I am looking forward to the day I have enough of those federal reserve notes to trade for the exact same beautiful guitar you are demonstrating here. I am working on it!
the beginning of the video cracked me up! I also just picked up my 000 - 18 from the guys over at Island guitar , great staff over there, and I couldn't be happier with the guitar
I really like your review and the story you’ve put around it… like the way you’re making us feel like you haven’t try the guitar in the store before to buy it and you waited to be home to play it the first time. Anyway, I liked it and I not only I think the guitar sounds awesome but I think you’re playing very well. Cheer!
You prolly dont give a damn but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Vincent Miller I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You cannot 😊go wrong w an 18 no matter what size! I'm a HOG dude. Love it! And the older we get those 00, 000 feel good on the couch! Of course love Dreads too❤ God bless Martin guitars 🎸
Wow, Dick! I just stumbled over one of your videos after not seeing you in what looks like 7 years... note my post right below! I hope you are alive and well and still picking!
I own a' 69 000-18 and LOVE it. I play it live but refuse to modify it by installing a pickup. For this reason, I use the IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic Stage system, which sounds fabulous, but can lead to feedback at gig volume. I'd buy a new one as a second and install a pickup, but I hate the new skinny necks on current 000-18's. My '69 has a great, fat V neck. The remedy? I recently played a 000-42. WOW! Perfect guitar. Pricey, but the feel and sound is worth it.
Great catch Dick! All I can say is that you don't have to buy a vintage Martin to get that same similar sound of a growl and bite in one of the lot of these Martin made acoustics. Spotted the same likeness that sound's like yours on a D-18 just recently which is in the shop for a first time buyer complimentary set up and the works.Congrats!
Your playing skills are clearly as exceptional as your negotiating skills! The look on your face when you walked out with it was priceless- well "played" sir, well played! I think this will be my next guitar. Do you favor it over the D28, HD-28, D-18? Those were my other options but I prefer the shorter scale- provided the sound trade off (Bass) isn't too bad.
Excellent review you have here Sir. Yeah Mahogany really sounds great paired with Sitka here. As what I had expected for the sound, I have a similar sounding guitar.
thesame from me friend , i'm from belgium. i played an om28 but i saw your very wise video and that guitar and i ordered imediatly the 000-18 thanks for playing it, take care. andre
I first learned to play on a '71 000-18. So I bought the (redesigned) 2014. I loved it, but it lacked the headroom to handle an aggressive attack. I know, I know. It's not designed for heavy strumming. Anyway, I traded it for a 000-18 GE 1937. One isn't better than the other. Just different.
Great playing. Can you help me decide between a D-18 and a 000-18? I tried, and loved the D-18 at GC tonight...but it was a big bulky. I could feel the base which was great. Will a 000-18 be a big sacrifice or will I get adjusted to it? Also, thoughts on the 000-16- it's not MOH, which I have come to love. I know- it's subjective and there is no right or wrong. Still, would appreciate hearing the thoughts of anyone who has played both. I can get the D-18 for about $2k. Price is not my main concern, but I will pay more for the 000. Thanks!
Loved the video! I just picked up one of these guitars used , can't wait to get it in my hands. Not sure if your analysis of monetary policy is spot on though (there are definitely times - like in 2008 - when printing money is a very good thing to do!)
great playing and congrats on the cool guitar. but the month you recorded this video there was negative one tenth of a percent inflation. QE3 stopped 5 months prior at the end of Oct 2014.
Sounds perfect! This is my dream guitar and I'm saving for one. I was just wondering, compared to the Dreadnaughts, is the difference in volume bothering you in any way? Another question, what strings did you use there?
Dick, my 1971 000-18 has a brazilian rosewood bridgeplate & has a darker tone than your new girl & what a voice that new girl has....loud & punchy!!! Congrats again pal!!!
"Printing greenbacks out of thin air with nothing to back them up." Not only have you managed to politicize guitar buying, you also demonstrate your ignorance about the Federal Reserve System. If you consider the GNP of the entire USA "nothing", then yeah, I guess you are right... NOT.
It's considerably more complicated than that. If you actually care: Borrowing is debt, not money supply... money supply is a function of GDP and debt... debt as a % of GDP is a good indicator of national economic health. Here is a cool website for a bunch of past/current and high/low economic indicators (tradingeconomics.com/united-states/government-debt-to-gdp )... it is worth taking time to study and understand it. Our current Debt/GDP is about 105%... 80-100% is a healthy range, we are in pretty good shape... on the website look at the chart comparing US debt to other countries.
Anonymous: I know enough to know the USA is not an empty economic vessel, rather the strongest economic machine the world has ever known. That is my point, and I think it is well made.
Man seeing your reaction takes me back to the first day I played my OOO-18! It just brings a smile to my face every time I strum a chord.
I am looking forward to the day I have enough of those federal reserve notes to trade for the exact same beautiful guitar you are demonstrating here. I am working on it!
what i like about these reviews is the fact you really appreciate what you have , i think the000 is my fave of your ventures

