San Fran is worse. Once the golden city of the west now deficating central. Yet one of the richest in the area is heading to Florida. If I was Florida, I would not let Pelosi in, seeing the state her and her nephew are leaving San Fran in.
You can get used to anything. Our species were wandering hunter gatherers for most of the time we've existed. So basically homeless people. This living in your own home thing is a fairly recent development. It may just be a fad.
They should leave it. So everyone can see the day to day of living in LA. Disgusting, it’s only about the “image” when others come to town. It’s like there is a problem and they are ashamed of what they (city/county leaders) created.
I live in Detroit. They did the same thing here in Detroit Michigan for the 2006 superbowl. Around Ford field they got all the homeless people either hotels or shelter space. And the area was spotless. After the superbowl was over. It was back to normal.
The silver lining for Detroit was someone went around painting the abandoned houses you could see from the freeway bright orange and the city scrambled to tear as many of them down before the games. Up 75, 96, the lodge and all the way to 8 mile was peppered with bright orange houses.
@@kylermellen7535 in some cities, Seattle for example, nice high rises are being built just for homeless people to live in. Guess who's paying for it? People that actually fucking work, people who get in trouble if they dont pay taxes and get fined if caught littering. No wonder people dont feel about the homeless anymore. Elected leaders certainly dont. And the voluntary help available on a local level can only do so much.
All the sudden, the city officials care about what LA looks like. I love this video, shows how Horrible our state is ultimately doing ‘business’. After the SuperBowl, that are will fill up again. I think an after video (follow up) would be interesting…. It’s only going to get worse here. Makes me so sad
I second that follow up. I think it'd be important to have to really prove and show just how little any in power have ever or will ever give a damn. See how they suddenly stop caring again once the event and the money disappears again.
Some of us who have lived in LA for a long time remember the two weeks in 1984 when all the homeless people magically disappeared during the Olympics. More recently it happened for the Oscars around Union Station. The problem can be fixed, but politicians choose not to, unless it becomes a National or international embarrassment for them. Meanwhile, all the citizens have to put up with the filth and crime that comes with their lack of action. But to be honest, the citizens of LA deserve what they get for continually blindly voting for these terrible politicians.

Once again, this was professionally filmed with compassion. You show the most beautiful and the most ghastly dregs of L.A. with an artistic sensibility. You are a better documentarian than many news reporters on nightly network news shows.
I was here for a concert back in November. Coming from a small country I had no idea how big LA was, and just how much of a homelessness crisis they have. An uber driver told us that people come to LA for a dream but when reality hits and problems arise, they’re faced with homelessness. This is so sad to see
What needs to be done about West Virginia? Oh, we don't talk about that problem. Know why? Because California has a massive ecomony and West Virginia has poverty. This is a consequence of Capitalism. Either love it or hate it. Just don't deny it's realities.

Lived in l.a until 2008. Visited it in 2011 and saw some tents and a lot more homeless people in downtown. Majority of these homeless aren’t from this state.

Thanks for documenting this shady behaviour! It’s obvious someone doesn’t want their approval rating dropping even further. Rather than fixing the problem they are just hiding it more and kicking the can further.
How do you fix this without forcing and violence. The only way to get these ppl to live normally and with a sense of cleaning is to literally force them
Shwa, you really cannot appreciate the time, money and effort that has gone into caring for the homeless in L.A. if you have not lived there. Sure, the Superbowl is the motive behind the cleanup (a temporary fix, I'll agree with); but it is still this long, frustrating, and IMO hopeless effort of society to come to terms . It is not Republican, not Democrat, not liberal nor conservatives who are responsible. It's all of us.
How can a corrupt-ass city like that think their approval rating would be any good? You couldn't PAY me to live in that rotting junkyard of political shit and piss.

