This was beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I lived in Hawaii for 3 years and I feel like i'd left a little piece of my soul there. my friend made me a beautiful Haku lay and I will never forget it. I kept it till it fell apart. now I'm trying to make a Haku lay style wreath for my wall. To remind me of all my beautiful memories there.
Mahalo for the new video! I love lei and haku lei though I've never made one myself since i always wondered how I could make one that could fit around my afro but thanks to the tutorial, I'm definitely going to have to try! I'll do it just with greens first and then try with flowers another time!
Aloha, I'm Jade the new subscriber to your channel! I love Hawaii so much and I love these crafts you made, it's so beautiful! Great video and have a wonderful day as well!
Beautiful haku! 🌸🌺🌼 I enjoyed your tutorial! I actually watched 3 other tutorials, but your video was the BEST!! Very explanatory! I like how you showed the details up close. It was very helpful to visually show step by step while explaining instructions (some videos don’t do this). It was so easy learning from you! And Thank You for showing your haku with Song of India leaves. I’ve always wanted to learn how to make a haku with those leaves. MAHALO!! 🌺🌸🌼 Btw, Wet Raffia IS a tongue twister!!!👅Lol! 😂
Thank you for this video! I made my first real lei po'o haku/wili thanks to your very helpful and detailed tutorial. Before, I was just making a small carnation lei for the head (lol). And even though haku may not be the correct terminology, I'm glad you kept it in the title because it is a more familiar search term than wili or even po'o. Mahalo nui loa!
Love your video on how to make a Hawiian Baku Lel/Lei Po'o and it was very helpfull. I will try to make one this weekend for our luau we are having at work, thank you Jonalyne.
Ive seen people already tell you that this is not a haku lei so i wont repeat that but you should consider taking “haku lei” out of the title as to not spread misinformation :) the way you made yours was wili style so maybe you can change it to that :)
Mahalo nui, Jonalynjoy! You are getting me out of plenny pilikia! I promised to take a haku keakea to a wedding on the mainland and because of Mothers' Day and graduations, the lei shops on Maunakea street aren't taking orders and it's chance 'um to find one on the day of my flight. So I'm using silk flowers and making one from your very clear instructions to have as a backup!
Question Jonalyne, did you soften up the song of india by either putting in the freezer or using a hot iron to it?? The song of india snaps when you bend it...or do you soak it in water?
Thank you so much! I’m in Kaua’i during COVID and thought about taking up flower arrangement as a hobby to have something to do but I think I’ll make these instead. Such a beautiful traditional craft! Is this ok to wear as a non-Hawaiian?
I guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Stanley Melvin Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Can I make a Haku Lei with carnations? My mother is turning 100 next Saturday and her hair is cut too short. I'm making a lei out of carnations, can I also make a Haku Lei for her head?

As Heine Baby mentioned below, this is a lei po'o not a haku. You're making a lei po'o using the wili style/technique.
This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I may try doing it.
As a Hawaiian addict certainly gonna make this. Great video!
Thank you!
Beautiful!!! and remember to think good thoughts while you make your haku :)
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial I’m gonna try and make one. I hope it comes out ok. I’ve watch many videos your video is easier to follow.
This is a lei po’o (head)!! Haku lei is not a type of lei it is the style!! Haku (braid) Wili (twist) ku’i (needle & thread)
Good to know. Thank you!☺️
Lena E. Could you please change the title of your video to the correct term?
HEiNE Baby I see there is a misunderstanding, this isn’t my video. I was commenting on your knowledgeable post.
Thank you for the correction! I always hear people around me calling it a haku lei. The more you learn everyday 😁

New subscriber. Your video is excellent! Thanks for putting up.

New subscriber here, and looking for a few Lei tutorials for a Family Luau in May. This was very good and I will definitely be trying it. TY
Thanks for the tutorial. Next time you edit a video, mix the music quieter so it doesn’t interfere with your voice. Beautiful lei 😊
hiii, love you video! may i ask for fresh flowers, how to store it and how you can keep the haku le fresh?
Mahalo for showing how to make a lei po'o with the Song of India...I tried once last year and it didn't come out very good...Aloha
hi!! this is called a a lei po’o. also, how do you do your doodles! 💟💟
Hey! Thank for the correction! I do my doodles on procreate with my iPad 😁
where did you get your flowers? I need to make a haiku for a school project and I'm from Hawaii as well :)
I love it!
Thank you so much

Totally ok to wear. It's worn to celebrate different occasions

Haku is braid.. wili is wrap… ku’i is string. Po’o is head so lei po’o wili style is wrapping style head crown
We need another upload JJ 😃
How long do these last?
Do you give classes? When ? How much ? Thank you
Lovely but can't hear well with the background music
this is lei wili not haku
✌🏾💛😊
Also, what happened to most of your content, it just dissapeared
🌺 Clever . Great Job 👏🏻
Thank you! 😊
