上野動物園の赤ちゃんゴリラのスモモが一人遊びや長女コモモと遊んでいると、次女モモカと兄のリキがやって来てスモモを誘拐してようとしていました。
リキがスモモを奪って一緒に遊んでいると、モモカは勢いよくやって来てジャンプし、スモモ＆リキにドロップキックをしていました。

Komomo is such a sweet big sister and daughter to Momoka. She just walks by and strokes her Mom and protects Sumomo. She is the gorilla Superwoman.
Momoka was probably jealous of Riki playing with Sumomo, and landed on his back, lol. Komomo is definitely a mother figure for Sumomo. ❤

Oh Momoka! 😮 That was too rough! Poor Riki is probably used to being jumped on, but Baby Sumomo was startled and ran to Komomo. The way Komomo jiggled the baby in her arms to comfort her was just adorable❣️ Luckily nobody looks any worse for wear. Those gorilla kids are very tough. 😍

She's smart as she knows he might drop her! Or hold her too tight. I remember my youngest sister at 1 hated being picked up by anyone but my parents or my oldest sister; if I or my other younger sister tried to she would scream.😄

Momoka is a very dangerous girl she can do lot of damage to little Sumomo. Luckily Riki was in-between or this world have been the end of little Sumomo 😮😮😮

Momoka likes to rough it at times. 9:26 And so does Riki. Well these are gorillas, rough play and tumbling in the hay. Plum is ok and will get accustomed to the hay flying. Thank goodness Komomo is always nearby to reassure and comfort the Plum 🧁 muffin 😊.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to catch up. A lot has changed! Toto was the “mom” the last time I checked and Riki was a good playmate. In this video both sisters seem to be protecting Sumomo from him. Riki can be rough at times.
A drop kick is when the object of the drop kick is dropped, it is kicked before it touches the ground. This was more of a ground stomping.
That looked like it hurt a lot. Riki didn’t move for a while. I hope his lower spine didn’t take damage. Poor Riki. Momoka is definitely a tomboy. She’s clumsy with Sumomo and I think that’s why the baby tries to avoid her.
That could have ended very badly... 😮
Can’t wait to see baby play with her father . Silverbacks are so Amazing to watch when they play with their Babies. Although Sumom is so small still and Her Father is a Gentle Giant. So she’s probably afraid of him. ❤

Komomo is 13 and Momoka is 10. This means when Momoka was born, Komomo was only 3 years old !

Yes. It's quite unusual for female gorillas in the wild to have babies so close together, usually it's more like 5 or 6 years between births, but in captivity it's more common because they have more access to food and don't have to spend all their time and use up a lot of energy looking for it. If their babies are not relying so much on their milk and eating more solid food, they can come into season again. It probably has something to do with BMI index too, just like in humans; zoo gorillas, having more and easier access to food, tend to have more fat reserves than wild ones do and in the wild, a mother's fat reserves being under a certain level will keep her from ovulating and getting pregnant again.

I don't think that was an intentional "kick" of the baby; she just saw Riki playing with her and wanted in on the fun. Gorillas are a lot rougher in their play than human children are, but they're tougher too. It's so sweet how everyone in the family adores that baby, so it's natural there's going to be the odd "fight" over her. Komomo at 13 is really old enough to be introduced to an adult male in a new troop so she can start having her own babies; is it true that there are no adult male gorillas in Japan she can breed with, as they're all too closely related or too old? Probably the best thing for her and Momoka would be to be sent to another good zoo like the one in Taipei that has two young gorilla sisters and a silverback; they both had babies a couple of years ago and they all seem to be thriving (they're on another YT channel). It's not really natural for young female gorillas to stay in their family troop after maturity.

@@karencave4197 I do believe his dad, Momotaro, is their half brother. They have different fathers. His father died before he was born, I do believe. I don’t think they can(or they shouldn’t) mate with Gentaro, being that closely related. Like I said, I could be wrong with how they are related, but they are related.

It is apparently very dangerous to be a baby gorilla abandoned by your mother. You are just a toy to the other young gorillas and mom doesn't care.
If the baby screamed I think the mom or dad would intervene. All the adults in the troop seem to be quite protective of the baby, but at 1 she's at an age to be allowed to explore and socialize on her own. They're a lot more developed and tougher at that age than human 1-year-olds are.