@Vincent Miller it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
@Curtis Juelz glad I could help :D
I LOVE MY 00018
these are wonderful wonderful guitars
CONGRATS!!
After getting my new d28 I decided after watching this demo the 00018 is my next guitar. Love your channel Hawaii dude.
You cannot 😊go wrong w an 18 no matter what size! I'm a HOG dude. Love it! And the older we get those 00, 000 feel good on the couch! Of course love Dreads too❤ God bless Martin guitars 🎸
Love your intro! Looking at one of these right now.
Happy for you!!! Congrats
Light gauge Martin Lifespan. I use medium gauge on my dreadnoughts, especially the D-28. But light gauge strings are the way to go on a 000-18.
Delightful video.. I enjoyed living vicariously through you just now. Thinking about getting one of these bad boys.
sounds so full and rich! very nice playing too.
I have a 1959 000-18, plays like butter, mahogany records well too.
Gee Gnome mine is a 68!! great guitars!!
Wow, Dick! I just stumbled over one of your videos after not seeing you in what looks like 7 years... note my post right below! I hope you are alive and well and still picking!
Bought one today. My best sounding Martin to date. Wow!

Loved your video and the humour. The guitar sounds wonderful. I used to own a 1940 Martin 000-18 and liked the shorter scale.

Love seeing your joy, man. I have two Martins and get the same face! Might have to get me a 000-18 too!

mahogany and short scales are a match made in heaven.
Excellent review you have here Sir. Yeah Mahogany really sounds great paired with Sitka here. As what I had expected for the sound, I have a similar sounding guitar.
Got one ordered/ Thanks for posting helped with my decision. It was tough between it and a CEO-7.
Tony Mallia I also chose the 000-18 a couple of years ago. I didn't like the V neck on the CEO7. Love the OOO18
This is just a beautiful, nice, and warm sounding guitar - I have one and played a few Fingerstyle on my channel👍🏻
Sounds fantastic! Nice playing, too!
Beautiful! Sounds Great!! Great Playing!!…May I ask what strings you went with?🤔👏👏
Great intro! Even better video
That pack of hundred dollar bills… I mean, federal reserve notes😂 I love this guy!😂

Sounds pretty good for flatpicking. What strings did they put on the the 000-18?
Woof . . I love it!
What year is the guitar? What is the nut width? Sounds great! Is it the standard 00018 or vintage?

Dick, my 1971 000-18 has a brazilian rosewood bridgeplate & has a darker tone than your new girl & what a voice that new girl has....loud & punchy!!! Congrats again pal!!!

Is it me or does this dude look like James Taylor with hair and a stache?
you should have got the moulded case with that guitar...That's what my triple o came in. ??
Bought one today and it had the same case--not molded.
what kind of strings you use my friend?
Congratulations 😆
Adirondack spruce top?
Sitka
Well when you put it that way I should probably run out and exchange as much of that worthless green paper for as many valuable guitars as I can!
Is "valuable commodity" an oxymoron?
What strings and gauge do you have on this guitar?
🇨🇦💯👍
Wouldn’t trade mine for anything,
Your worse, no, just the same as me, good brother hood, though! Nice ax by the way! Oh yea, play well nough tooo.
Is he really a legit guitar demoer oops

Technically, I think we're just borrowing the money from the Chinese and other foreigners when they buy US government bonds.
It's considerably more complicated than that. If you actually care: Borrowing is debt, not money supply... money supply is a function of GDP and debt... debt as a % of GDP is a good indicator of national economic health. You're a great example of knowing "just enough to be dangerous." Take a bunch of university-level economics courses; you need them.

So what
what kind of strings you use my friend?
