Your guests are the senses and the thoughts.

how great is Your banquet for the whole Church!

Gandhi said: “I would like to believe what you Catholics believe about Jesus in the Eucharist. But I am unable to do so, because I don’t think you Catholics really believe what you say you believe; because if I really believed that my Lord and my God were truly present in the tabernacle as you say He is, I would crawl on my belly to church every day to worship and adore Him.” Live what you believe so that we can help others believe in the real presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you Bishop Barron.

It's everywhere...not just California. The world's ideologies have found their way into the innocent minds of children and corrupted their hearts also, in the guise of acceptance and complacency. I have difficulty defending my faith with those called Catholic, who accept these ideologies as truth, and are family...

I have believed in the "Real Presence" of Jesus in the Eucharist ever since I can remember and I am 72 years old. I rarely hear a Homily that strongly tells of this "Real Presence". I hope that all Priest will explain the "Real Presence" at least once each quarter on Sundays. This would make a big difference.

Totally agree with you Michael - I'm 66 an d I cannot bring my self to take the living body and blood of Jesus into my sinful hands at communion time. I was taught to revere the body and blood of Jesus present in the eucharist. This should be taught to all catholics on a regular basis.

Again Bishop you give us the sparks for our spirit to embrace the word.
How amazing is JESUS that as he knew what was ahead he poured out all that was needed in his physical absence. There is no doubt in my mind that the eucharist would not have survived if it was simply a gesture to his disciples - it was his last teaching, his gift as a human soul so that we may have his presence (hasn't someone who loved you left you something precious beford they died), a touchable essence, a marking of presence for within when we take him in.

My parents have taught me this belief of the Holy Communion, the Corpus Christi, physically at Holy Mass, as far as I can remember at age 5 in 1950. As I make recollection at this time of writing, I reminisce the Latin Mass and the veil I wore.

  • @emiliavrogers
    @emiliavrogers 4 года назад

Thank you, Bishop Barron. Since stay-home times make it so valuable to stay in the desert (even after Holy Week), and believe what we can gain from saving own lives and others physically, should also above all, almost instantly after awakening from PANIC, ANXIETY, FEAR,
THEREFORE, FIND THE MATTER OF OBLIGATION, connect with God, and break away from too engrossed, EXCESSIVE and busy daily experiences of violence, unholiness, and confusion of minds, hearts, and souls. And while we could have neglected the duty to a true sustenance of the physical body, we could truly use the logical and scientific outcome of neglect of the physical body, breathed by God to give life as creatures.
God by His POWER of LOVE, WISDOM, AND SOURCE OF ALL, presented Creation, in which realities, implications, and spiritual promise HAVE BEEN SO PROCESSED AS WE VISUALIZE IN OUR COMMUNION WITH GOD IN JESUS CHRIST, so that eventually, we will have realized that there will be so few who could deserve the eternal life in HEAVEN. -- From His design and plan, we knew of paradise and how it can be taken away when GOD, THE OWNER AND LOANER OF LIFE, sees that one doesn't deserve (Eve, including the accomplice' OR (Adam) the fallen from temptation to go against the Landlord's rules --SIN. SIN enslaves just as shown of Egypt to the Israelites. YET, God forgives SINS, punishes SINNERS, yet forgives and give chances, as patterns of life of the Israelites with God--PATTERNS OF LIFE UNTIL THE PRESENT TIME IT LOOKS LIKE.
Israelites were gifted with experiences of talking to God thru Moses including the actual dropping of manna from heaven. MANY MORE SINS WERE COMMITTED with patterns of God's forgiveness and giving chances to patterns of kings and kingdom rulings and obligated subjects. SINS BROKE GOD'S DESIGN AND PLAN --AND sins continued to dominate lives, yet God's forgiveness also extended to chosen kings who eventually sinned like David and son Solomon. David, his deep grievance of sin, same way with Solomon's. WEALTH, towering wealth of all kinds were gifted to ancient people until it became causes of revolts and sinful dealings. JESUS CAME as God's gift, God Himself of His Holy Spirit, and PERSONALLY SHOWED WAYS HOW TO BECOME A CHILD OF GOD. Human weaknesses , wickedness and prevailing CARDINAL SINS by human nature, kills the Good and Holy One, due to excessive ENVY: THE GRAVEST SIN OF MEN. Jesus is now HOLY SPIRIT, AFTER HE RESURRECTED. HE IS NOT AROUND ANYMORE TO SHOW US THE RIGHT WAY OF LIFE TO BELONG TO GOD. BUT BEFORE HE DIED, HE LEFT THE WORLD SOMETHING TO ALWAYS REMIND THE WORLD OF HIS PRESENCE: ALWAYS GOING BACK TO HIS WORDS: I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIGHT/LIFE.
Our human spirit is not very sustained and so easily lost of connecting ourselves to JESUS CHRIST'S PRESENCE. This is when we have to include in the FOUNDATION AND BUILDING OF CHURCH, THE HOLY CEREMONIAL WORSHIPPING, AND PERPETUAL COMMEMORATION OF THE LIFE, DEATH, AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, OBEYING HIS WORDS IN CHURCH MASS: THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU; THIS IS MY B.LOOD ..... JESUS' PRESENCE IS IN THE EUCHARIST, THAT WE RECEIVE AT THE CONCLUSION OF EVERY MASS. THESE ARE VISUALIZED LIFE DESIGN AND PATTERNS THAT ARE LIVED IN THE JUDGMENT OF GOD'S LOVE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS. WE CANNOT HAVE A CHURCH, WITHOUT RECEIVING HIM IN THE EUCHARIST, NO MATTER HOW LIVELY, JOYOUS AND GLORIOUS OUR HYMNS WOULD SOUND. ....
ON THE OTHER HAND, MAY WE KNOW THE ACTUAL PROTESTATIONS AGAINST GOD'S DESIGN AND PLAN AND CORRECT THEM. IF WE EVER LOVE GOD THE FATHER, WE HAVE TO LOVE AND LIVE ALONG WITH HIS DESIGN AND PLAN, INCLUDING VENERATING AND HONORING HIS CHOSEN PARTICIPANTS IN HIS DESIGN AND PLAN, SUCH AS THE CHOSEN VIRGIN MARY, JESUS CHRIST, AND JOSEPH---AS WE ABOVE ALL, RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST IN THE HOLY EUCHARIST.