No. The liberal way. Los Angeles is just another in a long line of big liberal cities that are total shitholes. NYC, Atlanta. Chicago, Seattle, Denver, New Orleans. The list goeson and on
No news channel except Fox will cover this. The people who need to see this won’t. Or if they do they’ll just assume fox is blowing things out of proportion. It’s a viscous circle.
My city hosted world cup soccer, in Africa. Man all the street kids n beggars were removed real quick for the duration of the event in the city centers.
You know what’s worse than cities being taken over by the homeless? The destruction of society that is painfully evident by the arguing and finger pointing in the comments. I am homeless in Florida because I am disabled after a career as a long haul truck driver. I do not smoke or drink or do drugs. And I am a senior living in a vehicle because there is no assistance for the unhoused here. I’m originally from California and had a wonderful life in the 80’s. Shit happens and not every homeless person is that way because of drugs and/or alcohol. Everyone saying crap about the homeless better be careful. Anyone can end up homeless. Everyone is one job loss or accident or illness away from losing everything. I had a 5 bedroom home with a pool and it’s all gone. The home I bought with my first Husband was $106,000. Now that property is $600,000. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s wrong. Greedy people, capitalism and inflation. One fateful day in 1986, my Husband came home from a job in the oil business he’d been at for 17 years and announced he’d just been laid off. We ended up losing everything. Left California in 2000 and I’ve been homesick every day since. Nowhere else can you go from the city to the beach to the mountains to the redwoods to the desert in a days drive. Stop fighting and be grateful for what you have because it can all be gone in an instant.
Great story. I try and help out with whatever I can. Even though I'm doing well now I know it can happen. One of my friends is close...no family and borrowed too much money from friends. Hope things turn around for him. I think what drives people crazy is the mess and the smell....there's a guy here in NYC who just lays on the sidewalk like he's dead....but he's just sleeping and all his crap is around him. I'm sure he attracts lots of rats. If the homeless would just clean up after themselves and keep their area tidy I bet they would have much more sympathy. Hope you make it back to CA in the future. wishing you all the best...
Okay. As a former homeless person that lived and lost everything in California myself, I can say this. And I'm only going to say this once, so there's no need to reply. If someone else has figured out a way to make it, so can you. That's all I'm saying. I know what it's like to lose a home in California, a good one. I know what it's like to sleep in a car. Did it for months. I know what it's like to have to wash up in a bathroom of a restaurant. I know what it's like to eat nothing but bean burritos because you don't have the money to buy anything else. I know all of that, I get all of that. And while I'm not saying that it's tough, I know that with some self-introspection, some determination, and a lot of thinking, most people can get out of whatever situation they're in. Like I said, I'm not preaching, and I'm not expecting a reply, and I'm not going to answer any replies. But, in the end, we have to take responsibility to ourselves, and understand that no one is coming to help. The quicker we realize that, the quicker we can overcome whatever situation that we're in, and yes I said whatever situation we're in, and get on and live meaningful productive lives. It's completely up to you. Out.
@@squantohaze5562 I agree it's a problem. But Cali has the sexy homelessness. West Virginia has the dirty white faced trailer park open sewer lines type of sexy.

@Ay B - It seems to be a common theme with CalTrans. The homeless have clipped fencing through areas by the freeway here in San Diego and they've set up encampments. It's worse Downtown SD, the 5 runs through it.

These are all over the San Fernando Valley. A few have been cleaned up but most I am around have been in the same spots for over two years now. They seem to be more worried about appearances than anything. The money being thrown around in this town is unbelievable, but the problem only persists. Thanks for showing the glitter has rubbed off despite the face that is presented for the tourists.
These are interesting stories. I noticed after you covered the train tracks mess, all the news outlets picked up the story all of a sudden. When you reported on the homeless in Venice Beach, suddenly that got cleaned up in the Echo Park and on the beachfront. Now the camps got pushed inland, and they want to suddenly sweep them away like dust to tidy up for the Superbowl. How ridiculous. I noticed on the east coast there are far fewer homeless around. NJ they pretty much vanished when they used to be all over. I think maybe they are being sent west or south or just disappearing. Even NYC you barely see them around, the beggars and homeless. If one would pop out for a day, you would get the dirtiest looks from people for trying to help them. They are persona non grata here, and out there they are swept around like tumble weeds.
They shouldn't be there to begin with. They don't want help, just money. LA county should pay them by the ton to pick shit up off of the street. The place would be clean within a week and the price of shit will skyrocket...

