Haha I just got into Mayer recently been a drummer for four years and I make those same type of faces when I play drums as I do playing guitar now haha. My friends are always like “Why do you do that?” I’m just feeling the music and my face is showing it haha.

John always knows how to have some fun. He has really grown in to someone who does what feels right to him and not pander to what others might think or say about him.

It’s kinda weird. John has one of the deepest pockets when he plays guitar but I felt like he rushing the beat a bit on drums. Obviously that all changed when the pocket king SJ took back over

John owns dozens of guitars. He certainly had a PRS phase but always goes back to the Strat.

@@nick_hess dozens? Way more than dozens bro. And he’s phasing out Fender strats now, he plays a Charvel sometimes but otherwise plays a PRS exclusively.

Samuel Betts It's probably because he still wants to hear the live stage without having to mic the whole stage, many musicians only use one out of two iems :)
Jules Darmon Im pretty sure that the whole stage is already mic'd up so... But yea he just wants to feel the atmosphere
I think it's mainly there to monitor his singing. He seems to enjoy the live environment, but maybe wants to be more accurate with in ear monitors than when he's having to depend his pitch on standard floor monitors.

Always so frustrated when I watch JM: he can play almost like SRV if he wants to, but keeps releasing lounge music
Think about it like this; I'm a musician as well and I enjoy to play real heavy stuff like Gojira and Kyuss but I prefer to play what I feel the most which is just a mix of R&B, blues, jazz and hip hop. John loves SRV just like many do but it's not the music he hears in his head. He plays what moves him despite what his influences might be

mekkemusic He just evolved! Continuum has a lot pf SRV feel. But who knows what SRV himself would have been playing at 40? He might have taken the time to play more soulful slow music as well?!!
We don't need a SRV clone. John has his own niche in music, and he fulfills it extremely well.
+Michael Collins he does let it rip and you would know that if you've been to his concert and seen the trio perform. But he also loves the emotion and feel put into his other music which I respect
