I just purchased a Singer Quantum Stylus 9960, and your tutorials are invaluable! Your videos are making my amazing and sincerely appreciated. Thank yous so much!
I’ve had my machine for almost 4 years and never touched it other than taking it out of the box. I finally decided to use it. Thank you so much for answering all of my questions so far. The hardest thing for me to do is making the automatic threader work properly even after watching the video so I usually just do it by hand. Thanks again.
Thank you for these videos. I've had my machine for over a year and have been so scared of it but with your help I'm learning so much and have decided to venture out from the straight and zig zag stitches. :)
Hi Quilting Pieces! The 9970 looked like a nice machine! Congrat's. It's supposed to have several more features, came with an even larger foot package, but operates the same as the 9960. Enjoy!!
I've watched a few of your videos now, and you've got me so excited to try out my new machine! It's such an upgrade over my starter machine and I'm excited to try out it's many features. Thank you for making these helpful and informative videos!
This is great! I have the 9960, and I really don't use these options much as I quilt more than any other type of sewing. I recently got the 9970, which is supposed to be a step up from this machine, but it basically is the same with a new cover. These videos should work with both machines. Now that I've retired, I'm looking forward to spending more time sewing!
hello, Ro will teach you in circles blocks number 16, I attended Darlin present machine in hsn showing possibilities to make several petals forming a flower. I'm loving your videos, I got a machine from my husband and am learning a lot from your videos. tks
Love your tutorials, lol, I've lost count of many times I've needed your tutorials to do a project. Once again I need your help to find a stitch I need. Is there a video that shows how to do ruffles? I can only remember how to do this the old fashion way, long basting stitch then manually pull one thread, gather the fabric to the desired ruffle fullness. Is there a "ruffle stitch"/
They make a special ruffle foot that you can buy separately and use for this, actually. There's two feet that I'm currently aware of anyway. One that does a ruffle at each stitch and can't be adjusted, it's just a one trick pony, and then there's another foot that can be adjusted to create a ruffle at every single stitch, every 6th stitch and at every 12th stitch. There's RUclips videos about it if you wanna check them out. I've been binge watching all kinds of videos on the different feet you can buy recently. Lol I'm getting a new sewing machine and so I'm loading up on all the info I can find! Lol Hope this helps! 🤗
Hi new subbie , thank u for this useful video... I have the singer quantum stylist 9980 , nd even though they are different machines, they have the same lay out ... thank u once again for this information, it's really helpful nd I 've found it a great help ...hugs Collette xx
I had bought this sewing machine on a whim (lol) never sewed a day in my life! left it in the box for a year until i came across your videos, so thank you so much you are truly helping. I do have a question is there a built in lock stitch ? do you need to back stitch or lock stitch with the decorative stitches, i haven't used them
Thanks Vivian! Make sure that your top thread is going through the tensions properly. If that doesn't help, see if there's a piece of thread caught inside the thread path.
Hello Roxanne. I have a question last week I was sewing on my machine and it went a little crazy. The needle started vibrating up and down like it was stuck so I turned it off and then turn it back on and it was sewing but my decorative stitches are now on the bottom and the messy part is on the top same with a straight stitching is the nice part is on the bottom and the loop part is on the top do you have any suggestions for this. Thank you Terry
Hi Terry. If the bobbin side is having an issue, it's typically the top thread not being threaded properly. The shutter could be caused by the top thread being caught, the auto cutter being stuck., the bobbin casing not being inserted properly or an electronics issue. Follow all the normal troubleshooting tips in the manual and those that I've suggested. If you still have issues, call Singer directly for assistance.
Thank yo for these tutorials, I wanted to ask what foot and what needle is best to use to sew stretchy fabric, i also wanted to ask what tension is best to have it on ..thank you
Hi! Love your videos on the Singer 9960 which I'm giving serious consideration. Can you tell me if you receive endorsements or compensation from Singer? Just trying to assess the independence of your evaluations. Thanks!
Hi Pat! No, I receive nothing from Singer. All of my Singer brand machines have been purchase by ME, the info I share is written and produced by ME and my FB Group is run by ME.
Thank you. Roxanne, for the tutorials. I am looking at the 8060 which is suppose to be the same machine with a better price tag. The one question that I have is, does this machine accept double needles? While this is not a deal breaker for me, it's a nice option when you are trying to make very uniformly spaced stitching like around the cuff of a shirt or the front placard.
Hi linganyao! Yes this machine is GREAT for making clothing. I've used this machine on novelty knits, chambray, denim, cotton shirting, and even just made a set of drapes for my dining room. I wouldn't recommend anything too heavy or many many layers for this machine. It's not heavy duty. Good luck!
Hello, I'm new to sewing and I've just received my machine and I'm so confused as to which foot is the B foot. Did it come with the machine or would I have to purchase it separatel?