Words cannot describe my experience of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I've been raised Catholic my whole life but only truly FELT the realness of Jesus shortly after attending a Life In The Spirit seminar five years ago. It was an intense period of purification and healing of my being. Through it all, one great revelation out of the many, is that the Eucharist is REAL. In moments of anxiety, He literally comforted me. In moments of loneliness, He was present. In moments of not feeling loved, he reminded me I am Loved. In those moments of weakness, the suffering that was released was melded with Love as if it were one and the same. The pain no longer hurt. So I share my story that if you read this, you may entrust your brokenness to Him because he wants to Love you. Peace and Love 🙏

This explanation always stuck with me from Dr. Ted Sri, he said that after the Jews celebrated the passover and sacrificed the lamb, they actually ate the lamb, not some mere lamb cookies! In the same way, St. Paul teaches that Christ is our Paschal Lamb and we should keep the feast. Celebrate the mass and eat the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist.

So you are suggesting that the Church should have dinner together, and celebrate the Eucharist as part of a meal? That's not a very practical idea, but in lots of Churches, they have a social with snacks, or a picnic on the grounds after services are over.

@@lukasmakarios4998 please do take a listen to some of Dr Sri's podcasts. He is one of the best Catholic lecturers in theology in the English language. His blog is called "All things Catholic". I am sure then you would understand and not misinterpret Erik Serrano's comment. This is not about snacks or socialising after Mass but about the typology of the Passover.

The problem wasn't that much Vatican II but rather the poor (almost inexistant) guidance lay people would get afterward, that would really help them participate better in the life of the Church and in Mass.
Genuine question : what is "more protestant" in NO ? I live in a place where we only have this one.

It seems to me that the loss of faith in the real presence is directly related to the modern mass that surrounds it, stripped not only of the churches sacrificial language, but stripped of the churches long retained external piety and precise reverence around the mass which speaks to the reality of the real presence. Bishop, your catechesis is marvelous. without the timeless mass, people have a hard time seeing the truth of the doctrine you are sharing with us here.

    Thank you!
When I pray the Our Father, I imagine receiving the Holy Eucharist at "Give us this day, our daily bread..." and recieving absolution in Confession at "forgive us our trespasses ", and try to think of someone I don't like or wronged me at, "as we forgive those who trespass against us..."
    😁❤
The Theology of the Holy Eucharist is so deep and enriching, yet our understanding is so infinitely finite...
St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!

Eucharist is the Source and Summit of the Christian Life. Israelites were given Manna for their sojourning from slavery to freedom. John 6 shows us how we need the Body and Blood of Jesus to help us out of our captivity of sin. Heaven is our destination. Thank you Bishop

Thank you for your great messages! You really touch our hearts! I believe ,without any doubt that Jesus is present in the Eucharist! I have a dilemma. I have Celiac disease and cannot receive the bread of Jesus. I know the Catholic Church provides a low gluten host, but any gluten is bad for me so I cannot receive. I have been able to receive the precious blood, until recently. I know that will be a long time if it ever comes back. I am just going to say this is very difficult. I am frustrated, sad and heartbroken. Thank you for listening.

I accidentally got into a discussion with exclusively Catholic friends on my facebook page. Every single one of them said protesting was more important than going to Mass (Jesus would want us to do it) and they were fine with the different standards and restrictions brought on by COVID 19.
My heart is broken, truly broken.

We should truly pray formally.our friends. Some.of us had those low.points in our lives where we did not spend much time.with the Lord. But persistent prayers work. Let us all add our voice together in prayers. Do not be heartbroken but in all things give thanks to God for your friends

People do not recognize their captivity in sin. When you are freed you see it in hindsight; you see that others are stuck-unknowingly captive, but they do not want to hear that they are captive, it feels like judgement. So how do they cross from blind captivity to freedom? If they do not know they are captive, and they do not desire freedom, what do we do? What about our family members? Why do they receive Eucharist without caring? Bishop Baron says “ take it, take it” but they will not recognize Jesus! I think humility is they key virtue, it is not a popular virtue in our culture.

I've being a Catholic since I was born and NEVER after I prepared for first communion was I told or heard a sermon by any bishop, priest, or missionary about the body of Christ and its presence in the bread. These are principles that clergy has to talk about often for people to understand the mysteries of our faith, not just assume that people know, or "feel" it

Bishop Barron, can you do a video on the importance of Baptizing your children. I have a friend who was Baptized and raised Catholic, but has left the church and has been bouncing from non denominational churches. She has a son 9 year old who she has not baptized. I would like a video so I can show it to her on the importance of Baptism. Thank you Bishop Barron for all you do. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😊

... and that my friends is why he is a Bishop. I am a cradle Catholic and went through 8 years of Catholic school in the 70s. I didn't know about the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist until I was 45 years old and after my divorce which is quite painful for me now that I know.
