Yamashita Park (山下公園) is a scenic waterfront park located in Yokohama, Japan. It was created in the aftermath of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, transforming the devastated area into a open green space with 750 meters (0.4 miles) promenade that offers stunning views of Yokohama Bay. The park is home to Future of Rose Garden or Mirai-no-baraen in Japanese. This garden showcases over 160 species of roses and opens every spring and autumn. The park also features a variety of monuments and memorials, including the Indian Water Fountain, which commemorates the Indian victims of the earthquake and the assistance provided by the Japanese community. Visitors can also explore the NYK Hikawa Maru, a historic ocean liner turned museum, showcasing interiors from the 1930s and offering a glimpse into the luxurious travel of the past. The nearby Yokohama Marine Tower provides a panoramic view of the city and the bay from its observatory.
