3rd grade choir learned this. Heard is last Sunday, almost brought a tear to my eye. Such an absolutely beautiful song. By far my favorite choral number. Very well done.
I belong to an Episcopal church in Essex Junction, Vermont USA. I had gotten to church early a few Sundays ago, and the choir (14 members, all pretty elderly) rehearsed this. Well! I was bawling my eyes out, it was so beautiful! So,I thought okay, that's over and done with and I will just enjoy the anthem in the regular service. But no......I cried again! Most anything of John Rutter makes me cry!!!! (I'm just a 73 year old softie, alumni of the Oberlin College Choir in Ohio, USA). I only would say.....if the men were spaced out in the back row, this version might have been an "eeence" better....they are all magnificent, the tenors and the basses, and tend, in this case, to take over a little bit, though it may have also been a function of where the microphones were placed. All in all, gorgeous!!!
Aw, we sang this when I was in tenth grade (eh, 3 or so years ago) We had elementary school kids sings sing the verses and the High Schoolers sing the Chorus. It was very beautiful. This is amazing.
cool song i love it i mean we love it we choirs,in S.D.A. elementary school we just sing that in Jan.29,2011 in Saturday night i am so exiting.and this is my favorite song.
Hi there, Thanks for that. We're not on tour, no :) We just get together on Sunday mornings, quickly rehearse the hymns for that day, the anthem, introit for that morning...and then if we have time, have a look at the one for the week after! Often we are quite under rehearsed....but we have a reasonable number of people with quite alot of choral singing experience and so we can get things together quite fast, even if the end result isn't quite as 'secure' or crafted as I might like sometimes!
Oh wow... so beautiful! Makes me want to move to Edinburgh! I'd even start celebrating Jesus again just so that I could come listen to you! Even better yet... to sing with you! It's been a treat listening to you at any rate... I'm sharing you with my facebook buddies. Maybe there will be an influx of visitors from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA?
Thanks so much for recording this beautiful performance and sharing it with us. Our church choir is about the same size as yours. You give us hope for continuing. We'll be singing "Look at the World" for our Thanksgiving Service later this year. My compliments to director and accompanist and vocalists!
@davidvivanco Heel mooi! Earlier tonight, our choir in Amsterdam started on this piece, our second Rutter song after "All Things Bright And Beautiful." Director just sent us the link to you. I find it extremely inspiring to see you at rehearsal and recognize a lot. Our choir is about the same size yours is, a bit older, but with similar voices and attitudes (vid.infra :-)) I'll be back to hear you many times, your version will be an important study guide. Many thanks from a happy bass singer!
How many members does your choir has? For a rather small group, you did quite a great job, and I can clearly hear the balance between SATB. Our choir is also practising this. It's always great to know that the same song (and arrangement) is performed all over the world. One of the proofs that our God is great.
Very nice. Especially since you guys don't rehearse that often. The guys are amazing. The one thing I wish is that you guys paid attention to the dynamics (the 3rd chorus is supposed to be piano).
Yes well, there are different styles of choral music which cater for a variety of tastes :) Not everyone loved this piece of music, as you can witness by our 'pin-up' tenor's hands-in-pockets attitude and smirks at the other tenor from time to time - that said....if you just take it in the spirit meant, I think you can still enjoy it :)

I love, love, LOVE John Rutter's music, and you all sing it VERY well, the harmonies are so rich and beautiful.
I enjoy seeing a group of people of various ages. I have been in different groups, and the mixed age groups are the ones I find the most fulfilling.

this is the best 'not professional' recording of al the 'look at the worlds' on You tube..

Just found this, Great.
Very nice. It's a lovely song that doesn't seem to be well know over here. At least I've very seldom heard it. Thanks for posting it.
No need to apologize vivanco, this was beautiful and the sound brought warmth and perpetuated sweet tune and melody in my ear. Bravo!
