It's been a month with this tech issue where every time I open it, I have to sign-in. And I can't use FD if there is no internet. Their tech support, a month ago, said they are working on it. I'm about to quit it. If it takes them a month to try to solve a known issue....not worth it. They make a ton of money. To take this long to come back with a result, especially since live productions might need...yeah I'm done with it.
I am so sorry that you are having this issue and that FD hasn't fixed this yet. I agree with your frustration this shouldn't be an issue and that they should be getting this fixed pronto. I hope they get back to you soon. If you are looking for a software were you won't have this type of problem I would take a look at Fade In.
I know it maybe a voice in the wilderness but I will say one thing in the favour of FD 13, it gets on a lot better with Scrivener compiled script docs, in fact it is so smooth it is almost effortless. This may not be a big thing for most folk but if you have a lot of script ideas in Scrivener format till recently it was a real buggy event transferring from Scrivener to Final Draft. Enjoying the videos keep up the good work.
Awesome I am glad it is working better for you! Thank you for sharing that. Are u moving completely from scrivener to FD? I am hoping they can also begin to address a lot of the PC problems that people have been experiencing.
I have a back log of 1st Drafts that were done in script format with Scrivener. I realise now that was a mistake, as they are really "Buggy". I am hoping to get clear of the Scrivener versions now and have them all on Final Draft. From then on I will only do my "Outlining / Research in Scrivener, hopefully.@@ScreenwritingScribe
@@joecrieda7555 have you tried these outlining and the research in FD? It is pretty close to scrivener. I love those features in scrivener and was the reason I bought it and used it before FD
Maybe you can compare the beat board and outline editor between various versions. Even talk about the history, what version did the beat board come out and what was it like back then?
I have had a HORRIBLE time installing, uninstalling and reinstalling FD13 on my Mac. It always crashes about 10 minutes into using it, so if you're not saving, saving, saving, each bloody keystroke, you could lose all your hard work. I think this is more than just a bug. I had troubleshot with both Final Draft and Apple and nothing was resolved. Has anyone else had similar problems with FD13? Speaking for myself, it's a hard pass. Stick with FD12.
I am so sorry you are dealing with that. That blows! Unfortunately I just got FD13 today, I will give it a go and see if I get something similar. I noticed that they did have a new patch for FD13. Take a look and see if there is a patch available as that might fix it. I agree FD12 is so much less of a headache.
Hello, been writing all of my scripts in notes and see its it getting too full. I have only just started looking at screen writing software. which ones would you suggest for me ? / which one do you use yourself ?
It depends on your budget? There are some free ones like Kit Scenarist and a free version of Fade In. It also depends on the features you want. Final Draft does have some good features...especially if you are just buying it. I am not happy with the upgrade. There is also Arc Studio Pro and Writer Duet. What are you looking for in terms of features and budget?
Hi! I'll be getting myself a new Mac later this year and wonder whether it's worth upgrading to FD13 from FD10, which I got offered with a 40% discount now, or is version 13 too much of a headache to work with (in terms of stability etc)? Any experience/advice appreciated.
@@matthias-maze I think it would be worth it more for the updates from 11 and 12. FD 13 doesn't add a lot itself in my opinion. 40 percent off the upgrade is a pretty sweet deal as well. The stability I think is probably not a lot better than 10 but for Mac it tends not to crash as much. I hope that helps and happy happy writing
@@ScreenwritingScribeThanks for your advice! yeah, 11 and 12 updates added more features than 13, just wanted to make sure that 13 is not terribly worse in stability than my 10, which's been running fine on my old High Sierra for years.
superbly scripted! thanks for putting it clearly and also for suggesting positive future developments. meantime: are folks at FD listening after this and other comments on FD 13 Mega-Underwhelming Pseudo-Upgrade?
Thank u, I always think it is important to not just criticize but also brainstorm how to make things better. Unfortunately I don’t think final draft really cares. I have reached out several times to them and all I ever get is silence. Thank for your feedback!

Can you take a look at Causality by Hollywood Camera Work? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks!
Yup it is on my list of videos for this month.
@@ScreenwritingScribe Awesome!
Good insights
Thank you. I wish somebody from Final Draft would engage me in a conversation about it because I think that would help everybody
I'm torn...
