- Do not over pressure the boiler with too hot of a fire.

Well, that's exciting.
IMHO, excitement is often uncomfortable and/or downright dangerous.
I was real busy... for just a few seconds. :-)
I had never heard of this steam engine, thank you for sharing

Great safety tip, keep the fire smaller. Glad you were not hurt! Assume you will re-shoot this with a smaller fire and slightly slower speed. :-)
I wonder why this is not used in vehicle today. Looks extremely efficient
Steady as you go Sir!!!
Looks like a filming job for the Slo-Mo Guys.
Living in the steam age couldn't have been easy
superheated steam is flammable
Superheated Steam is not flammable. It cannot burn on its own. Under the right circumstances, it may cause something else to ignite.
That was a public service message ..thanks
I am into Lanterns. I am thinking I might use a small tank and burner from one of them that way the flame is adjustable as you go
Need a throttle/governor on that bad boy.
A variable flame would be nice.
At least this proves that the relief valve works!
outlet openings too small
What a kool steam.....nebber mind!
Yikes. My luck, I would've tried to grab that hot spinning top.
Fortunately, it wasn't the first time I've had something blow up on me... or even the third or fourth... :-)

Did the plunger fly off because of the steam pressure?
The fire was to large. When the water was almost gone, the large fire could create steam faster than it could escape the three jet nozzles. This created too much pressure inside the boiler and the plunger was pushed out.
This a model one can purchase?
Look at the description for this video?
Most engines I have reviewed can be purchased by clicking on the link found in the video description.

over pressure or unbalanced device?
Good question(s). A lot of these engines do not come with instructions. This one warned about overfilling the boiler. Finding the optimal size fire was trial and error. As the boiler spins, centrifugal force pushes the water toward the sides. Reflected heat, heats the alcohol burner and contributes to the fire becoming larger. As it starts to run out of water, it suddenly starts to produce more steam as the thickness of the water layer decreases and the fire becomes larger. With a fire which is much too large, it produced steam faster than the three jets could release it. A lot of spinning mechanisms experience harmonic vibration and testing and experience dictate safe operation speeds. Going through a second harmonic (shaking) and the increased steam pressure both contributed to the stopper blowing out. This boiler seems fairly well balanced, but the flimsy single wire support frame has too much flex. Clamping it in the vise was a rigid solution. The demonstration video was shot after the "What Not To Do" video. This is actually a fun little engine to play with. Thanks for watching!
Ouch! 😖 Is it demaged? Can you repair the jets?
Surprisingly it hit mostly on the boiler and did not bend anything. The main demonstration video was shot after this one so you can see it spins true.
@@RonaldWalters2010 Coool! 😃👍
It would have been hilarious if you screamed on camera
Scream or curse? .... .... and that is where video editing comes into play. I try to maintain a clean channel. :-)
