It holds significance in the Ramayana, as Lord Ram, Lakshman, and Sita are said to have visited this place during their exile.

Fortifications: The fort has strong stone fortifications with bastions and walls. The climb is mostly on carved rock steps.
Rock-Cut Caves: Ankai is known for its Buddhist rock-cut caves, similar in architecture to those found in Ajanta and Ellora. These caves are believed to date back to the 2nd century BCE.
Water Cisterns and Reservoirs: The fort has several water tanks and cisterns, ensuring a steady supply of water for its inhabitants in the past.
Temples: There are temples dedicated to Hindu gods, including a Kalika Mata Temple and a Jain Temple. These are simple but historically significant structures within the fort premises.
The Trek to Ankai Fort:

Views: Once at the summit, you can enjoy stunning 360-degree views of the Deccan plateau and the town of Manmad below. The area is surrounded by hills, giving a sense of the fort's importance in guarding the region.
