Re:Zero is my favorite isekai, main reason being that Subaru is probably one of the most well-written MCs of his genre. He actually has flaws to work through, and he has to overcome conflicts that are actually complicated.
You should also give Western isekai a shot too. Unlike with Japanese isekai, nearly all the isekai I've seen from the west is GOATED. "The Owl House", "Amphibia", "Infinity Train", "Over the Garden Wall" are peak isekai.

My favorite isekai was I am a Spider, So What? But I lost interest in the story as the ending just … didn’t work for me, don’t get me wrong the rest of the story is still great but that ending really made me not enjoy the story as much as I did beforehand.
Now as for my current favorite isekai it goes to The Executioner and Her Way of Life. I know some people got turned off by how it starts as they felt baited the same way Talentless Nana tricked watchers (I actually like that anime/manga too) or that it was a yuri. It is a bit funny to me since unlike Nana in which even the promotional videos and stuff would indeed trick people into believing the show was about something else well… Shokei Shoujo never really tricks the audience. For one thing the trailers, the summaries, the promotional art, even the title and first seconds already tell you everything. They never truly hid anything. Yes it does shock the audience that the person who truly didn’t do anything wrong gets immediately killed, Menou isn’t happy about her killing of the poor boy. There’s no arrogance and no hatred of her towards the boy, heck she even calls herself the “villain” as that is what she is to not only the isekai’d people but to the audience. The world is one that I’m so invested in, they explain why they speak Japanese, they have trains, they have guns, prosthetic limbs, and many other things that people that got isekai’d brought over and affected said world, not only the things that they brought were positive of course. Since going back to why Menou plays the “villain” is because all and I mean ALL isekai’d people are literal time bombs. We think that may be them overreacting and just using excuses into killing people but they do SHOW US multiple times how isekai’d people that lose themselves to their Concepts become from a city level to a continental if not world level dangers. Which is why they cannot be left alone as it is a destiny that will happen eventually to all isekai’d people even when not using their Concepts it will still corrupt them eventually. So we have institutions made to deal with said dangers. There’s no such thing as a Demon Lord, no elves, no goblins, no dwarfs… I love that they made their own race as the beings that reside in the Mechanical Society, though there’s “demons” though those fall more into the cosmic horror side of things as they’re tied to the Concept of Original Sin and they’re not just a natural thing. Yes I read the novels which is why I am so invested into it, the anime only covers 2 volumes out of 9 (currently). The English translation is up to volume 8 right now and I can’t wait for more. The characters are great as well and more complex than one might initially think, for Menou her development is a rather subtle one that isn’t in one’s face immediately, but it is one of the best I have read as I love to see her not only question the world but also herself and how she grows into finding her own way of life and the desire to live. For Akari she might be seen as just a ditzy girl who seems overly attached to Menou for no reason but that’s further from the truth, she is also very complex and there is a legitimate reason as to why she is so fixated to Menou which goes beyond of just what we see on the surface (as for what we see in the anime). I could talk about other characters specially two that I adore completely that didn’t appear in the anime but they appear later on the story. I love how the world was reshaped by the chaos made by the Four Major Human Errors that literally almost destroyed the world in the past, and some crazy locations that we see specially one that reminds me of the Hollow Earth on the Monsterverse. The anime barely scratches the surface… and it makes me so sad that the anime is so underrated… I didn’t even talk about the very complex magic systems it has as there’s Guiding Light and the Concepts that isekai’d people use, and how they get implemented in the story. I love that they don’t use the game systems like other isekai nor levels or lazy things. It’s such a well thought out world … with lots of mysteries as well. I love the pacing of the story as it isn’t slow at all, so much is always happening and it never feels rushed. I love the darker aspects since the main cast lives on the underworld of the world (as in they work things from the dark) we get to of course see the bad things that happen, it isn’t just something random or edgy for being edgy, but it’s just how that broken world works in the shadows. I also like the comedy because oh boy there’s so much specially later on and it works so well I would be laughing my ass off. If it were just some edgy story they would have stupid characters doing stupid things without any sort of thought into them and how they relate to each other. But they all work so well together that some of my favorite things are just seeing characters interacting with each other (specially ones I absolutely NEVER expected to see together) and it all works just so good and naturally. I do not expect more seasons… I don’t even expect many people to even give it a chance specially since people just see the start and get upset about the story and drop it immediately. Anyway I could ramble on and on about how great the novels are or even the anime was quite decent as an adaptation, it doesn’t matter how original the story is since I already know people will drop it from having the first guy die and not be mc and also because it’s a yuri. I guess I’ll hold onto this hidden gem and hope it doesn’t get axed … also I love that Menou is strong and capable but she’s not the strongest, heck she’s gets her ass beat a bunch of times in the story and usually when she does win is because of actually planning things or/and because someone else helps her out.
    Thanks for the video! :)

@@siborgyoshi8510the anime ends where volume 2 ends which is very open ended … it makes me sad since I know we won’t get more seasons so people end up being forced into reading the novels (I am up to date with the novels though)