I hope you’ll do a follow up. I’d be curious to see what everything looks like on SuperBowl Day - and how long it’ll take for the homeless to re-occupy the space after the game. You filmed this with a sense of compassion. I live in NYC went to visit a cousin who got married and moved out there back in 2008 - and I remember being shocked at how bad the homeless situation was in many areas of LA. It’s WAY worse these days, not better. Prior to ever going to LA, I had heard about the homeless problem out there, but it’s impossible to grasp how many thousands of adults and kids are on the streets until you see all these encampments scattered around the city. It’s sad that the problem is so bad. There are lots of homeless people in NYC too, but you don’t see nearly the same number of people on the street as LA. It was more noticeable when I was a kid, but NYC really has made a huge effort to get people into shelters and motels over the years - there’s so many people who always need help, though and there will always be speople who would rather live on the street, sadly, despite being given options to get a warm bed and some help with finding work, getting healthcare, getting other assistance, etc. I’ve heard countless stories about various programs helping people (especially those with kids) get back on their feet and totally independent with jobs and their own apartments again. I don’t know why it’s so much more prevalent out in LA, but it’s really sad that the city waited until the Super Bowl to try getting some people into motels (I’m sure there have been numerous fires in the encampments for years), and only right between LAX and the stadium - and that’s likely temporary. It is really cool that you interviewed the guy that was collecting bottles to get his take and experience. Very nice that he was okay with being filmed because some homeless people get scared/paranoid to go on camera. You asked him some great questions. Thanks so much! I recently came across your channel. It’s really fascinating - something for everyone to be interested in watching!

First of all, Thank You! I grew up in Phoenix, and going to Los Angeles and the surrounding areas were just amazing. I haven't been back there in over 15-years, and it makes me sad to see the state of decay. This sort of thing has been going on, longer than I can say. I was living in Phoenix in 1993, when they hosted the Super Bowl. Of course, it wasn't that bad. But I do remember how they gathered up all the homeless, that lived in the downtown area, and gave them a 1-way ticket to Los Angeles via Greyhound. Even though the event was in Tempe, they didn't want visitors, who decided to go downtown to see what it normally looked like. It's just sad how this continually happens. Turn a blind eye. Thank you for opening people's eyes to what is really happening.
City didn't pay for it. And housing is not the solution drugs and mental illness is the problem. Most of the homeless are not even from LA like the rest of the residents.
at the construction site of the stadium, you can steal a lot (for example, stupidly inflating the price of construction, work) and get rich. And what do you steal at a housing construction site for the poor?
Have you noticed that in recent years, whenever a city is hosting a major event, we see videos on the homeless cleanup? It has become a normal part of life in America.
This reminds me of when my parents would go out of their way to clean off the junk off the dinning table, the kitchen, put away the clothes that was thrown in the living room just to impress people for 5mins. Then it would go back to being the same within a weeks time.

They should leave it. So everyone can see the day to day of living in LA.

@@MaximusTheChosenOne Democrat policies (both long and short term) have created the California homelessness surge. Would you like me to list them?
I live in Detroit. They did the same thing here in Detroit Michigan for the 2006 superbowl. Around Ford field they got all the homeless people either hotels or shelter space. And the area was spotless. After the superbowl was over. It was back to normal.
It's almost like they actually don't care about the homeless?? Wouldn't you say?
@@kylermellen7535 definitely!
Bro we can't even compare to them. Something needs to happen. They are enabling over there
The silver lining for Detroit was someone went around painting the abandoned houses you could see from the freeway bright orange and the city scrambled to tear as many of them down before the games.

