Adobe released a new version of both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom recently and in this video I go over everything you could possibly want to know when using the new panel in LrC. My goal was to break down every tool and apply it to real world photos.
If there is something I missed or a tool you'd like to know more about, please let me know in the comments. As always thanks for watching and thank you for the support!

Thank u very much!
Oh my God, they’ve completely ruined range masking, which is now totally unintuitive. Guess I’ll have to move onto another product.
Muito bom 👏👏👏🇧🇷
Thanks Alex!
This was the best video I have watched about the masking tools in the new LR. I find that it always helps me understand concepts when they are applied to real world examples. Random question, what keyboard and mouse do you use?
I recently got the Logitech G915 TKL and G502 Wireless. I've used the G502 for... I think 10 years. But needed wireless versions of both keyboard/mouse for my setup so thats what I got!
Best masking tutorial yet. Thank you!
Which Lightroom is this
If you haven't already, could you make a video on masking intersections, additions and subtractions?
Not sure there is enough content there to make one, but maybe?
Hi Alex, I really love the photos on your website. I see a way to order your calendar, but not any prints. Do you sell prints?
Hathan, funny you should ask! I'm working on this right now. If you want to make an order, send me an email or DM on instagram! If you just want to wait until they are my website, feel free as well.
Great tutorial! Btw - think of some lavaliere mic as the one you are using is very distracting;)
I have lavs, just prefer the sound and isolation of the RE20 :) doesn't bother me too much for tutorial videos like this!
Awesome tone, pace, clarity so happy to find your video!
Thank you Stuart!
subscribed. your style is sharp and lean but still informative
Thank you and welcome!
Wow that thumbnail tho
Something wrong with it?
@@AlexArmitage no it's great it's so attention grabbing
Another great tutorial. Thanks Alex !
Thanks Samuel!
Great video!
The best explanation of how the masks work, that I have seen so far. Very instructive and well chosen examples.
Wow thanks Marco!
Thanks for this very informative video. It seems ON1 has inspired Adobe to actually improve their masking in Lightroom.
Hi Alex, I thought I knew much more about Lr masks than I actually know 🤔. So much inspiring !
And oh these pictures are so beautiful, I was first watching the video more to see you editing them than for the masking tips haha.
Hope you're doing well !
Thanks so much Loic :) Hope you are doing well too!
Great video Alex! I didn't know about the possibility of changing the overlay color of the masks. I immediately changed it to white masking like you do, very useful tip! Thanks!
Thanks Daniele! Was super helpful for me too
I love the invert button! Don’t think it was there before
Hope we can persuade Adobe to also add one-click inversion of complex masks, consisting of several parts
I think it was? Maybe used for something different though
Very nice explanation about the new masking UI. I was not happy with the red auto show mask setting but your settings look like a very nice way of showing the masks. Definitely going to try those settings as well and see if they work for me.
Let me know if they help!
Hey Alex, love your videos. Can you do a video on editing black and white? I know you sorta touched on it in this video. However, maybe a more in depth one on black and white and how the HSL can affect it. Different examples? Most of us have experience in normal color however black and white would be great to know.
I'd love to but if I'm being honest, I don't do much black and white so I feel like my opinion/advice on the medium wouldn't be all that great?
Thanks, Alex. I like the tip of using the setting where the part of the image not being affected is white. I've been using the orange overlay, and your way looks better.
Anytime Stephen!
Hi Alex,
It's nice to see you again, especially in the context of tutorials on the new features of lightroom, and with new images
It's always great to see how to process an image and to have some concrete examples.
Thanks Gregory! Hope you're well
