Hi Nick, it certainly did look precarious in parts. About 20 years ago we were staying in Barnard Castle and I walked part of that route to view the remains of the old railway viaduct. It was demolished in the 70s a victim of Beeching. It had been designed by Thomas Bouch who designed the ill-fated Tay Rail bridge which collapsed in 1879. As I lived in Dundee at that time I fancied seeing what remained of Bouch’s work. Photographs reveal it to have looked a rather rickety looking structure but as it stood for over a hundred years it must have been better constructed than the Tay Bridge.
You'd have had a right laugh at me and my uncle as we speculated over what that could be, lookout towers, river defence against viking invasions, a bridge.....a railway viaduct was the last thing we'd have guessed 😂 A quick Google sorted that followed by rapturous laughter at our wild imaginations
Yes, we speculated on what we thought it could have been, anything from river defence against the vikings to a bridge then googled it only to find it was an old railway bridge 🤣
I do love a good hike with loads of ruins to see.
Me too, I try to incorporate something like this in all my walks, that or a body of water of some description
Ultimate Warrior. Awesome. Such a sad ending to a legend. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, It was almost like he knew he was on borrowed time with his final speech, absolute legend, 1 of my top 5 favs of all time
You instantly took my mind on a journey, outstanding hike.

Places I will never see, but I'm glad you showed this to us 😊

It would certainly be a lot less slippery I bet 😅
I need to revisit these places in the summer to see how different they look

@@NickGoesHiking glad to be of help then. It looked a rather rickety thing is all I can say.
Nice one Nick - need really good boots for that one.....
💯 quite slippery in places and some of the route had subsided on the lower part, have to admit, it was a but dodgy in certain places
Nice.
Thanks 🙃
nice video and awesome drone footage son
Thanks, appreciate you stopping by as always, weather wasn't ideal for drones but I was determined to get it up
your right in lots to see. The part with the building (3.36) that ends at the river, was that once joined over as a a bridge??

Trust you didn’t go all the way there just to test your eyesight 😉
