Sad to hear of Scoey’s passing. Loved him in the 70’s /80’s and since the internet, I’ve tried following him. Such a funny, smart, passionate man. So good looking too! Love that he was still with his wife. Rest In Peace sir
Wow. I am glad I happened upon this interview. Always did like Scoey Mitchlll and I love a good, intelligent interview such as this one. Good to see Robert Hooks as well. Both of these men have aged handsomely.
Wow, two of the greatest black icons looking great. love the topic and the truth they speak. love these two. So right about tV saling and not balancing. Yes, time for us to come together and support one another in 2017.
Damn I came here because of Jerry Seinfeld and Eddie Murphy's discussion of this guy and I end up liking his wonderful interview better than anything they have to say and I find out he just passed. Rest In Peace, sir.
2013 the year, and he made it to 80? Cigarettes he did during Match Game and he survived to 80, amazing to me. May 26, 2021 to me here at the town of Cheyenne Wyoming did you do that?
Well who’s to say he didn’t smoke when not on camera. This interview is from 2013, and he’s 83 here the guy sounded like he did in the 70’s, and looked great. May he Rest In Peace. He was very underrated.
I must say I agree with Scoey Mitchell about T V too much violence too much swearing etc. there are too many who like that sort of thing they think it s cool what is so cool about it ? a lot of shows and movies are too crazy for me I would n t waste my time with any of them
wow, Scoey Mitchell. I just saw an old episode of Tattle tales with him and his wife. Googled him and this came up. he looks fabulous here. His bio says he started at 37. What was he doing before that?
I didn't know anything about this show. It's as if we are hiding positive images. We need their wisdom and influence today more than ever. It's sad bc I grew up when these distinguished gentlemen were at their heights and still saw little of them!
When was the last time you ever heard a Black man say "Let's go watch a Tyler Perry production?" Like never. You only go if your girl takes you. His movies always go for the stereotype of Black people and always show brothers as the villain. Scoey and Robert were being polite by not calling out Tyler on this. Hollywood has never liked Black people. They usually only let one or two make the big money at one time...Poitier, Pryor, Washington, Murphy, Hart, etc. The only way Blacks will get the balance discussed in the video is when Blacks pool their resources together and make and distribute content on our own.
Check out Season 3 Episode 5 of "Police Story", The Cutman Caper. These 2 gentleman portrayed police detective partners. It could have been made into a very good series.
I love my black people but today it seems like it’s more important just to be paid instead of portraying a good images....people like Mitchell ,Robert hooks and Esther Rolle fought hard in Hollywood and they broke Barriers idown for us to have good roles in Hollywood and here we go back to Shuckin and Jivin’ In the name of money.
Sorry guys, I go way back with Scoey Mitchell (nee Michll). What were the contract differences with ABC and producer William P. D'Angelo that got him fired from "Barefoot in the Park" in 1970? I loved that show. I felt it had tremendous promise, coming one year after "Julia." I felt it was time to compete with "Love on a Rooftop," "Bewitched," "The Brady Bunch," "The Second Hundred Years," and all the other moderately successful white comedies of the time, which I all also loved, by the way. I felt that "Barefoot in the Park" with Mitchll and Reed were charting the future, but then the rug was yanked out from under the dream after only 12 episodes. What happened, Scoey? You broke my heart because I loveed that show and it was OUR time. What happened, dude?
@@buicklincoln Perry queitly got his studio up and running Booya!! He named sets after famous black actor and actresses. The Ozzie and Ruby Dee set. The Sydney Poitier Set. Spike Lee just to name a few of the honoees Perry named sets after. This is his big hollywood in Atlanta! No need for black people to go to Warner Bros for shit! What you say to that?
I"m a little worn over people criticizing shows like Good Times & The Jeffersons. Those shows were iconic. Why must we, so called proud people, put down one Black show, (The Jeffersons) in order to hail another Blk show (The Cosby Show). Why can't we celebrate ALL shows?
Anybody that puts down those shows MUST be YOUNG..WE loved and still do love those shows along with Sanford and Son etc....Cosby show only showed a certain part of black life. The networks ONLY want comedy and silliness..OR about a broken black woman..from us..and thats it from us
Jeez, television has never been better fellas. The greatest shows of all time are being created today. However, I agree there is too much sex and graphic violence. If I want sex i'll watch porn. I'm embarrassed to watch half the shows out there today with other people. And the blood spurting violence doesn't add anything to the show. We've had enough of that now. I'm not saying "no violence." But shows have been trying to one up one another by getting increasingly nasty. I think they've pretty much reached bottom of the barrel in that department.

