The song is in the laboratory being taken apart, studied then represented to us to appreciate the music. Again, it's not about the performer or group, It's about the music. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to do this. We enjoy the behind the scenes. Also, to get to know everyone better.

It's so interesting to hear the comments/feelings of the LLB. I doubt any of you are old enough to remember it, but these interviews reminded me of the TV show 'Queen for a day' (1950's ?). You don't get to play the music of your favorites . . . You get to BE that person/band for a brief moment in time. And we all win !! 🏆

For someone like myself, who has been a fan since I first heard LLB and mostly due to my love for classic rock music having been born in 1955 . I experienced booking acts for almost 25 years at a festival and got to see and know how rich in talent that Kentucky is, LLB is REAL. Not faking anything, the talent is just amazing. Sharing your thoughts and opinions here is special.

I have been a musician all my life. I've written professionally, spent time vocally in some of the biggest studios. The Lexington Lab Band is absolutely at the top of their game! I have listened to so much music in my life that sometimes I have to take a break from listening to some of my favorite artists, but it's not like that with LLB. The variety that they put out just makes everything fresh again. It's not like your listening to your favorite band, it's like your hearing all of your favorites in one place and hearing them all over again from a fresh perspective. I actually stumbled on LLB from a shared post of a friend and have been hooked ever since. Saying that they are a just a cover band is like saying a picture of the Mona Lisa isn't the real thing. God bless all of LLB please do not stop what you are doing, you are truly needed!

Another great interview by Tracy. She knows how to bring out what we, as fans, want to hear. The guys are all great in their discussion of family, humbleness and lack of ego. The one point of needing a big ego to perform in the first place shows that there is no lack of egos, just that they're all kept in check.
Another point I would make is that while they may not sound exactly like each member of each band every time, they never fail to capture the feeling or essence of the song. On the subject of the comment feedback, I did make a comment about a waste of their talent performing Rick Springsteen and I was quickly, but kindly, told there error of my comment. To me, that proves that they not only read them, but they take the comments to heart. These guys are impressive in so many more ways than just their music.

Every musician who has ever been in any level of a 'garage band' plays first because they love to play. There is always the desire and inspiration to do the songs we/they play justice. Just as I have commented in countless videos over the years, you all are having FUN doing this!!! IT SHOWS!!! When you love doing something, it's not work. One of the things that strikes me is that when I was growing up there was a lot of animus in the Christian community to rock music, until Larry Norman and others rightly ask, why should the Devil have all the good music? I don't sense any of that from these musicians even though many of them are committed Christians and even sing and play in church. For me, that's incredibly validating that I was not wrong to enjoy all this music without seeing it as at odds with my faith. So for me this is all joy and a reminder that all that is uplifting about music comes from God. BW3

I absolutely love this documentary series. I really don't remember how I discovered yall on RUclips, but once I did, I think there were about 6 hours of binge watching involved!!😄 To try to sum up my fascination and appreciation for what you do is, I grew up listening to all genres of music, an 80's young teen. Country, Rock, Rap, and Blue Grass. My Aunts, Uncles and and some family friends used to do "jam sessions" in a little house out in the woods in the summer time in Alabama. It was mostly Blue Grass and Country and I was fascinated watching them play. You're videos give this back to me. Actually watching the instruments be played instead of a music video that focuses more on theatrics than performance. Seeing "everyday" ladies and gentlemen with such impressive skill and attention to detail perform these songs is once again fascinating!!! To the musicians and singers...my hats off to all you guys and girls. Keep doing what you do. You are bringing back memories and bringing smiles to a lot of faces. God Bless!!

The back story of how the band came together, the regulars, the guests, and the interviewer is enlightening. These musicians are definitely top tier, but without all the drama that has historically followed many of the bands they cover. The difference in age range of the members says they all work together, and take their musical skill sets quite serious, and combine those skill sets to produce music that is incredible.
Their covers bring a fresh look to all the classics, in a way that drives the listener to keep coming back. It is really that good!

I recently went to your video catalog and sorted by popularity, and I was amazed that your version of Lionel Richie's "You Are" was not at the top of the list. I must have watched that one a hundred times; it makes me so happy. And not taking anything away from Mr. Ritchie, but I like your version so much more! It's one of those situations where the cover has become the gold standard for me. Is it Kevin's vocal? The HORNS?!?! The weird keyboard bass? The drums? Yes, yes, yes and yes. Oh, and the guitar - that seafoam Strat, you know the one I mean - that guy is insanely good.

When playing classical, the object is for the performer to disappear so that the audience hears the composer, rather than the musician. And to do that, the performer has to have his or her performance polished to perfection. A cover band has the same job. The object is to perform someone else's music so perfectly that the audience hears the original, and that is way harder than playing a band's own original music. Very, very few cover bands are talented and dedicated enough to pull that off, and LLB does it better than any cover band I've ever heard.
As for those who criticize vocals, there is something people need to keep in mind. A musician can use the same guitar and set it up the same way as in the original, and it'll sound exactly the same. A band can go out and buy a Les Paul or Stratocaster.. However, they can't go out and buy a "Brad Delp" or "Freddie Mercury" or "Johnny Cash". No two vocalists sound exactly the same, and there is nothing that can be done about it. The vocals are never going to sound exactly like those in the original, so before you criticize, think...

If I was to fault anything or rather critically observe something about the Lab Band (and that’s a tough thing to do) it would be that here, for example in this chat, where are the ladies and the lady musicians and not just vocalists? It’s very LAD band here and that’s great. Surely there are epic female drummers, guitarists and keyboardists in Kentucky too? Just an observation……

I'm constantly blown away by the Lexington Lab Band. I've been following from pretty much the beginning. I found this band because I was following Dale, aka Tone Doctor. I'm hoping to see him in the next episode too because he's a great guitar player and just an overall great human being. I'd love to see my friend Steve Hacker play with this band one day. He's a multi instrumentalist, engineer, producer and much more. Sowega Trainwreck was one band he was in. He lives in Bainbridge Georgia where he has a studio and he teaches guitar and piano. He did a video one time on one of the solo's to Sweet Home Alabama and Ed King commented on it. Next thing I knew he was in Nashville hanging out with Ed. Ed had told him he was playing it right but in the wrong position. I'm sure he learned the right one though. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope the Lab Band keeps going for as long as possible.

This interview has been very interesting and useful toward understanding LLB's relational dynamics, its evolution, its uniqueness, and the reasons for its success. I have a concern. Is LLB working on a long term plan for continuing its legacy and presence on the world stage, should there ever arise a need for a different leader? There will NEVER be another Van Dee, in my humble opinion.