Out.
The truckers protest hopeful it will spotlight these things

Commiefornia looking like china hide the bad and only show the good. What a clown show this country has become in such a short amount of time
I'm here in Tempe, Arizona 👍 Right near University and Mill Ave. They can keep the Superbowl 😂
This is every city state now brother
The Trump states have been "bussing" their undesirables for a long time now. Give them bus tickets back to their home states. Problem solved.
They should have returned the favor and bussed these guys to Tempe for the superbowl
They can build a 5 billion dollar stadium but affordable housing is scarce. Unbelievable
City didn't pay for it. And housing is not the solution drugs and mental illness is the problem.
Most of the homeless are not even from LA like the rest of the residents.
You mean, the city got paid a 5 billion $ stadium so the Dark State can continue there drug sale, spreading out from Skid row.
at the construction site of the stadium, you can steal a lot (for example, stupidly inflating the price of construction, work) and get rich. And what do you steal at a housing construction site for the poor?
You think this is an affordable housing issue!?🤯 keep drinking that Kool aid
How affordable we talkin
Have you noticed that in recent years, whenever a city is hosting a major event, we see videos on the homeless cleanup? It has become a normal part of life in America.
Sad to see! God Bless all my homeless sisters and brothers 🙏🏼❤️ stay strong and know that God and I love you
I grew up in Santa Ana, Garden Grove area back in the the 70's.
Back then it was the place to live.
I live in Idaho now.
Love your updates because the media isn’t showing this homeless crisis in CA.
It's cause there BLUE wave crashed
They show it all the time.
i like when you talk to the homeless and ask them their thoughts on the situation in LA
This reminds me of when my parents would go out of their way to clean off the junk off the dinning table, the kitchen, put away the clothes that was thrown in the living room just to impress people for 5mins. Then it would go back to being the same within a weeks time.
Homelessness isn't the problem...affordable housing IS. Thank you German in Venice for keeping it real.
Well it's also issues caused by alcoholics and drug addicts, not just unaffordable housing lol
Keep brining 3 million people to America each year...see what housing issues arrive.
When you have open border and illegals flowing in... the housing market goes up. There is more demand than supply and that’s what drives the prices up. Thank Joe Biden and Gavin newsom... and all those career politicians that get voted in to enrich themselves
@@Dog-Running-Backwards Alcoholics and drug addicts need places to live too.

What would youtube do without this guy…. Great content!
Same thing happened in San Fran 5 yrs ago when super bowl came into town. Don’t worry it will all be back to normal with in days after the game is over.
Hope you get an emmy for short documentary. Thank you for showing the world the truth. Pray the really help the homeless. Peace and respect.
It's amazing how fast they take action, when it's to save face
Every city does this
Thats Democrat Liberal Politicians in action
@@shawnkay5462 there is massive poverty and homelessness in Republican run cities as well. This is def not segregated to democrats, this is across the board and it’s only going to get worse, much worse.

GIV has the biggest heart ever❤️.
He has unconditional LOVE for LA. no matter what we think.
I used to live in Compton back in 1971 and it was pretty bad back then but nothing like it is now.
As an 5th Generation Californian Tax Payer, allowing the Urban Campers to make a mess like this is criminal. Someone has to be the bad guy, hold these Adults on the Streets and Politicians be accountable for their actions. ✌️ 🍇 Fresno, CALIFORNIA
How. How do you hold someone with nothing to lose accountable. It's been tried, nothing short of violence would get cooperative behavior. You would need to offer rewards for citizens "cleaning up and fighting homeless
Facts 💯💯 people will say you can't hold these crackheads accountable but someone had to address it
Only the politicians, not the people on the street, you're sounding like a lumpen when you attack them. And I assume that if you're a 5th gen homeowner you're also in on the crime.
Classic - blaming poor people for being poor.
Urban campers? That's part of the issue right there. Just call it for what it really is instead of rebranding it to sound better.
Last aug/September Portland,Oregon did the same Half Assed cleanup to impress visitors of the Indy car races.Every freeway ramp wa filled with tent communities, truckloads of trash and streets filled with broken down cars, motorhomes and buses. I originally booked my hotel online, then looked at street cameras and verified homeless encampments surrounding my hotel..do I changed my hotel online to a different one a bit farther out,- same problem, so I changed to a 3rd hotel online and still had homeless everywhere.finally ended up at the Marriot North. Still disgusting but it worked a few days.
Right. Saying clean up is not realistic. You have to literally force these ppl out into the areas nobody sees
Yes I was just telling that story and saw your comment. Funny how that works.
Portland is disgusting I have never seen so many used needles just laying around in the streets it like the people just got used to all the drugs and crime it’s really sad
@@bigtoke5220 ya and the state hands out the needle s.
I like what you are doing so much that i like your videos b4 i even listen...
It's so pitiful and sad to have seen this video and know of the problem of where the homeless live and makes me count my blessings every day that I have a roof over my head and 2 or 3 square meals and able to pay mortgage and bills with ease and all I can do is pray for these people less fortunate than me just to have their day to day burdens eased a bit somehow by the grace of God !!!!
Very sad to see what this city has become. People need help more than ever and we have more than enough resources to get it done. California needs real leadership!
It’s been like this for many many years it’s just become worse
Americans DO NOT CARE...that's why
@@billiamc1969 they also can’t decide what toilet they need to use, how are they supposed to help anyone else 😂
Gimme a break! 99% don't want help. You act like there aren't programs out there for people who don't wanna live like that.