Sorry pepper, not that I know of. This isn't an embroidery machine, however you can combine several decorative stitches to create an interesting pattern.
I've been looking at this machine for sometime. Love your videos. Can't wait to get one. Is this machine very loud? I have a SE400 Brother. Really want this one to try quilting.
I have a singer 9960, my question is while experimenting with my decorative stitches the machine has started placing the decorative stitches on the back of the fabric. Do you know what would cause this ? Unlike your video my decorative stitches are on the back of my fabric not the front facing me. I'm not sure if I accidentally hit a button that would cause this or what. Thanks for any advice !
Under normal sewing conditions, using recommended thread, needle and 2 layers of fabric the machine has auto tension. If any of those variables change, you may need to adjust tension.
velda carpenter Walking foot comes with the machine and you can quilt straight lines, cross hatch, etc however you CAN NOT use decorative stitching and walking foot at the same time...it’s physically not possible.
Hi Lourdes! Yes you can make a satin stitch on the 9960. Set your machine to do a wide zigzag stitch with a short stitch length. Play with the length and width of the stitch to get the desired satin stitch. Happy Sewing!!
Straight out of the box, followed your videos and the manual, and any attempt at decorative stitches is breaking the thread after 1 or 2 stitches. Not to mention, needle threader will not come around the way it's supposed to. I have a feeling this is going back:-(.
Thank you Roxanne for all your helpful tutorials.
You are so welcome!

Are you seriously asking this? Were the live demonstrations not good enough for you? Smh.
Thank you. Roxanne, for the tutorials. I am looking at the 8060 which is suppose to be the same machine with a better price tag. Nevermind. I just found the video that explains this option. Duh! Thanks again.
You beat me to the reply. Congrat's on your 8060. So pretty! Hope you love it. Happy Sewing!!
Thank you very much.I learn a lot .love love love this machine now.do you think this machine is good to making clothes? for example some think fabric?
Hi linganyao! Yes this machine is GREAT for making clothing. I've used this machine on novelty knits, chambray, denim, cotton shirting, and even just made a set of drapes for my dining room. I wouldn't recommend anything too heavy or many many layers for this machine. It's not heavy duty. Good luck!
Yes, it is so informative and I am going to try the double embroidery thread for a design. Do you use embroidery thread in the bobbin also?
I just bought my machine recently and if your doing decorative sewing on denim will the fusible material work good on denim?
I would test it out first to make sure it works the way you want. Denim is great to do deco stitching on.
Thank you so much.
Hi Santa! You're welcome!
Hello, I'm new to sewing and I've just received my machine and I'm so confused as to which foot is the B foot. Did it come with the machine or would I have to purchase it separatel?
Hi Kiwan. It's the clear plastic foot. It should have come with your machine.
@@RoxanneStitches Yes, I've found it. Thank you!
Sorry pepper, not that I know of. This isn't an embroidery machine, however you can combine several decorative stitches to create an interesting pattern.
Can you please show a free motion quilting video and show stitch length of free motion quilting. Thanks you
I've been looking at this machine for sometime. Love your videos. Can't wait to get one. Is this machine very loud? I have a SE400 Brother. Really want this one to try quilting.
Is there a trick to getting the mirror image to match? Mine always seem to be off and they look bad.
Hi Laura! I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the decorative stitches? Could you send me a photo? Thanks
Hi, how can you make the letters or numbers bigger when sewing? Like monogramming with the quantum 9960? Thanks, Ester
Hi ester. The letter and number stitches are pre-programed into the machine and can not be enlarged.
I am learning step by step with your tutorial. But my machine is constantly jamming. i got really frustrated. how to adjust the thread tension ?
Hi klara. You shouldn't need to adjust the thread tension. Make sure the machine is threaded properly and the bobbin is installed correctly.
Do you have anything on tension
Under normal sewing conditions, using recommended thread, needle and 2 layers of fabric the machine has auto tension. If any of those variables change, you may need to adjust tension.
Can you make a pattern of these decorative stitches that will work in memory, like you can with the stitches you access with the abc button? Thanks.
Hi knittysong. The 9960 does not have the capability to save patterns.
can you enlarge the picture stitches like the dog?
No, the dog isn't able to be edited.
Hello! Do you know whether or not this machine is compatible with your computer for more stitching patterns options?
I bought this machine from HSN. now I misplaced my book, is there an online version where I can print it out ?
You can download a free pdf manual from Singerco.com
Could I use the walking foot and the decorative stitches to quilt?
velda carpenter Walking foot comes with the machine and you can quilt straight lines, cross hatch, etc however you CAN NOT use decorative stitching and walking foot at the same time...it’s physically not possible.
Does this machine have a satin stitch for applique?
Hi Lourdes! Yes you can make a satin stitch on the 9960. Set your machine to do a wide zigzag stitch with a short stitch length. Play with the length and width of the stitch to get the desired satin stitch. Happy Sewing!!
