I found that Storm Maul 2nd hit is cancellable with DragonSlam, making the unprotected window extremely short. Engage with HexSlam > Shift LMB 1hit > Shift RMB 1hit > RMB > W+RMB 1hit > S+E DragonSlam > S+LMB > Shift+F Initial HexSlam is interchangeable with Grab, if this is the case, the mid combo CC can be replaced with HexSlam to give even more protection.

I would rec switch to pre awaken if u on low hp.. Use shift Q shield to regen hp and +50% DR for 5s
considering this class basically has 2 awakenings then yes, you dont really need pre.
