Yes it is the classic Ford vs Chevy and Kenworth vs Peterbilt debate...Having had 2 Peterbilts before I can admire the pros/cons of each with a slight lean towards the KW side.
As mentioned in the other reply I am sure it is somewhere around 19K. I have never checked the tag or even weighed it. It is not something that is a concern to me as I pull my own trailers and most loads are less than 25K.
Such a beautiful truck ruined by that ugly APU condenser on the back of that sleeper. If it was up to me I definitely would have mounted it on the back for APU.
I agree with your assessment somewhat. The dealer sent the truck to ThermoKing for the installation prior to me picking up the unit. I did have a discussion with them about having it configured as you suggested since I had seen other trucks done that way, so I knew it was possible. I do recall recall getting some resistance about that, not sure if it was from KW or TK and I opted to not push back too hard since it wasn't something that was high on my concern list and so that's how it will be mounted...gonna get the stainless cover for it though. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I just saw this on another video the condenser mounted on the back of the APU unit. Some people are concerned about a tire blow out possibly taking the condenser out.
150,000 miles into its journey with no major issues. Only concerns have been engine related pertaining to premature clogging of the secondary fuel filter (Which is a common problem with the X15 apparently) and injector misfires which have also been addressed. Other than that it has been doing the job it is meant to do.
Cummins X15 565 HP 1850 Torque / 18 speed Eaton Manual Transmission / 3.36 Rear End Ratio / 283" Wheelbase / Low Pro 24.5 Tires / Standard MHC dealer specs...purchased off the dealer lot.
197,000 Miles Tracked to Date / 5100 Engine Hours / Operating Speed Range: 60 - 65 mph / Average Fuel Economy: 6.41 mpg / Trailer: 53' Dry Van / 48 State Operation. I have had 30 day averages over the course of those 197k miles as high as 7.45 and as low as 5.71. It just depends on where in the country I was operating and load weights.

Both the W900 and the 389 are just short of 19K, so you need light loads or spread axle trailers.
