Keep this type of RUclips going. Loved it.

I agree. That would be epic
Google is an amazing thing. You can learn all that on google bud
10 minute Tuesday with Tmez… could be a very good lil weekly video… Tuesday just cuz it sounds better.
Tuesday might be a good day!
Watching from the uk enjoy this side of things understanding, rules, restrictions etc as everywhere as different ideas etc 👌
Hey TMez - this year don't get kicked out of the building at Chili Bowl - LOL.
He got let back in but yeah don’t give it another try anyway. 🤣
🤞🤞
I love your technical insights...although you speak in language anyone in racing can follow, I get the impression you also know WHY it works. Thanks Tmez!
next month will be the 38th year for the chili bowl. i haven't missed one. thanks mez!
great job Across the board driving/technical/ pod casts and LIFE LESSONS.. Great for younger drivers to listen to as a roll model
Thanks for explaining traction control
The rebound spring on the righr front slows down the weight transfer.

Met you for the first time last year at ChiliBowl on Sunday. Wish I was going again but the funds are a bit tight to come from Oregon this year
We had traction control 25 years ago racing DLM locally, it's been around a long time.
All I can say is Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thank you. Very interesting information
Appreciate it!
You need to ask Tom Harris about traction control, they accused him of it in Brisca F1 so he had it tattooed on his foot
Hopefully he comes to nz this season,FWJ has been the top overseas driver in superstocks for years and imo tom Harris is the man to beat in brisca
How much does traction control really work on dirt when you're pretty much spinning the tires all the time? Does it make an excellent handling fast car perfect? Does it aid with changing track conditions versus finding the groove with moisture?
goodluck at the chill bowl man im a big fan
👍. Take a poll , how many drivers can back a trailer. It’s just such a different kind of driving!
I can back a trailer, it's not too hard!

Great video TMez!!!! Rip the Lip shirts for 2025????!!!
Maybe we’ll have them in 2025.
Traction control now is software as you talk about however some fans think it has to do with wheel sensors and such, but that is 90's technology.
Traction control isn’t that the loud pedal ?
That’s right just how you use that right foot!
Shock Knob?!! I bought one of those from an adult store. I don't think it would be safe to use one of those while racing a sprintcar. 😜
Whats up with the Esslinger engine? Thought you ran Englers?
How much time would you say traction control gives you over a lap??if you weren’t the best driver say would it give you an advantage?or does it really only give you an advantage if you’re a pro?
Well heel let's get abs with mirrors and turn signals lol
Cool kiwi trophy and tiki😊
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’d love to see some stuff about midget setup in general. Also some in depth car anatomy videos would be super cool.
See you at the Chilli Bowl, T-Mez. Ate you bringing your RC for the mini chilli? And lets hope you get some payback on Cannonball.
I remember that too!😂
I believe that’s water under the bridge by now?
Hopefully I'll see you there!
TMez Podcast when?
Cool update. That Grant news is wild if not a rumor. I saw that CB has a car that TBA so may be.
It chilly time
Are you bringing your RC midget that you got last year.
Would love to see you run the RC Chili Bowl too.
I don't think I've ever seen a winged fast winged car that wasn't burried on the left side always.
Interested in how much you think wheel offsets change the car at the same spacing off the chassis.
A lot!
give em san jose he.. again this year!
I heard a rumor in Indiana. That push jeeps have fish finders on them that zaps traction control in the mags... Is that true ??
They talk about it but no association has one that I know of

I agree with all of this
Love yea TMes

Nobody is turning them during the race. It’s usually under a yellow.
You should have switched to wing racing years ago!

I hadn’t a clue that there was any such thing as traction control in dirt racing. I had to google it to understand what it is.
It’s been around since the 1990’s.. Like Tmez said though it’s rarely policed if at all.
Can I comment on this later ? Football . I like where your going with this . More of this TMez
Are you an ac fan with that hat?👀
The tubing I understand. But don't bring the fun police
T-mez. How can I an autographed tear off from you ?
25.00
Is this Tmez?
Wat up Tmez 👍
Race'm like they let you.
No T.C. and mandatory frame thickness. Sounds good to me.

Please someone sponsor me and give me a chance with a chili bowl r/c ride 😅
Traction control is cheating it doesn't belong in speedway imop
I agree they don’t seam to police it unfortunately
@tmezTv They tried a device in Western Australia but it affected the cars performance it ran through the mag from memory
@@tmezTv do you think some of these guys use it? I always hear rumors about it

Traction Control in Dirt Track??? LAME AS FUCK. PERIOD!!!
You just need to end these “talk” videos with a zoomie of you sliding through a turn!
If you have traction control on a race car you’re not a driver
get up high and sell some shirts cmon
On your in car video put p number an lap number we can see how your running
