That is a very strange translation at 1:31. To substitute an idiom for a word which can be directly translated is probably bad practice. I'd soon write "He who exalts himself shall be humbled / He who is humble shall be exalted." as that is more literal, and the French is clearly a reference to 23rd chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew.
Yes, but in the movie it's the Edith Piaf's version, where the main "ça ira" is "ah ça ira les aristocrates à la lanterne" et "ah ça ira les aristocrates on les pendra" (the two last in this version)
We must update the lyrics to keep this song alive to new generations. I suggest: "Ah, ça ira, / ça ira, / ça ira. / Les politiciens à la lanterne. / Ah, ça ira, / ça ira, / ça ira. / Les politiciens, on les pendra."
This seems to be a weird mix of two different versions of "Ca ira" produced at two very different points of La Revolution. The first half seems to be from around 1791, when the nobility and clergy was still around but were beginning to renounce their wealth and privilege (often reluctantly). General Lafayette was still in power at this point and quite popular. The second half of the song is from around 1793 or 1794. By this point, Lafayette was blamed for the massacre on the Champs de Mars and had fled France to save himself from his date with Madame Guillotine, he ended up in an Austrian prison. The nobles had largely fled France in fear, and many remaining nobles and priests were being persecuted and killed.
Their are multiple versions of the song. I believe this is the original version , theirs also a more crude version singing about torturing aristocrats and calling Antonette a slave.
Gojira sent me.

Oh if only the people at the Olympics understood this song and the context around it…
I mean the french know what it means, but a lot of english speakers on twitter are freaking out because they don't understand 😮💨
@casuallystalled Though the New York Times actually did write about Gojira!
They literally had it sing by the beheaded corpse of Marie Antoniette and from the balcony of the Palace where she was sentenced to the guillotine...

Welcome fellow gojira fans into the world of french revolutionary music, anyone fancies a baguette?
this is such a French bop
Im happy that people are discovering this incredible music after Gojira in Olympic Games
Ça ira!🇨🇵🇧🇷
funny how youtube recommends me this like, two days after the uk riots
Pov: ur crush told u to treat her like a queen
If you know how the whole revolution thing turned out, this song begins to sound like the first version of "It is fine" meme.
Well, if you started with Robespierre and ended with Napoleon, I think it would be a good improvement... taking that in account
The revolution lived,
The revolution lives,
The revolution will live on.
Who sings this version?
Jacques gatieur
Ah la France mon préféré pays dans le monde avant l’Iran
AH ÇA IRA, ÇA IRA 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
1:59 very French lol
French revolution time VE LIVE FRANCE 🇫🇷
AH ÇA IRA, ÇA IRA ÇA IRA! ✊🔥🇫🇷
Gojira's version should be the 21st Century version of said song!
This is different from caira caira song that Gojira plays, the first line doesn't have 'aristocrats' word.
i remember it going like
Ah! Ca ira (2x) 'Les aristocrates a la lanterne!' Ah! Ca ira! (2x) 'Les Aristocrates on les pendra
Their are multiple versions of the song. I believe this is the original version , theirs also a more crude version singing about torturing aristocrats and calling Antonette a slave.
Why do you think Emmanuel Macron went to “isolate” himself at La Lanterne castle that refers to the song's lantern? He never came out alive.
Le monde avant et après Gojira 😮

What an ugly clownish repetitive tune. It literally sounds like a joke, which the "revolution" was.