Honest and on the pulse. Great stuff.

Any occasion is the right occasion to remove an encampment.
Excellent reporting sir!! 👏👏👏👏
Interesting how NONE of this is on MSM. Typical way we handle things. Temporarily sweep it under the rug to maintain the illusion of America's "greatness".
Just for show, shame on California for letting this get this far. God Bless those who help the Homeless NOT be. Peace and Love.
God bless this Channel!
it's not just a california problem. cities in other states use to give their own homeless people 1 way bus tickets to california or NYC and promised them they'd find jobs there. some homeless people intentionally go to california from cold climates so that they wouldn't die of the cold in the streets. what is california supposed to do about it? california already has a million different programs meant to help homeless people get back on track. unfortunately a lot of people simply don't want to work while others are hopelessly addicted to drugs and can't function in normal society.
@@solomonshv OK, so you know some of the truth, but very little I add. Try going outside of your box, learn more about what is going on there. You have a one sided view. Open up your mind to learning, I'm not attacking you, I'm imploring you to become more to give more. Peace and Love be with you and yours.
Thanks again Mr. President. :)
GIV, I hope you’re using extra caution when going into these homeless encampments.
He's streetwise.
Why? They're HOMELESS not CRIMINALS... Relax, he's fine!
@@ThatHomelessScrubbalo Most homeless are drug addicts and the mentally ill. You know that. It's highly dangerous.
@@bigguy7353 one homeless guy I know is nothing like that he keeps to himself, don’t ask for money and if you offer him something he won’t take it.

hey God bless you Anthony {the man you interviewed} ....stay safe out there .... the homeless are in a constant state of struggle and they need our compassion because politicians are underserving them ...We have the same problems in San Jose CA.......German, you are a good soul to highlight this ongoing situation
But there are NO homeless people in Alaska! Why? Because it's cold in Alaska. When it gets this cold in California, there will be no homeless people!!!
Wow let’s sweep this under the rug for Super bowl , giving vouchers to hide the truth, this is pathetic. Thank you for sharing the truth, God bless you🙏
Really eye opening...excellent job.. Your the right person for this job. See you in the next. GO RAMS!!!!!
Would love to see you do an "LA-basin" overview with describing how the counties in LA relate to one another - San Fernando, LA, OC, San Bernardino, etc. Would love to see you cover an overview of how public money gets allocated in LA
San Fernando is in LA county
OC literally stands for Orange County…it is not LA!
The government is ashamed of the situation here in LA, they're ashamed of themselves for letting it get this far so this is the best band aid they could come up with. There really isn't a solution to this problem and it will get worse and worse and worse....when people stop carrying about themselves and expect or feel entitled to handouts from others, there is no going back. How do you teach someone to care about one's self? Heartbreaking what is happening to society everywhere, inevitable downward spiral.
You're assuming too much of how they think and feel... How do you know they stopped caring about themselves? They cant clean themselves up. They're dirty. Just because they LOOK like they gave up, doesnt mean they did... if i didnt care about myself, i wouldnt have gotten OFF the streets... Just saying. Look back throughout my entire video library and you'll see the documentation of homelessness. I've been a content creator throughout my time on the streets. You'll see how we actually feel about ourselves... Not hating, just wanna show you how they feel... Some HAVE given up, but that's only cuz it wears you down having people treat you like mangy animals. Having others tell and show you that you're worthless. Some homeless people start to believe it...
@Jac K Agreed!
Believe me, they have NO shame in this. They don't see the removal of human beings. Their eyes are too blinded with greed!
The government is not ashamed of itself at all. Lol especially government in California. They literally brag and boast about where they are from. It's quite hilarious. Progress
It seems like the people that need help can't get it but the people who abuse the help are always first in line what a sad sad world we have become
