And you're right, people are VERY protective about their source for these valuable berries. I need to plant these bushes ASAP. I grew up in NorCal ... the Sierra foothills. Loved skiing at Kirkwood as a kid. :)

I've had this now, but I'm not sure if it was a right way for elderberry and will go well.. some of them have gone already, but it was smaller one and not lively that much, i think. Now, Im laying them at the porch outside where they can avoid direct sunlight.

That's a great question! The variety that grows in our area is Sambucus nigra. You may want to verify what varieties grow in your area and if they are safe for consumption. I would assume they are all good but please double-check! This might be a good starting point: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambucus

Hoping I understand your question right: I would cut them right above the clusters of flowers and use them quickly as they will turn brown. Good luck!

you can dry them and put them in air tight bags or jars they will be fine
