How I love the team of Gosden and Dettori! Great to see Too Darn Hot fulfill his 2-y-o promise!
Unfortunately, Too Darn Hot has been retired and will retire at stud at Dalham Hall, home of the horse's sire, Dubawi.
Great to see Too Darn Hot back to his best won tad cosily there.
But a Lesson for us all if a horse is good at a mile keep him at that distance.When he missed the Guineas it was obvious to wait for the Sussex Stakes hes a Champion Miler and a pleasure watching win this afternoon.
Too Darn Hot was too darn fast for them all today. Time 1m 38.57s on good ground, very in line with the standard time for this race (Frankel won in 1:37.47 in 2011). Another clever tactical Dettori ride, waiting for the split, then having the horse to take it. The fractional timings will reveal just how fast the kick was, but it looked electric and instant. Great race, in a great week of racing. Well done Gosden for another smart training performance.
Fantastic ! another Grand on at 5/4 I'm quids in this summer thanks to Frankie !
Congratulations mate, keep on Frankie and Gosden
Gosden and Dettori are flying at the moment. Too Darn Hot, a recent winner in France just like The Gurkha did in 2016 wins Goodwood's valuable mile race. Circus Maximus would end up being the best placed of the Aidan O'Brien's runners during the five day meet.
The way Too Darn Hot was fighting for his head the first half mile he may be even better as a sprinter
Pulling Frankie's arms out still with 2 to go... Wasn't a vintage renewal but he's won cosily...I still think he's a champion sprinter in the making.
i said after too darn hot lost his 3rd race in a row this season that he may well still be the best horse in europe by the end of the year.
i think gosden, lloyd webbers & frankie dettori might care about it; not forgetting the punters that back him; including those in america.
ps, i'm 10 years ahead of my time as well as being the all seeing eye.
at whaley bridge they call this horse,'too darn wet.'!
you have yourself a good day now, old buddy.
capiche?
too darn hot has probably got two or three races more this season to prove himself arguably the best 3yo in the world, culminating with the breeders cup in america.
he could run at york or ascot, or possibly in ireland or france, before then, but he will only run in a maximum of two races before travelling to the states.
Even with a broken leg, he won this race. Now he is retired to stud as career ending injury.
Hey Aussies
Remind me again how many open age WFA races The Autumn Sun won?
Good decision to retire him.
Waller pretended he was interested in travelling him. LOL.
It would never have happened but if he did he would have been smashed by the first two in this.
Strange race - you would have thought they would have attempted to run the finish out of TDH but it just seemed a steady pace and they all finished in a heap.
I think they will give him a try over 6 furlongs now and then take in the Breeders Cup 1m Turf.
Hopefully he stays in training next year as this year hasn't been ideal but he might still end up champion 3yo.
TDH looks like a 7f horse. A bend and an easy track made this win possible. A nice turn of acceleration when needed, but I do not see him winning at Ascot over 8f.
Like a lion out of the cage now ,I said after his last race he's no sprinter, that was just a confidence booster, he's back to his best trip mile mile 1/4 he's no frankel,but best of this classic gen of colts , keep him in training next year he'll be winning group one mile 1/4 races,
TDH was only 1 second slower than Frankel winning this race in 2011/2012.
@@anotherblonde I love him ,top quality horse he seems to me he gets in to top gear furlong 7to 8 ,oh and no way I would send him to santa Anita for the b c mile , theres always end of next year when he's a lot tougher and street wise, you never know it might even be the classic????
@@jeanlawley6483 The time never lies; it is why times are recorded. It is why every form guide is based on speed figures. I was there in 2012 when Frankel ran Canford Cliffs literally off his feet. Check the times out for yourself: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sussex_Stakes
TDH doesn’t suit a true mile as proven by his 2 defeats at Curragh and Ascot. A sharp mile (being closer to a 7f race) suits him ideally. The second stamina is brought into play he doesn’t look the same horse as a sharp 7f. Can’t wait to see him go to America for he breeders cup mile, 5/2 looks ridiculously overpriced if Gosden sends him over
'it was september 2019; 23 years previously, in september 1996 at ascot, jockey, frankie dettori had completed his 'magnificent 7', winning on all his seven rides.
inside a virtually empty toy shop, which stood opposite a recording studio, the manageress was looking at several letters, shaking her head; they were demands for final payments on her stock, the lease & electricity.
mrs blanshard, for that was her name, turned to her staff, who were standing in front of her & spoke to them;
''i regret to say that it looks as though we shall have to close the store - there is no more money available to pay you your wages.'
a young man named lee addressed her;
'don't worry, mrs blanshard, i'm sure something will turn up.'
mrs blanshard shook her head;
'no lee, if you & the rest of you will follow me, i will show you something.'
lee followed her to the till & opened it; inside was a pound coin.
'you see, this is all we have; unless there is a miracle, i regret to say that after today, we shall officially stop trading.'
as mrs blanshard tearfully went back to her office, lee spoke to the other members of staff.
'there must be something we can do,' he said.
'but what?' replied a young girl.
lee picked up a newspaper & threw it on the floor in frustration.
' i don't know,' he said, as he stooped to pick up the newspaper, which had opened up on the racing page.
he was about to place the paper on the table, when the headline caught his eye.
'can frankie repeat what he achieved 23 years ago at ascot in1996?'
lee started to read about jockey, frankie dettori's 7 timer; he looked up excitedly & said,
'i know, why don't we..............'
Happy retirement hope you're offspring turn out as good as you,
They should goto the breeders cup classic just like ravens pass
Raven's Pass was just beaten by Henrythenavigator in this race eleven years earlier but got better as the season progressed, a Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and then a Breeders Cup Mile.
TDH a solid miler but he is definitely no great.Wouldnt make the top 50.
That was a Group 1 race in name only. The 3YOs are useless and the older horses (mile) are even worse. I hope they send TDH to Santa Anita for the BC. He'll be the lay of the century! (Guarana is a good thing in the BC Distaff)
Really! Most of that field were Group 1 winners and I'll guarantee Too Darn Hot's a better horse than Expert Eye.
@@jeanlawley6483 17 horses dead in June, huge enquiry under way.
