I was thinking the same thing. But then I realized that it really is a new thing to NYC. Normally a large dumpster is shared or they just put bags on the curb

I pay $16 a month for 1 recycling and 1 regular rolling g-can. The county pays for the recycling and no fines. Why don't you take out the real trash, the i.i.s.

@john_wick1 When I was a kid, they were used. The old tin ones. Which were probably would be better than the new plastic ones.

Oh wow thats crazy. Keep up with the times New York.. omg. Like wow.. over twenty years weve had trassh cans then bins. Thats crazy that your now just getting them. Do t they selk them like at hone depot or lowes. Wierd.
So all building with 9 or more units can still just use trash bags. That is most of the island of Manhattan. Not to mention that most of the city live in the larger apartments. This is just a cash grab from home owners and small building owners.
They just learning to put their garbage in a trash can?
I appreciate the efforts but those bins are too small for multi family. If we already have trash bins with lids, we should not be penalized in 2026 and be forced to buy new ones. More money for us to spend on. Not everyone can afford to buy new trash bins.

If the major/governor prioritize the funds (not on illegal immigrants), this wouldn't happen.

Since the city will be making money off these bins can you also tell your sanitation workers not to throw the bins around breaking the top and/or since they all look the same throw them in our neighbors’ yard. That’s 150$ for the three, can you give us debit cards like you give out free money to non taxpayers asking for my neighbor

What... They do not have trash cans. What!!! No thats crazy. Omg. What. We' ve in Oregon has akways had them.. What. This us crazy. How did New Yorkers ger rid of there trash before. Here the bins come with trash service but if you dont pay your bill they take them away.
