Dude I know this is a couple years old but luckily I stumbled across it and you need to do more videos . Imo most experienced Engineers are awesome but they don't know how to teach and think that inexperienced learners like myself know more than we do so they skip the very basic parts which is what we are here to learn. You are the only one so far that explained parallel compression in a way that I not only understand but you showed me how to route it in logic and blend it in while keeping other channels at a minimum. Some of these guys doing videos are very good engineers but they have no clue how to teach. Pat yourself on the back man !
this is gold! I'm just getting back into music production after 15 years away from it and it's these subtle techniques that were missing from my tracks back then. the way you teach is a great balance of detail and speed. No waffle, but not skimming over the crucial info. Thanks!
what in the Steely Dan is this song?! Beautiful tutorial! You are the ONLY person i've found on YT that explains parallel compression for drums so simply and understandably. Thank you!
Great demonstration thanks ! I just wanted to add that it would be more suited to make the bus going for parallel com in Pre Fader, so that changes in volume fader won't affect the overall result
Oh ma , great vid. You know what you're doing and it's great. and were those drums and keys/band live? it has a nice live feel, but good mic placement.
Yo This video you showed us today is a very dope illustration of how New York Compression a.k.a parallel compression really works , smoking a Joint; I was vibing just taking notes from this great JEWEL that you shared. Keep up the great work I'm a definitely a Fan.
Thanks Nev! Yeah the SSL G-master Buss Compressor I used in the video is by Waves, although there are many 3rd party options for the same style plug-in. But actually Logic Pro’s compressor plug-in has a “Vintage VCA” mode which is based off of the SSL Buss Compressor, so you can apply the same technique with that!

Thank you for a straightforward tutorial!
Great demonstration thanks !

Dig ur style! Tnx for ur wiew, for a time I was "rear" comping the hole drum bus. Tried this way and got clarities for sure. : ))
I love your pace and teaching style!

Glad you dug it! 🙏
thanks for a solid vid. I finally understand it!
Great tutorial, thank you
Thanks Jake that was a really cool way to describe PC. I take it that SSL is not a Logic stock Compressor?
Cheers Jake

Thank for Jake. Much appreciated.
This is super cool!