He’s absolutely correct. Scoey is a wise man, and the world needs more people who understand the media (and the world) the way he does.
Wow. I am glad I happened upon this interview. Always did like Scoey Mitchlll and I love a good, intelligent interview such as this one. Good to see Robert Hooks as well. Both of these men have aged handsomely.

Wow! I didn't know if Scobey Mitchell was still living.
A very funny man!!
I like that idea. Assimilation not integration. That would have worked out much better.
I really like Mr. Mitchell and miss seeing him on tv.
The movie Robert Hooks is referring to at 14:56 is "Trouble Man" (1972).
Best movie theme song ever!
The Tracy Reed love scene.
I miss him!
Both men look great!!! I love Mr. Mitchell on match game and Mr. Hooks' son has just followed in his footsteps.
they do and their minds are stronger than a lot of young people, they are the real deal. Dignity is something they have that money cant buy.
Scoey still looked so good in this video......what is his secret!?
Hes 90 yrs young!
Decency and Integrity.
I loved to see him on Match Game, so suave, sophisticated and a handsome brother. Hope he is doing well.

These comments could all be written today and still be true..... This stuff needs to change
Still So Very Handsome!!
wow, Scoey Mitchell. I just saw an old episode of Tattle tales with him and his wife. Googled him and this came up.
he looks fabulous here.
His bio says he started at 37. What was he doing before that?
I remember this cat doing stand up comedy years ago, didn't know he was still around.
I always wondered what happened to Scoey
Excellent. Pioneers.
I didn't know anything about this show. It's as if we are hiding positive images. We need their wisdom and influence today more than ever. It's sad bc I grew up when these distinguished gentlemen were at their heights and still saw little of them!
They are. Mass Media and You Tube in general fast tracks this sort of thing to the bottom of recommendations

You're so right about the stereotype part.
Yes. Absolutely.
I've always wondered as well, would we be further along if we hadn't segregated?
Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfield brought me here
Me too!
Thank you.
Jerry Seinfeld and Eddie Murphy interview brought me here.
It was Murphy that brought me too!

Yes!,Something must of happened that wasn't good.
Scoey is still FINE!!
jerry seinfeld and eddie murphy sent me here
Seinfeld/Murphy spoke up his name
It's all about botox, facelift, big butt many have lost their way.
Ugh
You spelled his sir name incorrectly. Believe it or not, it MitchLLL
He went by both.
He was old enough to be Tracy Reeds father when the 2 of them did Barefoot In The Park? It didn't look that way.
Mr tyler perry needs desperately to see this interview... IF HE IS CAPABLE TO UNDERSTAND AN ANALYSIS LIKE THIS
Perry doesn't care, but he should. He's making too much money off of the buffoonery.

Love America STYLE
He is great. Is he still living?
Janice Bonilla alive and well, 89 years young, and still with Claire
I SEE YOU ON MACH GAME 76 I NO YOU YOU R. A . GOOD MAN
B supporting B is impossible, we don't do it, too much envy and Jealousy, integration backfire destruction of B community.
Omg,Yes!,Sad but true SMH I don't like it at all. Ugh

Match games
If I found the correct Tracy Reed, she passed in 2012 from liver cancer.
dear dear dear they were fantastic together
Kashaslove You're talking about the WHITE Tracy Reed. The Black actress is STILL very much alive. And she STILL is good looking!
Tracy Reed alive and still beautiful!
I like Scoey but let's be honest, one of the top 5, maybe top 3, worst Match Game and Password players ever
I luv ya Scoey what a well rounded man intellegent and so funny.
Really? Wow
