اللغة الآرامية كانت لغة رسمية عند امبراطوريات لم تكن آرامية الثقافة والهوية كعادة كل اللغات الرسمية الاخرى. كما انها استخدمت كلغة مراسلات وتدوين عند شعوب لم تكن ارامية ولم تكن تتحدثها كلغة ام. واستخدمت كلغة دينية مقدسة عند اقوام لم تعتبر نفسها آرامية.
Aramaic was an official language of empires that were not Aramaic culture and identity as is the custom of all other official languages. It was also used as a language of correspondence and codification by peoples who were not Aramaic and did not speak it as a mother tongue. It was used as a sacred religious language by people who did not consider themselves Aramaic.
