(Read This before you comment!) Just a little heads up for those that couldn't fix the issue: 1. If you have intel graphics it won't work at all! Msi afterburner does not support intel uhd graphics or iris graphics, use intel xtu or oc from your bios. 2. If you have a mobile gpu like an rtx 2060 mobile or radeon mobile chip it won't work becauss laptops have its thermal and voltage limits unlike desktop gpus, so overvolting your laptop will make it run even hotter and kill your battery life faster! 3. Some new gpus like gtx 10 series and up may have its voltage slider hard locked from the manufacturer so try and research if your gpu have a programmable voltage controller 4. If you can't save the file do this: Right click the profile that you used to add the voltage fix and click on properties > click security tab > advanced > on the owner row, click change (it will ask for admin) > enter only your Microsoft email > press ok > press ok again > click edit > make sure to check full control on either administrators or users > press ok Now you should be able to save your profile. Thanks man! I knew there was a 'slider unlock' tweak, but what I didn't know was that my new laptop 4080 was not going to report any voltage through MSI Afterburner until I did this trick. It would just say 0mv at all times.

For me it did not begin working until I also copied over the [Default] section as well as the "Format=2" underneath it. Next I also had to create the [Settings] section because it didn't exist either. After I did that, adding the your suggested line did unlock the slider.
Just type in [Settings] and then place the generic detection command right under it, the easiest way is by making a profile from MSI afterburner and saving it. Then it should appear
I overclocked the 3090 ti, the core clock is 2160 (75 on the afterburner slider) and games in 4k (Red Dead redemption 2) crash after 1-2 minutes of running the card on this frequency. At the same time, the temperatures are good. 53 on gpu. 74 on memory and hotspot. Water-cooled GPU. Aorus Xtreme WaterForce. Would setting the core voltage to 100 help? How dangerous is afterburner warning? Or is this just the maximum for my silicon in the GPU. I just see accelerations of 2175-2200. And my temperatures are good... but that’s it. Power supply, Cougar 1050w seems to have a reserve.
It should be safe because you are only hitting a safe voltage limit, just be mindful of your temperatures even if its quite low. Most noticeably your hotspot.

Hi! I have an Acer Predator Helios i7-10750H CPU, NVIDIA RTX 2060. I've tried doing your 2nd fix, and it only unlocked the core voltage slider (Power & Temp Limit are still locked) 1. Is this because my GPU has its own limits? If not, do you have any other solutions for me? 2. If yes, is there any way I can work my way around it such as changing the available sliders? (I have a problem with my GPU throttling first before my CPU (GPU reaches its throttling temp first before the CPU).
1. Well, since it's a mobile cpu there are going to be limits in place anyways, you can try something like nvidia inspector or throttlestop but i don't know if it still works for that gpu. 2. There may be no work around but since you have the voltage slider unlocked you can attempt to undervolt the gpu which makes it use less power and let it stay cool without a performance hit. You can also try adjusting your laptop's fan speed if available (bios)
@@GameFrostYT Ah, what a shame. I've squeezed everything that I can out of throttlestop but it still shows that my GPU is the one that throttles always. Thanks for the response!

Thanks big time been trying to figure this out for awhile for my 6900XT!
No problem, enjoy your gpu
can i overclock my gpu or cpu i have a intel uhd 630
UHD 630 can only be overclocked in the bios
Thanks a lot really helped me out. Appreciate it :-)
It worked for the core voltage but my power limit is still grayed out, any idea how to fix that?
Im not entirely sure how to fix that one but what is your gpu?
@@GameFrostYT its a gtx 1080 :)
@@thatnoelkid1 you have to flash a compatible vbios that has power limits unlocked though i dont know which one has it. You can try and google it or go to techpowerup's vbios collection
Unfortunately afterburner has changed. Do you have an updated solution?
No not at the moment
Why not working Ⓚ option in msi overclocking
Whats not working?
Msu In options setting
Ammmm u can see on bottom up in msi r u find option Ⓚ/K
@@HardikGamingHD. oh thats kombuster, just a stability tester, you don't need that.
But i need thiss bcz i don't know about my pc stability, performance, power. Otherwise my processor is damaged
can not find the fix in the description
Which fix?
@@GameFrostYT your text file. its not in the description
@@ajgiel I updated the description, thanks.
All settings are grayed out😢 , what to do
What is your gpu?
Does this work for rx 550?
Yes it should
I don’t have cfg, only notepad because my computer is a traditional Alienware Nvidia, Windows 10 computer
You can use notepad to configure the cfg file, all you need to do is right click it if its shown on your folder and modify it using notepad or notepad++, if cfg is not shown you may have to open up msi afterburner and save a profile perhaps.
Or to make it simple don't follow these stupid step guys, work smarter and quicker with me
First turn off ur pc, then turn on back and hold f8
Click troubleshoot
Click startup repair
Click safe mode
Enter safemode
Delete kombustor and afterburner
Shut it down,
Open back, and thats it
And set back ur nvidia experience to low voltage back to normal
Ez right?
Ur welcome
I have rtx 3060 and fan control and voltage is greyed out help me
If your rtx 3060 is a mobile chip (laptop) then i cant really help you there.. You can try installing evga precision oc software or asus tweak.
i have a 1660ri and uhd 630 will it work
the 1660ti will work but the uhd 630 doesnt, that needs to be adjusted either from intel's extreme tuning utility or your bios
temp limit grayed out sapphire rx 5700xt
Try enabling in msi afterburner's options. To be honest the temp limit doesn't do much, as long as your gpu is kept cool it will still retain its boost clocks
Its worked, can you do a video for curve monitor? Thank you❤
Maybe someday but glad it's working for you!
It dosnt work for me, can you help me please??
What is your gpu?
My problem is that everything is greyed out. do you know how to fix
First off, whats your gpu?
Radeon 590 rx series
I already fixxed it myself tho. Still thanks!
@@grillo.145 oh ok! Enjoy your OC!
@@grillo.145 i have the same problem on an rx 6600 how did u fix yours
What about ones with a APU (I think that's what it's called)
You gotta overclock it on your bios or your cpu's software such as intel tuning utility or ryzen master
Just realized it says to download MSI kombustor when i hover over it bruhhh
I have a mobile 3060 can I mess with the voltage on it or no?
No you cant
@@GameFrostYT do any mobile video cards not work with the power limit and temp limit?
@@aidandelgado5065 new mobile chips from 2016 and above may not support voltage or power limit because of heat reasons. But you can try this method out if you are curious
I cant find the [Stettings] line in notepad...
Try and make a profile in msi afterburner and save it.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN BRO
@@GameFrostYT
@@_fifa_fan_673 just type in the [settings] line in notepad, if it's not present. Usually it should be when you first launch msi afterburner.
worked on amd radeon r7 240
for me the note pad is in 1's and 0's
pls help
I dont think thats the right one...
hi i try all the ways to fix my msi afterburner but no one worked : my gpu is a "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600"
You cannot overclock or change voltage on an Intel igpu, you can only do that in the bios IF your PC supports it. You need to buy a new gpu like AMD or Nvidia to change voltage
@@GameFrostYT oh ok what computer that cost under 1000$ with a amd is good for roblox ?
@@xXZaRoXx0 you can try the ABS prebuilts on Newegg!
@@GameFrostYT ok ima check if its good thanks you
Doesn't work for me idk why but when i open the cgf to edit it there is not much there like yours in the vid
Are you sure you changed the security options? Maybe you have to show hidden files tho im not sure
perfect... had 2 profiles to edit with VDDC_Generc_Detection=1
thanks
